CSE-- Pg. 74 SATAN'S HAMMER, Ch.18, pg.160 "Goodnight Sweetheart" epilogue

So.... you want an accident prone child?

Why do I think that he won't think so?

Pkondz, you crack me up! I don't just "gigglesnort" as Nebo has so nicely put it. :rolleyes:

I happened to be taking a sip of tea when I read your post and I laughed/snorted tea through my nose! :sad2:

Note to self: never, ever presume it safe to partake in any liquid while reading any Pkondz post! ;)

Ok, hold it right there. My incredible deductive and intuitive reasoning most certainly had NO help from a telephone call from somebody that only speaks Carolina and I had to use a translator!
Closed captioning would have helped my more than the gigglesnorts I got over the phone!:rotfl:
you know I"m teasin, hopefully we'll be able to meet up down there and can toast to each other when you are no longer expecting a litter.

Oh yeah, I know you are teasing me of course! ;) But I must insert a massive number of "gigglesnorts" here as I kid you not I called your response 100%. I told DH that you would accept no watered down rationalizations for your triumph with the age guess. I could add a "tee hee" here, but I wouldn't think of it, knowing how much you dislike it! ;)

And I am looking forward to meeting you and Smidgy, and heaven help, cut out the litter comment! :scared1: One is more than enough!!

I do? And I have to think?
But what a great way to show loyalty to a trip report!
Shows true devotion, loyalty, yes, even love, it will last with you for the rest of your lives, everybgody here will look at you with envy and respect in their eyes and after feeling their own shame set in, mumble to themselves something like,,, "Oh my God, what's her problemL?":lmao:

But in all kidding aside, it's going to be a 7 pound, 4 ounce girl born on the 22nd, and you'll name her not after me, but Ponzi's wife, Ruby.

Yeah, Pkondz called your reaction, but I have to say it's what I expected as well. Little buzz would be forever known as a wacky Nebo tribute and we can't have that! If it is a girl, well we all know she will choose her own day. Time will tell, but that time is getting closer! ;)

OK I realize you're not comfortable with folks feeling sorry for you, and I promise after this I'll stop, but "knowing" you like I think I do from following your trip reports for years now, I know all this had to be killing you! (metaphorically speaking of course!)

You were in your favorite place, with your Smidgy, with your son and Kim and JACKSON's FIRST TRIP!!! :sad:

But as usual, your sense of humor is prevailing. At least now it is, I can only imagine at the time you were wanting to pull your hair out! Oh wait. Errr, ummm, never mind. :duck:

Again, so glad you're OK now, and I'm sooooo hoping you'll get a chance for a do-over soon, WITH Jackson!!!!

~~~Dawn
And to Sewmess and others concerning the coincidence concerning the book:
It's not like we are talking about reading Lord of the Flies or the Cat in the Hat here, this was a story about a boy losing his eyesight, and which we each read at least a dozen years apart, and no, it wasn 't on all the shelves at Wallmart or in with the Hardy Boy books.
I too was not that biggest fan of the Lord of the Rings books, and thank goodness they left the whole Tom Bombadil bit out of the Fellowship; or was that in the Hobbit?
But the moview are outstanding, especially, the later DVD realeases that were Jackson's director version, a lot of added scenes and dialog that helped to make it easier to follow, especially in the Two Towers and Return of the King.
[/B]
Nebo, you just made my point. It isn't a common book, or at least not to the Sweet Valley High/Hardy Boys/Lord of the Flies level. So, you and Pkondz enjoying it so much when you were lads. . . .:scared1:
I read the books in high school: more accurately I read Fellowship and then lost interest in Two Towers. I went back and reread them after the movies and read Two Towers interspaced between the two story lines: one chapter the remains of the fellowship, next chapter a Sam/Frodo snoozer, and so on.
And I remembered what I wanted to comment on: nothing to do with the TR. I was going to sign back in after the inevitable Disboard kicking me off while I caught up on the endless comments and I almost signed in "sewerat"
Thanks, Nebo.
I remember my two favorite books were The Outsiders and My Side of the Mountain but I'll be darned if I can remember a quote from either.
Good Lord, cp'ersmom! I was just coming here to post about my childhood love of the book My Side of the Mountain! I also liked The Outsiders (c'mon, you don't remember "Stay gold, Ponyboy..." ?) but I didn't wear out the book like My Side of the Mountain. I remember I was such a naive kid that I thought it was a true story. Plus I wanted to run away and live in a hollowed-out tree and have a pet falcon, but my mother wouldn't let me.
There must be something in the water here.
It's not true????:confused3 :upsidedow - add me to the list, I loved that book!! I still have it!
I'm still not totally ruling out that it [the gurney] wasn't there , why else would I think that? And how else would they transport someone who's unconsious, and you don't know if there's spinal injuries?
Conspiracy theories abound. :scratchin What you saw were the wheels of one of those scooter things just waiting for those darn EMTs to get out of the way so they could finish the job. Or maybe one of those strollers. You decide...
What scares me is the freakin amazing memories you all have! I remember my two favorite books were The Outsiders and My Side of the Mountain but I'll be darned if I can remember a quote from either.
I think I about wore out my copy of The Outsiders too...I also have the movie, so quotes from that are just as bad as M*A*S*H* quotes around here. :rotfl2:
"There's still a lot of good in the world. Tell Dally, I don't think he knows."
Finished the book. Really liked it, but it's a bit dated. Once the comet hit, the book got 5000% better. Everyone here should read it. ::yes::
I went out and bought it on Saturday. This came out just after I passed my Sci-Fi phase. I used to belong to the Science Fiction Book Club and OD'd on it after a while. Haven't read from that genre for years; should be fun to delve back into it!
This should remind you of that time period just fine. It's a bit slow to start but it really takes off later. :thumbsup2
First of all, Ponz, for some reason I feel really bad about not breaking down your last breakdown, but yoiur comments said things best and it would have been lame on my part. So I took the time and used it over on Bunny Boy's thread. I wonder if my library has that book, I'm willing to bet not a chance in the world. If I remember right, it was a softcover back then when softcovers were not common.
One more thing, I know my motive and reason for the interest in the book, but how come for you? It's just not a normal subject matter for a 10 year old to be reading, is it? Well, guess it is, I doubt I knew what it was about before I got it.
Danielle? How about for your husband, can you share his disability?
No, I'm not meaning to pry, I guess it's that all the handicapped and disabled talk I dealt with when I was young, and overcame, have now resurfaced in the wake of being classified now as officially disabled, and getting hearing aids an d dealing with macular degenteration.
As to the book thing: really, should we be surprised that Nebo and Pkondz were addicted to the same book as boys? They are scarily similar now - why would it have been different when they were younger?
Some people believe in reincarnation. I don't but I don't know if Ponzi does or not, and I'm thinking that from or during one of my accidents, he didn't wait until finding out if I was dead or not, and just took my place without asking, so, now he's me only 12 years younger.
Or I walked into a time loop and I'm him, 12 years older.
Hmm, ok, this now brings us to the carnival again.
We did it with Dee Dee, so,, how old is Mr. Pkondz?
Ponzi? Willing to play? You have all seen many pictures of me, but only one of him, and a shadow.
I've said my age many times, I will be 58 this November, so who wants to start it off?
Speaking of good ol' Cliffy... It really is true that John Ratzenberger has had a voice role in every Pixar movie to date!!
Yes Cindy, the best thing about going to a Pixar movie is playing "find the Cliffy".
Yeah, that's what you need. Rhino's hamster ball. So you can just fall in your own little bubble. :thumbsup2
Rhino, that was it!
FREAK.Y!!! :faint:
True. but still... :upsidedow
I remember freaking out years ago when I found out Diane had also read the book. But the passage of time wasn't that great back then, and not quite as earth shattering, if you know what I mean.
LOL. I like your strategy about getting the ankle to look as bad as possible for the doctor. I will have to try that when I can actually walk.
My name is Susan, by the way. I have told you that, but you are way too epic and popular to remember little ole me ..... LOL
I knew you would understand about the vikes, though.
I'm a WHAT and popular? Don't get me in trouble now Susan, you know I'm a sucker for lines like that. :rotfl2:
What scares me is the freakin amazing memories you all have! I remember my two favorite books were The Outsiders and My Side of the Mountain but I'll be darned if I can remember a quote from either.
Irene, memories are weird; I have two friends in our group,, one can't remember anything about our teenage years unless you really spell it out for him,,, and no, drugs and alcohol are not the culprit, and the other guy forgets absolutely NOTHING about that time period. I"m more like him, but I do have ot work on it sometimes.
But I never read My Side of the Mountain, or Outsiders.
Funny though, I had OUtsiders on our Netflix list and just watched it finally last month.
No, neither of us were much impressed by the movie.
Yeah, but ask me what I had for breakfast this morning... No scratch that, I remember that one... Okay, ask me about the day before!... uh, no hang on. I remember that one too... Odd, I remember the day before that too... The day before that I made pancakes...
Okay, bad analogy.
Uh uh, right. But the ONE thing you will NEVER forget,,,,,,,,,,remember when Nebo thought I was a woman?
You bring that up every trip report,,,, oh, you're due again. :lmao:
Pkondz, you crack me up! I don't just "gigglesnort" as Nebo has so nicely put it. :rolleyes:
I happened to be taking a sip of tea when I read your post and I laughed/snorted tea through my nose! :sad2:
See now Ponzi, reading something like that, doesn't that make life worth living? That's better than a great review at work, right?
Ok, ok, I mean one that doesn't include a raise.
OK I realize you're not comfortable with folks feeling sorry for you, and I promise after this I'll stop, but "knowing" you like I think I do from following your trip reports for years now, I know all this had to be killing you! (metaphorically speaking of course!)
~~~Dawn

Well thank you Dawn, only time wil tell if a do-over will be forthcoming.

I read the books in high school: more accurately I read Fellowship and then lost interest in Two Towers. I went back and reread them after the movies and read Two Towers interspaced between the two story lines: one chapter the remains of the fellowship, next chapter a Sam/Frodo snoozer, and so on.

I think that's just great Sewerat, it's funny, when you have a limited vocabulary when you are young, you can make it through tought books like these, but when you get older? I find I have no patience for authors that try to throw in ridiculous never used words just to show how smart they are.

I think I was about 10 when I read War of the Worlds.
I picked up a hardcover last year that has H.G. Wells War of the Worlds, Food of the Gods, The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, The Island of Dr. Moreau,,,and,,,, um,, I think that's it.
But the words are little, not much dialog and man, I
feel really stupid from how many words I don't know what they mean. I'm not dumb but these books sure make me feel dumb.

Think I'll go out and get the next Kingdom Keepers book.:lmao:

Good Lord, cp'ersmom! I was just coming here to post about my childhood love of the book My Side of the Mountain! I thought it was in the air, Fernando
Yes, I know it's lame, it's all I could think of right now, been sitting here forever.

Conspiracy theories abound. :scratchin What you saw were the wheels of one of those scooter things just waiting for those darn EMTs to get out of the way so they could finish the job. Or maybe one of those strollers. You decide...

I really do wish I knew what was the truth.

Um, can you tell nebo when they're done telling Dally?

How cool, I'm jealous. You get to read it for the very first time!
But it's not really science fiction, more of a "disaster" from the seventies type, like Poseiden Adventure, or Towering Inferno.

Well, after sitting here for about the last 6 hours, we also have the next chapter almost ready to roll.

First of all, Ponz, for some reason I feel really bad about not breaking down your last breakdown, but yoiur comments said things best and it would have been lame on my part.

No worries... your chapters are getting longer and so are my comments... I have this sinking feeling that you look at my comments and instead of smiling that you get to read it, you're shuddering because you have to break them all down.

Again... no worries. Sit back and enjoy... and if something sticks out that you want to comment on... do so... or don't.

Last time I looked, it is still your TR, so technically you can do pretty much whatever you want! :laughing:

Besides... I'm behind on Mr & Mrs T's TR myself.

One more thing, I know my motive and reason for the interest in the book, but how come for you? It's just not a normal subject matter for a 10 year old to be reading, is it? Well, guess it is, I doubt I knew what it was about before I got it.

I remember being in the library (Grade 5) and looking for something to read when I came across it. I don't know why I picked it. Maybe the writing style or subject on the back, who knows. But after reading it, I was hooked. I found it fascinating... and now I'm trying to figure out why.

There was a woman who lived down the street who was blind...
I started to wear glasses that year, so maybe I was thinking more about eyes...
The writing was really good, at least for a kid that age. I don't know how well it'd hold up now...
Just the thought of a boy my age going blind and how it turned out to be not so bad...

Could be any of those reasons... could be none of them. I honestly don't know. :confused3

Funny thing. To this day, when I'm home and it's late, I won't turn on the lights but will navigate in the dark... because of that book.

We did it with Dee Dee, so,, how old is Mr. Pkondz?
Ponzi? Willing to play? You have all seen many pictures of me, but only one of him, and a shadow.
I've said my age many times, I will be 58 this November, so who wants to start it off?

If there's a prize, can I play? :rolleyes2

Uh uh, right. But the ONE thing you will NEVER forget,,,,,,,,,,remember when Nebo thought I was a woman?
You bring that up every trip report,,,, oh, you're due again. :lmao:

Gotta admit, I had fun with that. I think you referred to me as a female at least twice before I finally let you in on it. I was deliberately posting (at first) in a gender neutral tone and you decided I was female. I had fun letting it ride for a bit, though. :laughing:

Boy, the time flies by faster and faster. Seems I just
put in a chapter and now it's time again.
Well, so be it, it shall be done. Coming your way shorty.

shortly

geesh
