I thought it might be good to create another thread on the strange happenings near the Contemporary - especially since I have two Thanksgiving pictures of "something"!

Im still going to vote for dvc. whether that ends up being partial or full, I do not know.

I just cant see how they wouldnt do at least some DVC there. They could easily sell the whole thing as dvc if they wanted to, but even a limited number of units adds to the overall value of dvc.

I think it will indeed be a DVC (at least in part), but it won't be called CRV. The reason it won't be called CRV is because Honda has a vehicle called CRV. I also don't think it will be called VCR, for obvious reasons.

It may just end up being called Contemporary Family Suites.

Yes me too, I'm saving my money and bypassing the current add on sales so I can get DVC at the contemporary if it happens. If not my backup plan is just buy DVC in Hawaii lol. Win win it seems to me.;)

it's CRV as well. We know we want more DVC points but will NOT be adding on at all anywhere until an announcement is made on what that property is....no matter what incentives are offered to add on elsewhere!! ;)

Whatever it is, it's fun watching and wondering! Thanks for the pix, they sure are moving along! :wizard:

You are most welcome! Yes, I was impressed by the progress they have made since the last posted pictures. Of course, if you are building a 20+ story building, they still have a looooooooooong way to go!

I talked with a DVC kiosk guy several times - saw him at SSR, YC and Epcot. Asked him each time what the construction is. Reply was consistent: they could fire me if I told you!! lol

We had a good time discussing DVC. He pointed out two folks in the book they have at the kiosks, and said the joke was that if your picture made the book, you were no longer employed by DVC. He showed me two former employees. I pointed out one of the giraffes, and ask him if the giraffe was still there!

That's our weekend stays in the future regardless of what it is, unless it's a mirage.

Thanks for the pic's (unless it's photoshop). :rotfl2:

Last week I rode in front of the monorail, was the flag family, and just usually talk to the workers anyway when I'm waiting for something. I couldn't tell you how many people (CMs) were volunteering the fact that it was going to be a DVC resort even though I never mentioned I was a DVC member or asked for any information at all on the building.
I may have even seen this on a t-shirt:
Hi, Eric Stratton, Rush chairman, damn glad to meet you. And have you heard about the DVC wing at the Contemporary?

keep the animals @ AK:thumbsup2 ; no horses allowed

was it only a year ago that many DVCers were insisting it was merely an asbestos removal project?

We took the Fort Wilderness Segway tour this morning, and the leaders joked about the cranes from the new DVC resort they "weren't" building. :lmao:

I've said it before and I will say it again. I know its going to be DVC. They already have them at the preview center at SSR. I know this because I saw them when AKV just opened up. I am going to stick with what I saw. I don't think disney would waste the money to set it up at the Preview center at SSR if they weren't going to may it DVC. Its in the hallway right by the AKV. If the hallways were a "T" shape. The base is AKV preview rooms and CRV is the top of the T.

Pennyguy23 - everyone definitely believes you.

got told that yes it was between CRV and AKV - so models of both were done - but when DVC went with AKV - the CRV was put on hold.

Still also believe that the building will definitely be at least partial DVC if not the whole thing.

really, really wish DVC or Disney would tell us.

It has 3-bedrooms at the Top!!! so that also says DVC!

So I guess maybe they would take it down. :confused3 Thats alright. If they build it we will come. If not, we will go somewhere else. :thumbsup2

I doubt Disney really cares that much what the abbreviation would be. Other than those of us around here, most guests don't use the abbreviations.

How do explain SSR?

Chevrolet SSR

How about Contemporary Resort Annex Plaza?

For all I know, there's probably a Toyota BCV out there.:confused3

Thanks for the pics. Well, the one thing that is for sure is that they are going through with that awful C-shaped thing. :scared1:

While I love the idea of a DVC at the Contemp. I just don't like that design.

My guess is a mixed-use resort (it is one of the originals, don't forget...there is way too much history there to limit it to just DVC stays). And I also agree that Disney does NOT care about the abbreviations. Before the DIS and internet fan sites, there were no acronyms for these places....the abbreviations are used mostly by those of us on the fan sites.
