I am having to cut my trip budget, without cutting any days, so I think that we are only going to do the quick service dining plan. DH requested early on that I make sure that we have some really good dining that is sit down and not cafeteria-style herding through crowds for a bad cheeseburger. At first, I had all of my TS ADR's done, but I don't think we can do even half of them now. So, I was hoping to still keep a few in, and fill in with some CS that is a little nicer, more relaxing, elevated food, better atmosphere, etc. I had heard Columbia Harbor House? And maybe Tangierine Cafe (sp?)

What sayeth the disboards?

Pay OOP for the Plaza at MK. VERY affordable.

Pepper Market is another one -albeit at a resort property.

BOG is another one. For lunch- the food is very good.

Sunshine Seasons I think it is called at Epcot.

Also Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD Marketplace.

Question: are you getting the QSDP for free? If not don't bother paying for it, you'll lose money. Just pay OOP for your meals.

Love Tangierine Cafe and Columbia Harbour House. Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD is good. Be Our Guest is QS at lunch and TS at dinner, and you can get a FP+ for the lunch.

I adore the theming at Restaurantosaurus at AK. It's a burger place, but it's got a topping bar and it's incredibly clever inside. But a lot of people will probably recommend Flame Tree Barbecue there.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

WP is awesome! ....and if you are paying for the QSDP- SKIP it and pay OOP. You will save $$.

Many Epcot CS are just as good as some TS IMO. The CS in Morocco has great food, as well as a very nice seating area - Both indoors and out. Same with the CS in Mexico.

Katsura Grill in Japan
BOG
Woflgang puck Express, DTD
Sunshine Seasons

I think Be Our Guest is the closest you really get to a TS at a QS. You order and sit at your table and the food is brought to you and it is the same venue that is TS at night. The food is excellent it is one of the few places that allows you to refill your drinks.

Epcot is the other place with food most like TS. The Cantina de San Angel in Mexico has indoor seating available at La Hacienda during the day to give you the feeling of doing a full sit down. Seasons is a cafeteria but with options like Salmon and steaks on any given day.

I should have mentioned that... yes, we are getting the QSDP free with staying at AoA. I looked at staying offsite, but when you add the free food plus the other benefits, it started to not be such a great deal anymore.

If we can come up with the extra 452, I will upgrade from the QS to the regular DDP, so I can do a lot of the ADR's that I really really want to, but would cost more OOP than the 452.

I'd do the wave for lunch. It's awesome food and it won't set you back any more than a CS in the parks.

Liberty Inn in the American pavillion at Epcot has some great options. Allears.net is a great site for menus. They have every menu CS and TS with prices and they update them regularly :thumbsup2

Good Luck..

From the eyes of a first timer (paying OOP):
We enjoyed the nachos at the little Mexican CS in Mexico. It was a nice switch from the burgers I kept finding everywhere. DH also ate at the CS in China but I could not eat anything from there due to my fish/shellfish allergy. However, it looked good. Pecos Bill at MK had a good taco salad. They give you the shell and you fill it up from the toppings bar. I definitely thought the CS choice was better at DLR though. On the days we had no TS planned, it was harder to find different choices. MK seemed to have the best variety for CS though. I wanted to try Sleepy Hallow but never got the chance. Of course, BOG for lunch was amazing! (And they were wonderful with my food allergies)

We did the QSDP this June for the first time. While I know we may have saved a bit of money out of pocket, we had extra travelers that saved their own money to go so having a price was easier. Also, the group that travelled was great about choosing the most expensive items. :) I, too would definitely recommend printing all of the allears CS menus. We did and planned our meals almost like ADR's. In addition to things already mentioned, we also loved the food court at Port Orleans and had customized pastas. Also, CHH is a new "must do." Happy planning and I think you will be surprised how well you can do on the QSDP.
BTW, I never ate a cheeseburger or French fries.:cool1: HTH

Is Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD. Perhaps Be Our Guest is closish, others are simply counter service. WPE is head and shoulders above any other QS.

I like the counter service at the Contemporary; they have some of the same offerings as Sunshine Seasons. The monorail ride and down time are a nice respite from MK.

If you are in Animal Kingdom, the Yak and Yeti Local Foods Café (not Yak and Yeti sit down restaurant) has outstanding Asian food with very large portions :) We ate there on the dining plan with the meal and dessert, and we were so full that we couldn't finish the lunch meal and didn't have a need for dinner. The one potential drawback for some is that the seating is outdoors. One recommendation if you do choose to go here is I think they have a sandwich called something like Asian Chicken sandwich. Apparently it's pretty much a regular chicken sandwich, so you may want to try one of the other entrees that come in the huge boxes if you are looking for a more authentic Asian meal and/or a more filling meal (beef lo mein, honey chicken, etc...).

Another vote also for Be Our Guest Lunch and Sunshine Seasons :thumbsup2
