CSE-- Pg. 74 SATAN'S HAMMER, Ch.18, pg.160 "Goodnight Sweetheart" epilogue

I agree with Smidgy. Those fuzzy cups with tops are great. We used to get them in French Quarter (disney ones with lids they are actually coffee cups)
They are also in the studios at Grand Californian too. We did make it a point to toast you two when we were at DCA with them too:):)

gee, I thought I felt a warm, fuzzy feeling! ;)

:lmao: I really wasn't trying to dig at you for not asking for the AP discount at Planet Hollywood. I guess I assumed that you checked into it? :duck: Don't shoot!!!

I'm thinking we didn't have the AP yet. but anyway, I'm pretty sure you are only allowed one discount. just like you can't combine a free dining with a room only, or a AA with an aarp (not that you'd know about aarp:))

That makes sense! I'm sure you're right.

I've been getting mail from the AARP since I was 25. :rotfl: Haven't joined yet, they'd probably figure it out.

After a couple of drinks in the room,,, including the waste of time Chi Chi's Mai Tai pre-made drink that came in a big plastic bottle, we made up a couple of fuzzy cups drinks for the bus ride.

I don't think I've enjoyed any of those pre-made drinks.

Now,, what i"m going to say is going to sound bad and excessive,,, but,,, um,,, oh well,,

Right. Why stop now?

lThe Sunny D or the fuzzy cup are either "In transit, or, get through the gates drinks, so I like to keep them pristine at least until the durn bus arrives, ergo,, the "sipper".

Another Neboism coined.

We used to always get a bunch of the clear plastic cups from the maid,,, maybe it is a Value resort thing,, but not this trip,, the only room cups were glass coffee mug type cups. At the last second before we finished packing at home,, Diane mentioned maybe we should bring these old ones just for the heck of it. The amazing thing was that they did't crack in the suitcase.

Did you guys have room for actual clothes in your suitcases?

When Diane saw me heading out the door with a fuzzy cup AND an auxilliary beverage, well,, want to guess who ran back in and got her own auxilliary beverage?
She sometimes get's the attitude of, "Hold it, you have something that I don't have? I don't think so!"

I'm sure you probably get that way too.

Our bus pulled up,,, we finished our drinks, dumped the ice out in the bushes behind the half walls making up these gazebo style bust stops, then we put the cups inside each other and leaning over,, on the ground in the corner just on the outside of the half wall. You can still reach it from the inside,,,

Ingenious!

We know, for sure,,, that there will be definate trips joining in the fun in the next year,,,, and finally,,, first time ever,,, we are going to upgrade to annual passes. We are told that the best place to do this is at DD,, why? beats me, but you can't do it at your resort.

When we upgraded at Magic Kingdom the girl taking care of the transaction was a little confused.

So that's where we stand now,,, passes calling us,,, calling,,, as smooth as it went,,, we didnn't know we should have gotten a bunch of literature with the transaction,,,, we got squat! Now,, we are still figureing out what other specials or deals come with the AP's.

I forgot to get the discount in the gift shops a couple times. You get 10% off in most of them. We got the most use out of the Tables in Wonderland card. It's an extra $75 but if you're eating at any table service places you get 20% off the entire bill including alcohol. It saved us a lot of money.

The dumbest thing we ever did,,, was in '07,, when we both lost our jobs with our companies closing,,,, we just kept choosing fantasy over reality,,, and kept going back to Disney......

Was that the same year you did the smartest thing ever with the water park tickets? Do they cancel each other out then?

I finally had to shoot her.

Which is why she seldom posts here now.

:lmao: Shooting will do that to a person.

I really did consider doing it this time, or maybe sometime this trip, just to have SOMETHING different I can write about! Even if I did die from a heart attack,,, but I really think 20 bucks to just go up and down is a wee bit too much, laddie.

I'm with you there. Seems high for a 10-minute ride. Then again, Disney charges $157 for a frozen drink.

But us now? Since they closed the Magic shop,,, and the other place I liked to browse in,, the Magnet shop,,, not much really interests me there anymore,

No World of Disney? Basin? Art of Disney? The kitchen place?

Guess what?

Wow, you got it already!

Yep,, unbelievable,,, they all lied to me!

I can't remember for certain what all the menu sites I checked before we left,,, I AM certain that ALL EARS NET is one of them,,, and I think the DIS,,, and WDW INFO, but they almost all had the hamburger at 10.95, the cheesburger at 11.95 and the bacon cheeseburger at 12.95.
Or the Swiss/ Mushroom burger at 12.95 also.

The Reality?
Hamburger,,, 11.95, cheeseburger, 14.95,, bacon/cheeseburger, 15.95! Just like the last time!
And no,, there's no difference in burger price between llunch and dinner. I even went and checked on line when the prices were last updated on the menu sites,,, and one of them was just 2 weeks prior.

And those tricky Planet Hollywood people don't put prices on their online menu.

But I got it anyway.

Phew.

It just ticks me off that they know everybody's got that voucher,,, and peoople that usually USE vouchers,,, are burger and fries kinda people.

Well, there's a sweeping generalization.

And so now,,, bill paid,,, back on the streets, (so to say),
and stuffed to the point of defcon 1,,, we now get to head on out and venture into the vast DisneyWorld Terrain, which is going to have to include the crossage of a major road,, to get to the HEss station to pick up beer.

Why did the Nebo cross the road?

Did you know that the hand will sometimes go on break for an hour at a time? Really,,, the ligtht will turn green for your direction,,, but not the hand,,,, oh no,,, it stilll senses a Dodge Omni heading this way that has now reached St' Cloud, and it will not change to green until this "K" car has safely passed,,, in 35 minutes,,,, that'a why the hour breaks for the hand.

There wasn't a pedestrian button?

As I undressed that night,,, I took off my shorts,,,, and removed the little airplaine bottles that I think by now might be getting a complex,,,,, this is two nights in a row now that they came for the ride,,,,onl y to return, unused.

Poor, sad little bottles.

Great chapter Nebo. Thanks!

Another great chapter and well worth the wait!

I'm replying to this on my Disboards App so forgive me if it gets totally messy!

Love your covert alcohol planning. I'm going to steal some of your ideas for our August trip! I can picture myself walking around the Boardwalk with a fuzzy cup in hand, raising it up and toasting the brilliance that is Nebo!!

We haven't been to Planet Hollywood in years. My wife is not a fan of Downtown Disney since Pleasure Island became Retail Island years ago. I also loved the magnet store and other than World of Disney and Team Mickey see no reason to visit. I know we won't be hitting there on our upcoming trip.

Looking forward to the the next installment! Hopefully I can pick up another tip or two!

Jay

P.S. the Disboards App let's me know when I've spelled something wrong! That in itself is worth it!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Fourth of July. So grateful for the freedoms we have here that allow us all to enjoy these wonderful adventures of Nebo and Smidgy. Tonight we all need to raise our fuzzy cups in a toast to friends and family.

:drinking1

I'll check with my friends who usually drive smaller roads like that (pulling an Airstream to camp at Ft Wilderness every year). It's likely that they have used that route.

We actually HATE HATE HATE driving South through AL (especially that Mtgy>Dothan>I-10 stretch you mentioned), and prefer going over to Chattanooga to pick up I-75. No matter what time of day, we've been lucky to just cruise straight through Atlanta in the HOV lane. :yay:

Glad you're eyes aren't near that bad!! Poor old Pop, he's 85, but sharp as a tack (that's him in our signature, the sailor with the ship's wheel! ;)). He just hates that he can no longer see to drive, and has to depend on us for so much now. He'd be so happy to work his daily Sudoku puzzle without having to magnify it on the tv screen.:sad2:

.

Cindy, your Pop sounds like somebody I'[d love to sit with and talk to,,,, like at a shaded table CBR with a Pina Colava in front of each of us.
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that hated that route, let me know if you hear anyghing good about the 82 to Tifton route, Ok?

Congrats on the annual passes! How exciting!

Hoping that everyone out there hasn't melted from the heat. Here in the Willamette Valley it's a lovely 73 degrees and sunny, with just a slight breeze. Beautiful weather - we may even hit the 80's this weekend! :rotfl:

Cameo,,,, why how fitting,, I havent 'seen you in a couple of years.
I just saw a neighbor of yours though two days ago,,, my niece was in from Oregon,, whom I haven't seen in 7 years,,, way cool to re-connect with her and her family,,,,
but she lives not too far from you I think,,,, a place called Cottage Grove.

Some days I'm so far behind I actually think I'm ahead.

well...it seems that I have forgotten everything I was going to comment on other than the most important...being reunited with your grandsons! That is so wonderful! Bailie walked by when the picture of them was up and asked who the hot guys are.

Nope no ponzie stealage there. I even had everything quoted nicely there from YOU. Silly.

I have yet to read his report yet, sorry ponzie.

We were without power from about 7pm yesterday until about 5 pm today. Got up to 102 outside, 93 inside.

We have awesome neighbors and hung out in their pool most of the day. We shared our generator and saved our food and basements to run the sub pumps. We pooled our resources and came up with a nice 4th of July spread to share. I love my neighbors!

Still hot inside, looks like the AC will be working overtime tonight.

Thanks, he is a real character! HIS dad made it to 101yo, and Pop and his brother are hoping to stay healthy enough to do as well. :thumbsup2

Here is what my friend Kim had to say about that route:
We actually went that way on our way to Tampa for Spring Break, sans the Airstream. I wanted to check it out as an alternate also – we HATE driving through Dothan – found the best time for that is before 8:00 on Saturday mornings.

Anyway, overall I liked using 82 to I-75. It was a nice 2 lane country drive (we drove it on a Monday morning). Didn’t have a problem with traffic, and there were places to pass if needed. The biggest problem we had is that there were no restaurants between Montgomery and Eufaula – which upset Jared’s lunch schedule. He did manage to survive to find a meal. Roads were wider in Georgia. As for picking up the interstate in Tifton, I didn’t think there was a lot of “city driving” between town limits and the interstate – just the usual crowded exit stuff for a few miles before you get to I-75.

I would recommend the route to someone not towing a camper. We didn’t really see good places for gas or food in the smaller towns. There was a lot of “country driving” between the major towns, so a lot of planning for proper gas stops would be required to ensure not running out of gas when driving a gas guzzling vehicle.

Hope this helps. I am happy to answer more questions, if they have them. Only 88 days to Disney!!

So maybe that way will be a good one for y'all. :drive:

I'm usually lurking and get the courage to post about once per Nebo trip report. It's quite intimidating to attempt posting with such famous DIS folks as Pkondz, ThumperMan, Nebo, Smidgy, Winkers, MonyMony, GreatBiscuit...as you can tell with my measly 87 posts in 3 1/2 years.

Yes, Cottage Grove is about 45 minutes south of Eugene. Cute town. :)

I can't believe you knew what I was talking about when I said K car,,,, or anybody would, for that matter. Nice job!

Now I will show my age. I learned to drive in a Chevette (Did the 3 point turn in 1 in that baby) and the car my mother owned (My father drove a huge caddy that you needed oars for) was a K Car. :sad2:

I do not deserve such an extraordinary honor to be held in such high regard with the rest of these fine Dis celebrities.

I humbly rescind my nomination at such time.

No further comment.

this was the Smidgy stepping on the edge of the sidewalk/beach at Coronado, and taking a header into the sand flies.
Did you know that when your spouse is laying on the ground bleeding, the first thing you are not supposed to do is go for the camera and turn it on.

Who knew?

Oh, Nebo, you didn't! Well, I hope your son is always available to guide you through the line for POTC and other dark places on your August trip.
On the other hand, you probably deserve to knock your shins a couple of times.

Yes, it's not a Nebo trip report unless it's a Nebo "TRIP" report.

Hope everyone had a good Independence Day! It was my one day off in a 9 day stretch, so we did a whole lot of NOTHING the whole day! I take that back, I spent the day catching up on this TR & playing with the kids. Not that it matters that I'm caught up, cuz I now have to work 3 in a row, have 1 day off, then work another 3 in a row.

So glad about the reunion! My sister passed away when she was 31, and my 3 nephews were young. Her husband remarried a year later, and we rarely saw the boys after that. Now that they're all adults, they have the ability to come see my parents, but because they never established a relationship when they were little, they have no desire to interact with my parents. It's a shame. Point being, I hope that's the start to a great relationship with all of ya'll!

Wow, Leisure Suit Larry...that brings back some memories. :)

Jill in CO

I remember at the time playing LSL, King's Quest, Ultima 3 and 4, and Wing Commander

If you just buy a pop at the food court you get the Disney version of a fuzzy cup,,, but i'ts no where near as good, even though it's got a lid, it's really just a paper cup with a lid. OFFICIAL FUZZY CUPS are not only scientifically thermodynamically designed for retaining the cups contents at the liquid's original temperature,,, but they are also very aerodynamic to cut down on wind drag when walking,, and they are also very fashionable, truly easy to match up with almost all your favorite outfits!

gee, I thought I felt a warm, fuzzy feeling! ;)

Wait,, you mean ,,,,,I thought you went through that already?

:lmao: I really wasn't trying to dig at you for not asking for the AP discount at Planet Hollywood. I guess I assumed that you checked into it? :duck: Don't shoot!!!

You just wanted an excuse t use that smiley.

Ok,,, that's it,,, I gotta get back downstairs before I become just one big puddle sitting here.
