Crypt above Marilyn Monroe's on ebay

It was interesting to read all the bid retractions. Can't wait to see what it ends up at.

ok fine, who's to say it is the actress Marilyn Monroe? Could be anyone else with the same name. fools being parted with their money.

That's hers. I've been to that cemetery. A lot of famous people there. And in such a strange location too.

It's near downtown LA, surrounded by tall office buildings. You'd never know it was there. It was weird.

Anyways.... I thought that spot belonged to Hugh Hefner???? :confused3

ETA - Look: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&s...uJIK&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1 - check out the street view. It's in a really weird spot.

Why is the origional body being removed??? Not paying their rent on time:confused3?

Heff has the crypt next to hers.

Farrah Fawcett is supposed to have been laid to rest there too.

I feel bad for the guy who will be moved. He thought he'd be there for eternity. Now through his wife's misfortune, he gets moved. Talk about robbing a grave. :sad2:

Huh? Tell me more.

I only saw it on the news. The man bought the space years ago. When he was laid to rest, they put him in the casket facing down so he'd be facing Marilyn.

The widow now has financial difficulties. So she is selling the crypt space to get money. I don't really think she knew how much it would bring in.

Did you see the shipping details:

Shipping: Local pick-up offered. :lmao:

I didn't read the whole thing before. There is a body there that is being moved? Thats terrible.:sad2

I had no idea you could resell a crypt after it was already filled. Seems so wrong.

Geez, that auction is certainly a new reason to be sure you leave enough life insurance!:lmao:

When my cousin visited from Germany, where my grandfather was born, I asked about the cemetery and what type of stones they'd used for the markers of my great-grandparents. She told me that she'd have to go look in Auntie's basement and would let me know.

I thought it was the language barrier and she didn't understand the question but was wrong. She patiently explained to this 'sophisticated American' that after a certain number of years they have to remove the head stone and the lot is sold/given to a new resident. The family members of the previous burials might still be living and so, in her family, they put the stones in their Auntie's basement. I still wonder if I could have misunderstood, she does use her translation book quite a bit so perhaps it wasn't what it sounded like. She never did explain what they did with the remains, if any existed after all that time but the visual image was enough for me. In either case, when we visit Germany, we've made a mental note never to look in the basement... :rolleyes1

From what I saw on TV during an interview with the widow, her DH bought THREE crypt spaces from someone years ago. It may have been Hugh Hefner. The DH was put in the one above Marilyn Monroe, leaving two empty ones for the widow and their family. She wants to pay off her house (not cheap) and leave it to her kids free and clear, plus whatever else she can. She doesn't care what spot she gets as her final resting place. :lmao: She plans to auction off the spot above MM, and relocate her DH one space over to one of the two other spots she owns. She'll someday take the remaining space for herself.

Actually, I thought she was pretty enterprising and practical. If you have 3 spots and you only need two, why not sell the one that is potentially worth a fortune and have a bit of money for yourself and maybe even have some left to leave for your kids? I'm sure her DH doesn't care if he's moved a few feet.

I thought that Hugh Hefner had the spot next to or above or something to Marilyn Monroe. Not that he will ever die, of course.

That's one way to look at it. Another is that the wife is tired of her DH being on top of MM and she's moving him! She gets final say. :lmao:

Actually, I think he would care. He must have gone to quite a bit to get the crypt above Marilyn in the first place. Then he made sure he would be laying face down to face her. If they move him one over to the left he will be face down on top of Hugh Hefner later! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't want my DH to be on top of MM for an eternity.
