Crutches on an airplane?

Hi all!

I'll be needing crutches (and an ECV) on an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World. So how does it work on the airplane? Do I bring the crutches onboard with me, and the flight attendants store it, or do I check it in at the gate? (right before boarding?), or do I check it in the beginning, then find a wheelchair or whatever to get to the gate?

Thanks! :)

You will bring them on with you. The flight attendants are used to dealing with them. (Or at least, that is what I do.)

You can ride the ECV all the way down the ramp to the door of the plane. It will mysteriously appear at your destination.

As far as the crutches. Once you are at you seat the cabin attendants will take them and return them at arrival.

As Piper wrote, the flight attendants will know what to do with the crutches.

You may still want to contact your airline to arrange for a wheelchair to get from the check in area to your gate and also at the gate where you arrive in Orlando. The distance can be pretty long, especially from the gate at Orlando to baggage claim or DME (Magical Express).

You would still want to keep your crutches with you, but arranging for a wheelchair will help a lot with the distance.

Thank you all! This is all so new to me, there's so much to think about. Thanks for the tips.
