We are staying at CSR in September and after reading the DIS so many people are requesting the same building: 9B in the Cabana's. If this is not available what would be other recommendations based on our vacation tendancies:confused3

We are looking for something close to the main building and really enjoy the hammocks.

Please advise:confused:

The Casitas (building 1 and 2) are close to the main building. We have stayed six times at CSR and all of them in the Casitas and are hoping for a 7th stay in Casitas in September. We prefer 4 or 5 because they are closer to the quiet pool and spa. I walk at a brisk pace and it takes me five minutes to walk to the Pepper Market every morning for our coffee. It is a farther walk to the Dig Site. The Casitas have lovely courtyards and fountains and you are under protection from Building 1 to the main building (actually, I think you can start from 5 all the way to the main building and be under cover...but it might be confusing for a first timer trying to walk the paths through all the buildings).

If we stayed at the Casitas would we use the main building bus stop:confused3

A five minute walk to the Main building is no problem and we certainly enjoy exploring short cut paths if they are available.

Thank you for being so available to help all of us with CSR questions:flower3:

Sorry....can't answer the bus question as we always rent a car and drive to all the parks. I know there is a bus stop near Casitas 3 or 4 as we drive by it when we go to park our car(I'm not positive of which building--Buzz would know for sure).

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

In my experience, the more specific your request, the more likely you are going to be disappointed if you don't get it.

For your case, I would request exactly what you described above. "Building 9B would be great if available but if not, something close to the main building where we can enjoy the hammocks."

You put what is important to you (9B) first but then left it open for the assignor to give you something that would still please you if 9B isn't available. That person should be told that you want close to the main building and you like the hammocks. They could assign you anything if 9B isn't there but you've narrowed down what is important and why it's important.

What a nice perspective. When we made our request we did only tell them our specific building request but did not stress "close to the main building" or "near the hammocks", I am on the phone right now enhancing our request:thumbsup2

Thank you for this:woohoo:

Just didn't want you to be out in the Ranchos!

This is a really great post:thumbsup2 One thing I've learned working at a resort is that they will try and put you where you request, but if it's not available they'll put you just anywhere. As long as you have a backup request you should be okay. I really love the casitas; we stayed in the cabanas 8b last trip and I didnt like it:sad2: but love love love the casitas:cool1:

as far as the bus stops: we were just in casita 3, which seems to be almost halfway between bustop 1 and 2. The busses usually pickup at bus stop 2 first, then go 3-4-1 then to the park. We would usually go to bus stop 2 just so we could be some of the first ones on the bus, but sometimes we'd see our bus as we were heading to the stop. In those instances, a brisk walk should easily get you to bus stop 1 before it comes around and goes out to the parks. It actually happened to us 3 days in a row, and each time, we made it to the 1st stop with plenty of time to spare.

Just curious...why did you not like the cabanas 8b and what do you enjoy about the casitas?

I have rented a car on vacations past but have parked it at the resort and not used it again until I left for the airport. How convenient is it to drive and park at the parks as a hotel guest? Are there special parking spots for resort guests that are closer than the parking for general public. I am really interested to know how it works. Thanks:)

I don't know about the parking when you actually get to the parks,,but
I would guess one BIG plus about driving is not having to stand on
the bus if it is already full,,,and not having to wait in the heat for the
bus to come.

The really great thing about the size of the resort is that all the requests
hopefully fall into different catagories for the day you are arriving!
The "BackUp" request IS a really good idea though!
MY biggest fear is that there will be nothing good left for me when I
get there in September,,,because our flight doesn't get into MCO till 8pm.
Such a bummer:guilty:
I am going to sit at the airport all day and try to get on an earlier flight.
With all that is going on in the airline industry today,,,,Don't know if
it will work anymore...
Have fun on your upcoming trip,,,and "just keep swimmin'....":flower3:

There aren't any special parking spots for resort guests. You park the same as the general public. The only real benefit is that as a resort guest you don't pay for parking; they just wave you in.
