We're tossing around whether to go to Crystal Palace for lunch or dinner on our next trip (in late July). I know the characters will be the same, so all the kids will be happy (2 boys, ages 5 and 7, and 2 girls, ages 8 and 11)...but what is the difference in the lunch food and dinner food? DH and I have been to CP twice...once was for dinner, but all the way back in July 2008...and we loved it, both for food and characters. Last year we took the boys to breakfast and once again, we enjoyed it very much...both food and characters. This time, it will be a party of 10 including my nieces and everyone wants to go to either lunch or dinner. We would save a good amount of money if we go to lunch instead of dinner.

So I am thinking...since we are rope drop people, and we are aiming to go on an EMH morning and getting there well before 8am...we could do a lunch there around noon or so...that is usually when we stop for lunch with the kids on an EMH morning. Then we could take a stroll along Main Street and go into the little shops and stuff, and then back to our resorts for an afternoon break (and maybe not even return in the evening, saving us the hassle of traveling back there). Out of curiosity though...when do they stop serving lunch?

I don't know the time break between lunch and dinner but there's not a whole lot of difference between the two meals. Try the salmon--it's amazing!

According to the Unofficial Guide, the seating times are:

Breakfast: 8 - 10:30 AM

Lunch: 11:30 - 2:45 PM

Dinner: 3:15 - Park Closing

Thanks! I had the salmon back in 2008 at the dinner buffet...it's on the lunch buffet too?! Amazing! My mother will love this!

We did CP in January for lunch our first full day at MK and it was great. It was such a nice break in the day to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal without all of the craziness of a CS meal. Our ressies were around 11:45am and we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be seated. Unless it's changed, Salmon was on the buffet in January and DH said it was pretty good. We originally had it booked for lunch again on our upcoming trip, but had to cancel it since I had too many ADR's for breakfast & dinner and wanted to try new places! :thumbsup2

We had lunch there in November and thought it was very good! It was a nice way to break up the day:thumbsup2

We were there for lunch in 2010 and the biggest difference I noticed from dinner was the desserts. They were much more limited at lunch. Dinner had lots of different kinds of cakes, cobblers etc... where lunch just had cookies, cookie type bars and the like. (And the soft serve) I was so bummed as the desserts were one of my favorite things from 2009. We also noticed that there was no peel and eat shrimp at lunch like there was at dinner. Perhaps someone who has been more recently than me, knows if all the good desserts are at lunch now. :confused3

We did both lunch and dinner at Crystal Palace on our last trip, and honestly, I saw NO difference whatsoever. The salmon, carved beef, and turkey are out of this world. It's one of our favorite places to eat in MK, no matter what meal! Enjoy!

We've only done lunch, but we do it every trip. It is quite honestly one of the meals DH and I look forward to every trip. We have a special place in our hearts for the Mediterranean chicken, and we always appreciate the vegetables after a couple of days of CS meals. :thumbsup2 I do remember salmon at lunch this past April. I am sure dinner is good, too, but I don't think you'll be disappointed in lunch. We rope drop, too, so we are all good and hungry by noon...it's a great break in the day.

I'm OK with those desserts...and the kids will love the soft serve ice cream! Hey, I could always get something from the Main Street Bakery if I really *need* to! :rotfl2:

Sounds great! I did love the salmon there at dinner in 2008...I hope they still have it when we go! My dad will like carved beef!

Sounds good...usually we are all pretty hungry for an earlier lunch too, by noon. Unless we snack around in the morning, but that's rare. We do all the popular attractions early in the morning to avoid the huge lines later in the day. Looks more and more likely that we will go to lunch instead of dinner.

I could be wrong... but I think the carved beef at lunch is flank steak and prime rib at dinner. For the most part, I remember lunch being the same as dinner. But our last dinner was 2008, after that, we went 5 or so times for lunch on different trips.

Love Crystal Palace.... it's our favorite place for lunch... characters, convenient location, never waited long to be seated, good food. Also nice, if just want a quick lunch. DS and I went there and had a quick lunch (just as fast as if we did quick service) and were back to the rides/attractions in no time.
