I will be at CSR in late August and I notice that the convention schedule has the Florida Tea Party Aug. 26 - 31. I am all for open politics for all, but I must admit that I don't want to hear & see it at WDW. I can't find anything on the Florida Tea Party web site about the convention so maybe they decided to cancel it? I certainly hope so. Actually I can't find any info about this convention on any Google search. Perhaps I am not searching for the correct terms.

What is it that you think you will see and hear? Unless you crash their meetings, you won't see and hear anything.

There are all sorts of conventions all year long at CSR and WDW in general. I doubt this one will be any different from any of the others.

Political congregations tend to be more vocal than most. That is what I am concerned about, other than the typical concern of venue closures like the pools.

We've been to may WDW resorts during conventions, including CSR, and have never heard a peep. If you have a problem with this convention, reserve a room at another resort. No pools have ever been closed.

Someone posted the convention on the CSR thread, so I added it. I think I found confirmation online, but I can't find it now. All I can find is the film festival over Labor Day weekend. Maybe it was canceled. It is still listed on Buzz's site, but we share information freely and he might have picked it up from this thread. I'll see if he knows.

The Grainger Show (going on now) closes the pool(s) every year for a day or two. We've stayed several times at CSR with conventions and they have never bothered us. The only convention I know that affects the pool and grounds is the Grainger Show, due to its huge scale. I don't know of any other conventions that spill over into guest areas.

Looks like you and I will be at CS the same time! I posted about the tea party convention on the other thread....I was told they are a quiet bunch and not to worry. So im not worried anymore. Lol. But rest assured, if im majorly inconvenienced in any way (such as pool closures), i will be speaking to the hotel manager.

Maybe we will run into each other, good luck to us both! :thumbsup2

I'm not really sure how anyone would know this unless they are present when political conventions are going on. Having a convention inside a gated facility would ensure that no media, protestors etc. could be in the vicinity. All the conventions and trade meetings I've attended are very social as well as business oriented, but not at the actual facility. Outside of the meeting facilities themselves, which at CSR are isolated from the majority of the rooms, pools and grounds, attendees usually spend a lot more time away from the actual site.

I might be missing something here but I don't see anymore of an issue than if any non political convention was there.

I will be at CSR from 8/25 - 9/1 and was curious as to how much the Tea Party Convention would overspill into the rest of the resort but I don't think it will be anything like the Grainger Convention ...well I hope not :thumbsup2

I meant that the CSR pools never closed due to a convention during one of our trips.
The Grainger Show sounds ginourmous. We've been to other WDW resorts when there were conventions and not once were we impacted in any way.

I was the CR during a Florida Democrat Convention in October. VP Biden even spoke at it. No real impact on regular guests, other than added security at the CR parking booth. The convention guests are pretty busy with their meeting/events, so there's not much mixing with vacation guests.

The Disney convention planners probably require conventions to feed their attendees...otherwise a huge number of people would descend on dining venues at the same time, ruining the experience for everybody.

:thumbsup2 Right. Most of the conventions I have researched for the CSR thread include lunch at the convention center, sometimes breakfast at the convention center, and occasionally dinner activities either onsite or in the parks. The impacts at CSR are usually more people eating breakfast at the Pepper Market (sometimes) and more people at the Laguna Bar and Rix Lounge in the evenings (depending on the type of convention and its attendees). Most guests don't even notice there is a convention. When I compare people's reviews with the convention schedule, there is no correlation (except for Grainger) - sometimes people compliment the buses and how quiet the resort is, while sometimes someone comments on seeing business people at the Laguna Bar.

We witnessed some very drunk, rowdy guys at the Beach Club one trip. I don't know if they were there with a convention or if they just went drinking around the World at Epcot. ;) Most/all of the Epcot resorts are convention resorts.

I am certain that the Tea Party attendees (if this convention is still happening) will not be going door-to-door with propaganda.

If you don't go to their meetings or sit next to them at the Rix Lounge, likely you won't hear anything vocal.

I found the link that references the convention (you can Google CSR and Florida Tea Party), but it goes to Page Not Found. Not exactly sure what that means, but I'm wondering if the convention is not happening after all. I did find a FL Police Athletic League Board of Directors meeting at CSR from Aug 25-27 - I can't imagine they would cause any trouble, though. ;)

This is the main reason we no longer stay at CSR. We were there during a glidden paints conference 2 years ago and there were to many guys away from home intoxicated on the grounds. We had a gentleman try to break into our room at midnight thinking it was his room. very very intoxicated. Security was very slow to respond (25-30 minutes) and the resort manager offered nothing saying "we cant control what our guests do." I havent seen that many drunk people at any other resort in my 50+ stays on disney property. Suffice it to say, we will never return to the coronado springs resort.

Do not go during Food and Wine Fest! OMG, there were tons of drunks!!!!
We had someone actually walk into our GF room. The check in CM made a mistake and gave them a key which opened our door! Not sure how that happened because I thought all codes were changed from guest to guest. Good thing we were dressed:rotfl:

Weve been to the F&W festival a bunch! Thats a little different than actually being worried for my family's safety walking from the restaurant at CSR back to our room because of the inebriated individuals! Ive never had a problem with Food & Wine (my favorite time of year to go!) but it might have been a 1 time occurence at CSR but having a guy ramming your window with his body at midnight for 25 minutes and then the manager saying they could do nothing about it (I dont go looking for "kickbacks") kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth for CSR!

I have seen my fair share of "tipsy" individuals over at the fort, but having a few buds with the family around the camper is a little different than 4-5 guys away from the family for a week with no where to drive to and no reason not to get wasted!

Sorry to disappoint you but they ARE coming in august afterall. Theyre still listed on the "coronado_springs tripod . com" website as attending Aug.26-31. Then some intl film fest comes in.

There's a reason that site was *****. If I were you, I'd remove the link as the site is owned by someone who was banned from the DIS.
