Hi Everyone
we are going to book our DCL cruise TODAY for Aug 25th NYC to Bahamas/WDW. We are so beyond thrilled to take our 4 yr old son, but also, sadly, this will likely be our last vacation as a family. We are bringing my parents, and my mom has Stg 4 Lung Cancer. With everyone's experience, what are some things we should think about or plan in advance for mom's comfort, safety, etc and what accommodations/help should we be asking of WDW/DCL to help us make this the best trip for her? Thanks!
In 2007 my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Knowing his time was short, he booked a DCL cruise for the whole family while he was still relatively healthy. He had just started chemo prior to us going and was very tired so we made mental plans to allow him to go nap when he felt he needed it, and also had made arrangements for a wheel chair to be available in his room if we needed it to wheel him around. DCL was great about it and made it a great trip.
He died in 2008 9 months after the trip, and we took a cruise on the one year anniversary of his passing (which also happened to be his birthday) and DCL brought us out a cake for his birthday, it was a special touch and really endeared us to DCL for life.
