CSR LIED Right to our Face!

We just returned from our 6 Day trip to Disney and CSR. When we arrived, I was disappointed that I did not get my request for the Cabanas, when I asked he said that the casitas was still very close and a great room. I had specifically asked for a new renovated room.
First of all we got completely turned around and it was late and we had a tired 2 and 6 year old, but I was still upbeat. Until we open the door and it's the same old room.
I immediately called and said I asked to be in a renovated room and were there any available, he proceeds to tell me that I am in a renovated room. I then tell him, no I have seen the renovated rooms online and this is not one.

:sad2: Then he lies and says I can't beleive everything I see online!!!!!!!
Can you beleive that. After reading all these threads and all Buzz's info, he lied right over the phone.

Well that started us out on such a bad note. It was so hard to recover. Then we go to the Pepper Market and the waiter was unbelievable unhelpful and stoic. Keep in mind this is our first trip and the first time using the dining plan.

The week got better, and there were some beautifully nice people at CSR, but for the most part we found our Disney Magic elsewhere.

We did get one towel animal, the second night. Of course then the kids were disappointed everynight after when we got nothing.

It was a beautiful resort, but for our next trip we will stay somewhere else.

I am so sorry to hear about your first few days. I am glad you were able to still enjoy the rest of your vacation.

I am sorry you had some CMs that were less than magical. That can really put a damper on a trip (had it happen at the Contemporary). Glad you were able to find that Disney magic other places and still have a great trip:thumbsup2 Hope your next resort choice is better (although getting an unmagical CM or one that gives misinformation can happen at any resort).

Sometimes I think people's expectations are a bit high. I know a WDW trip is a lot of money, but it's a resort like any other you might travel to. It's not always perfect.

As for your room request, it's only that: a request. It doesn't mean you'll get it and that's alway made clear. Plus, when you get there late sometimes that makes the request even more unlikely.

Not a great response by the CM though.

One of the things that gets my undies in a bunch are people expecting towel animals and then being disappointed when they dont' get them. That is a bonus, not all maids know how to make them and they don't come standard in every room. You got one, be happy about that. I know people that have stayed at the Grand Floridian and not got them. It all depends on the person taking care of your room. Your trip should not be made or broken depending on whether or not you get a towel animal.

I know that sometimes reality doesn't meet expectations, but sometimes our expectations are way too high. All I hope for is you were able to enjoy some close moments with your family and you all had a chance to laugh and have fun together. That's what's important.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Sorry you didn't get a new room. The resort was sold out last week. Not everyone was going to get one since they are along way from being complete. I hope you still had a magical trip though!

I have found front desk cm's sometimes do lie. I had a downright mean CM at AKL once who in a snotty manner gave us the exact opposit of our few very broad and easy requests. After seeing our room location, we called the front desk and suddenly a room was available that was not before. She lied to us when she said our savannah view room was the only room left (it was in a corner behind a fence with almost no view of the animals - who wants to pay top dollar for that?).

I have had great luck at CSR and find the CM's to be friendlier than those I've experienced at the other resorts, however it only takes one to sour your experience.... I'm sorry you had a bad first impression. Unfortunately this can happen at any of them. Its a shame that they have to compound our disappointment in room location with lies. I guess they get tired of dealing with demands - even from those of us who are nice about it. Still, its not an excuse to lie or be surly about it.

I am sorry your trip got off to a bad start, I have never stayed at CSR but most people here love it. I hope you have better luck next time.

No towel animals-acceptable

Bad restaurant service-acceptable

BEING LIED TO-unacceptable when you spend the money you do,

why not just say "sorry all those rooms are taken"

OP: FWIW I have never seen a towel animal except in photos here on the DIS. It definitely should be viewed as an extra treat if you receive one, not something to be expected with routine Mousekeeping:)

Maybe he/she really thought they put you in a new room. Only some casita rooms are done so they could have been confused about the location they gave you.

I agree with you about the towel animals. I have been very careful not to promise these to my kids (except on the cruise), because I know it depends on the mousekeeper.

But why do you think bad restaurant service is acceptable?

The Cm lying is inexcusable. Everything else was simply expectations and requests that were not met. Disappointing..Sure, but it happens. Sorry you were so disappointed.

We did have a great time! It was very magical.
I just wanted everyone to be aware that this does happen.

Course it happens( more often than not). I have been to disney 21 times. No towel animals, requests not met, poor Cms.I never let it ruin a trip.

Yes, I didn't get any towel animals this trip either and all the rooms around me had them in the windows for Valentine's Day.

The only thing I got was in the tub everyday.

I know I rattle on sometimes... but I have said it before and I will say it again.

We deserve what we pay for at the VERY least. Bad service is NEVER acceptable. Most CM's are very nice, and most waiters are very nice. If you pay for something, especially for service...you deserve the best customer service. Sorry to all those who think it is acceptable to receive crap service.

About the Towel Animals. I have never received one either. There was one in the window of a preferred room when I got there. My son was not old enough to care. But I would have explained that it was something special and not to be expected.

One of the things that is upsetting about the CM is that there was the thought that the CM lied. I don't think you were so upset about the requests not being honored as much as you were upset that you were lied to. We all pay alot of money to have a magical experience. It is unacceptable to have an experience that is not pleasure.

Yes it can happen at any resort, any hotel, any restaurant. I am sorry that your stay was not magical. I hope your next one exceeds all expectations.

Sorry the CM lied to you and you had an unfriendly CM or two. There is no excuse for lying to a guest. Unfortunately, this can happen anywhere (we've had it happen to us at two deluxes--the WL and the CR). I'm glad you were still able to enjoy your vacation and hope your next resort choice will be better for you.

way to go with the reminding us that they might not have lied.....actually I didn't even think of that when reading this thread....that does make sense...(not that me realizing this helps the OP any) but yay for thinking this through :)

While we were there in August - September, staying in the Casitas, part way through our stay mousekeeping and maintenance were in our room mid-day changing out the mattresses, platform and bedding. If I had not gone back to the room while they were there, I most likely would not have noticed any difference as the overall appearance of the room was the same. Perhaps that change is what the CM was thinking of with the renovated room.

I too am sorry that your stay was not all that you dreamed of, but don't give up on CSR. It is a really great place!

Actually, I don't see where the CM even lied to you. He just stated that you can't believe everything you see on line. Which is true.

I think you had extremely high expectations and those weren't met. Perhaps if you went with the idea that this was going to be fun whether you got your request or not, whether every single CM smiled at you and threw Pixie Dust your way, you might have had a better time.

Being tired with tired kids probably didn't help much either.

Plus if you "called" the front desk, you probably got a call center somewhere. They are trained to respond like the front desk for every call.

Better luck next time.
