I have been scouring over the camera bag threads for quite some time, seeing what everyone else uses and if I can find THE PERFECT bag for my upcoming trip in June .

I have decided to get the Crumpler $6M home. I already have a Tamrac bag that is my mega bag that holds EVERYTHING quite nicely....and quite heavily. Won't be carrying that one to the park. I also have a Tamrac backpack bag. DH won't be with me on this trip to dig through the bag while it's on my back AND I don't want to continually have to take it off my back and put it on the whole day (it's the little things, ya know).

I have two questions about the Crumpler bag. (1) How RED is the red bag? Is it a muted red? I really wanted the blue one, but as many of you know it's discontinued. I don't want a black one because, frankly, I'm tired of carrying black bags all the time. (2) How is the strap on it? I thought I had read somewhere that it has some padding starting at the $6M point. I don't want to have strap burn from the bag if I can avoid it. Thought about buying the strap that you can get seperately, if necessary.

I will be carrying the Canon 50D with attached battery grip and kit lens, a 50mm, 100-300mm, and a fisheye that I will rent (mm's to be determined) as well as a Lensbaby 3G lens. I won't carry the LB and the 100-300 lens every day but will also be packing it with all the other little things (memory cards, etc.) that come with having a DSLR. Will all that fit, for the most part?

TIA

I have this bag,

I carry a 40D with grip, with a 24-70 f/2.8 attached, a 70-200 f/2.6 430 flash and 1.4 extender in it. I could probably fit a little bit more, if I had to, but it all fits in there real easy with just that. The two lenses are pretty big.

It does come with a added strap wrap. I have been very pleased with it. I have the black one, and it has a lighter interior so it is pretty easy to find stuff in it.

Can't help you on the red other than to tell you to look at their site, it is pretty accurate.

Thanks for your post. I went to the main page last night to see if there was a store that I could go to to physically hold one. They don't sell in my state, or surrounding ones! I'll be the first on my block to have one :rotfl:. Maybe I'll start a trend.

Glad to hear that the strap pad comes with it and that you have a camera similar in size to mine (with the battery grip). The photos all show a camera without one, was curious if it turned in to a big squeeze adding the extra to the bottom of the body.

Now to email DH and ask him sweetly if I can go ahead and order it from Amazon. I don't really care how vivid the red is, just glad I've found a bag that I like that comes in another color than black or deep green (the colors of my other bag). Have a camping/hiking trip over Easter weekend - I'd like to try the bag out on that before hitting WDW.

Cross your fingers for me!

I have the bag in red and it is REALLY red. No subtlety involbed at all. In general, the colors as shown on Amazon, etc for the Crumpler bags are accurate.

Thank you for the posting about the color. I ordered the bag from Amazon this morning. I was curious about the coloring because I had read that some people considered the blue almost purple. Is it so red that DH won't want to share carrying the load sometimes? Like girlie and not masculine enough?

Not sure about the red, but I got the brown/olive 6M from Amazon yesterday, and the actual color does indeed look the same as it appears to me on Amazon's website.

By the way, what are the side loops on the outside of the bag for? Dumb question probably, but how do you/will you use them?

You sound like you could use a guy's opinion. Did you order the new or old version of the bag? The new version is more "guy friendly" due to the lack of baby blue interior. The red is not my favorite but I would have no problem carrying it. Of course, other guys may have their own "issues". I don't consider the red "girly" though.

I got this one:

Looks like it is powder blue inside. I got red because I'm tired of black or dark green. Those are the only 2 colors I've had. They didn't have any other red interior options on amazon. I couldn't believe the price difference from the main .com page and amazon .

That's the old version they're clearancing off. Notice it actually is sold by Adorama. Here is the latest version with red option sold by amazon. It's more expensive though because it's not on clearance.

I wondered what the difference was in the two bags with the different prices! Thanks for accidentally clearing that up for me. I have so much equipment I need to get for this trip that I need to cut all the corners that I can.

I know my husband wouldn't want to carry it. I generally use the 5 Million dollar home instead (the 6 is a bit bulky for me) at WDW - but I bought that in Oatmeal. Ultimately, I think the red bag is probably slightly less girlie than the blue one - it is sort of a grey / dusky / slightly purple color...but I'm not a boy. ;)

I carry a $4M home in Oatmeal, but with a TinkerBell pin on it do you think I really worry about the color not being "manly" enough? ;)

:lmao::rotfl2:

It takes a very secure man to pull off a Tink pin.
