We were going to go to Disneyland in spring and we were all ready to book it. Since we were going with other little kids we thought the Disneyland Hotel was perfect and i mean the kids were like 3 and 7. I heard that the grand hotel was great for adults but the Disneyland Hotel was great for the younger ones. So here we are ready to book it and my dad walks in a says no i am not going to that hotel and now all the other hotels are booked and he does not want to go anymore i am so upset but my mom says we will work it out

Is the Disneyland Hotel really that bad i did not think it was? It looked fun to me. Please respond back telling me if the Disneyland Hotel is horrible.

Thanks,

Not sure. But you might have better luck posting this over on the Disneyland board. Good luck, I hope you are able to go!

The Disneyland Hotel is a great hotel. It is one of the nicest hotels in Anaheim and the grounds have great theming, a waterfall and a long history of being the official hotel of Disneyland. The Grand Californian is the flagship hotel at the resort much like the Grand Floridian is at Disney World, but the Disneyland Hotel is nice and the rooms are larger. Strange that your dad would respond that way, I mean it isn't like you were talking about the Motel 6 or something.

We stayed at a Fairfield Inn directly across the street from DL a few years ago -- had a wonderful time and couldn't have gotten closer to the parks. It was literally a 5-10 minute walk from our hotel room to the entrance to DL and CA. Plus, the price was a steal compared to full price at the DL hotels.

No matter where you stay, you'll enjoy your trip!

Tell him that is WALT'S hotel, it was here when Walt was and it's more "disney" than anything else there. It would definitely be my first choice! Good Luck!

Our family stayed at the DLH in 2003. It is a terrific hotel. Many of the rooms sleep 5 (with a day bed). It's hard to get a bad view. The pool has aslide and a very large hot tub. The grounds are lovely. You can park your car and walk everywhere. We loved it. Go to laughingplace.com and you can find some pictures of it.

Sorry, but I didn't like DL hotel as much as I thought I would. We stayed at the Grand Californian the year before and that hotel was very close to the parks. The DL Hotel seemed a little too far, you needed to walk past DD to get to the parks and the hotel itself was a little spread out (we had the far tower). The next time we went we stayed offsite, right across the entrance (across the street) and it was much closer to the parks. We still had a lot of fun, after all it was Disney, but I wouldn't stay at DL Hotel again, that's just me. Please try to find another place to stay, many of the offsite hotels are really close to the park entrance and some offer free breakfast....you may enjoy them more.

ETA. When I said, "Please try to find another place to stay." my intent was for the OP to not give up and find someplace her entire family would be happy with, not necessarily for her to not stay at DLH, regardless of whether or not I would personally stay there.

No, the Disneyland Hotel is not that bad. I will say its not themed like you would see at other newer Disney hotels. Its rather plain, in my opinion. The pool seems to be the best for smaller kids and from what I hear, the rooms can accomodate 5. Cut your parents a break...sometimes there are other reasons that you may not be aware of. It could be a financial thing - perhaps the rooms that are available are just too expensive for your family right now. If other hotels are booked, look at other ways of booking them. Call their 1-800 numbers, call them direct, try travelocity, orbitz, etc. Usually you can turn up something! And, like someone else said, try posting under the Disneyland board. Maybe someone there has other ideas that could help you. Good luck.

Another option is Paradise Pier Hotel. We stayed here in Aug 03 and really enjoyed it. We had a room that overlooked Calif. Adventure's Paradise Pier section. The hotel has a Minnie and Friends character breakfast also. It is typical breakfast buffet foods, but has awesome omlets--Californians really know how to cook an omlet! A little overpriced, but good character interaction. We were able to walk to both parks. The rooms have been renovated since we stayed, but our old-style room was in excellent shape. Just one person's opinion, but it is another on-site choice.

Just an observation, you said you stayed @ DLH then said you had to walk past DD to get to the parks. Did you now know there is a monorail a hundred fee+ from DLH? We only walked past DD 2X to get to the front gate and we did that because we wanted to shop. I didn't think the hotel was spread out at all. Once you get in the main courtyard, which is the center of all towers, you were right in the middle of the action. Not doubting your experience, just observation.

To OP, this is the best accomodations experience I've ever had. Everything is pure magic, everything is impeccably clean, Customer service is 2nd to none, security is awesome, shops & dining amazing, grounds...no words to describe how amazing they are and rooms are big and comfy.

Honestly, there is nothing bad to say about the DLH. Sounds like maybe the person got some mis-information or taking a second hand account of one persons bad stay, In any event, I would stay here above all others. Whichever you choose, have a great time!!

Yes, we did use the monorail, once. I have two little ones and they made us fold the strollers. So, for us, it was easier to walk and push the kids than to get on and off the monorail. We are from Hawaii, it is much easier for us to go to Disneyland than WDW and therefore have been there numerous times. My post represented my thoughts on the hotel and I stand by it. If we went again I wouldn't stay there, even with an AP rate. I would either stay at the Grand Californian or offsite.

We took our family last September and had 3 rooms at the Disneyland Hotel. Taking the monorail into DLand was a breeze! Walking into Calif. Adventure through the Grand Californian was easy too. I would rather stay at the Grand CA, but for 3 rooms, we just didn't want to spend the $$$$! We really like the Disneyland Hotel - would stay there anytime we can! It ain't cheap - maybe that's bothering your Dad.

We love the Dland Hotel too- it's not as themey as some of the Florida Hotels, but it's still a very nice hotel. I wish I were going!

It's all walking distance, not a big deal IMO. We didn't stay in the Disneyland Hotel but offsite in the WONDERFUL Candy Cane Inn. We explored the DLH though and it seemed quite nice to me.

Has your Dad been there before? I can't imagine why he's so against it.

Tell Dad to stay his butt home then.

FYI and OT. We stayed at Paradise Pier and loved it.
