Cruising the Dream on our 1st cruise ever!!! (5 Night Double Dip)

on board the ship! It was such a great present to see the Magic! That was one of the highlights of the cruise! We were in 687 waiting to go to dinner so we went right out onto Deck 4.

We were some of the people doing the Midship Detective Agency. Hope you got to finish! Also, we saw Mike Super coming out of one of the doors on Deck 4 right after the night that he performed. My DH shook his hand and told him we really enjoyed the show but we forgot to get a pic!

Villains Tonight was the show where it got interrupted a few times, right? We saw the earlier shows on the ship. Not sure if that's the one you attended.

I can definitely understand that. I try to fly Southwest whenever I can so that's usually not a problem, but I should have brought a second suitcase. Or maybe it's good I didn't...

If you don't need to buy anything it is a great deterrent....

Thanks for the great update and we love to see other ships out in the water and hearing the horn battle must have been fun!

Keep um coming!

Oh no! That doesn't sound good. What doesn't he like about the idea if you don't mind me asking?

It really was surreal, such a special thing to watch :goodvibes

No I don't mind you asking at all!! Here are a list of the things he is concerned about:

- norwalk / other illnesses going around the ship
- seasickness for us and DD's
- rough seas (goes along with above)
- being 'bored'
- feeling too confined on the ship
- he is not a beach guy, and likes to be on the go

There are a few other reasons...but those are the main ones. Also it didn't help that when we started discussing a cruise the Costa Concordia sank...didn't help my cause at all!:sad2:

It's all good though...I am not finished with him!!;)

Yes, it was a highlight for us too. So, well, magical :) what a wonderful birthday that must have been :)

I really think it was him, those diamond earrings were like beacons even from the balcony so I couldn't forget them! And really enjoyed his show, it was done so lavenously :)

We were at the earlier shows also and I don't remember it getting interrupted. What happened?

Disney is so amazingly safe. I was very impressed. When the Costa accident happened we weren't worried even one tiny bit because we knew safety is Disneys #1 priority. Followed closely by people having fun, but safety is first.

I was a little woozy the first day, kept feeling the ship moving, but after that was perfectly fine, and mom never had an issue.

You'll only get bored if you go out of your way to. There is so much to do every minute of the day, it's pretty much impossible to be bored. And I was in love with the Dream so never felt confined, she is so beautiful I would have been happy to have no stops at all.

I hope you get him to be open minded about cruising, it's amazing!!!

It was so neat to hear. I'll try to upload that video tonight so you guys can hear it. Will try for an update tonight also. :)

Thank you so much for all the info...it helps me out alot. :flower3: You have been great to provide so much detail about everything to a newbie!! I know it's a big step for us, but I am going to keep encouraging him because I think it would be a magical vacation for our family, different from WDW but just as good. And the girls would be in absolute awe, I don;t think they even imagine that we would do a disney cruise. So happy I stumbled across your trip report...:thumbsup2

It is definitely as magical as WDW, just different. Totally wonderful and amazing in its own right. I was much more relaxed on the cruise because everything was within a short walk of everything else, unlike WDW.

As of now I can't figure out how to download the video of the horn battle. All the other videos I took were on my phone which were so easy to upload to photobucket. I'll keep trying.

After the Magic disappeared from sight we changed into our formal wear and headed to the Royal Palace, it was about 8:00. Mom was wanting to get to the table early since our tablemates had beaten us to dinner every night. She insisted we go right to the restaurant. Well, they don't open the doors before 8:15 so we stood in line. After a few minutes she realized I spoke the truth and decided to come back at 8:15. We got a picture with Captain Gus, which unfortunately didn't turn out, and then headed to the shops.

Instead of going shopping we decided to pay for our tips at Guest Services. I highly recommend doing this early so you don't have to wait in line. We just walked right up to the counter and put our tips on our account. We gave our stateroom hostess an extra $10 each above the recommended amount, and I think we should have given her more. She really made our vacation that much more amazing with her kindess and wonderful service. You can also prepay your tips before even getting on the ship so you don't have to worry about it at all.

By the time we did that and filled out our tip envelopes the restaurant had opened and in we went. Of course our tablemates were already seated.

Look how cute our napkins were done.

very delicious bread, classified as a Warm Herb Brioche.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012795.jpg

We both started with the Double Baked Spinach Soufflé Coated with a Three-Cheese Cream. I do not think I'll get this again, while good it was not great.

Mom had the French Onion Soup. She said it was fabulous.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012797.jpg

We both had the Royal Market Green Salad with Cherry Tomato, Cucumbers, Peppered Goat Cheese and a Raspberry Vinaigrette. Very delicious.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012800.jpg

Mom wasn't interested in any of the entrees so also had the Avocado-Citrus Salad With Iceberg and Radicchio Leaves and an Orange Vinaigrette. Somehow didn't get a photo of this, but she said it was the best salad of the cruise.

I had the Oven-Baked Salmon Royale Crowned with King Smoked Salmon and Horseradish Crust accompanied by Sautéed Swiss Chard, truffle-infused Cauliflower Purée, and White Wine Beurre Blanc, and gratin potatoes that usually come with the pork chop. Both were quite delicious.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012799.jpg

She had the Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée With Macaroon. She loves creme brulee, and this was not the best. She stilled enjoyed it though.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012803.jpg

She also had the Grand Marnier Soufflé Infused with fresh Orange Zest and served with Crème Anglaise. She still talks about how fantastic this was. The absolute best dessert of the cruise.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012805.jpg

I had the sugar free Chocolate Ganache Served with Breton Sablé and Mango Coulis which was absolutely amazing! Totally surpassed the previous best dessert for me.

DisneyDreamandJamboHouse2012802.jpg

and the sugar free Mango Cheesecake With Whipped Cream and Fruits, which was also very good.

While waiting for dessert Charlie and Tibor, our Head Server, entertained us with card tricks. It was so much fun and they seemed very pleased we enjoyed it so much.

At the end of the meal and wonderful conversation we told our tablemates we wouldn't be joining them the next evening, the last evening, we would be going to Palo. They seemed disappointed, and when we walked out of the restaurant I felt sad. We had enjoyed these people so much, and I was reconsidering out dining choice. I tentatively asked mom how she felt about missing our new friends and she felt the same as I did. We actually decided to cancel our specially planned Palo evening which I had been dreaming about for many many months and we're both very happy we decided to do so. We went right to guest services to ask how to cancel and they called them for us. Our hearts were heavy no longer :)

After dinner we did a little shopping where I picked up this super cute tote bag.

Mom got a bathing suit which she loves, wishes she had gotten two. That will be on the list for next time.

We had decided to go to the Muppet Movie that evening which started at 11:00, so after shopping we headed to the Buena Vista Theater. This had been on the to do list the whole cruise and I'm glad I was able to cross it off. I had never found the time to see it in theaters last year and was super excited to find it offered during the cruise. It was fabulous. There weren't that many people in the theater with us, maybe ten others, but it was really fun and the theater was beautiful.

we bought some popcorn and soda. We didn't have time to go up and get a free soda from the beverage station, but you can do that and bring it down. You can also bring any of the food offered into the theater. The mother/daughter duo at our table had breakfast while watching a movie one morning.

I stayed up for a while updating my journal, and around 2 am was officially caught up. It was a fabulous relaxing day!

Just wanted to ask you...is it best to book online for a cruise...or call? Just wondering....:rolleyes1

I just read your last update. I'm sure I have some catching up to do but had to comment on how delicious your meal and all those desserts looked.

Were your tablemates totally surprised when you showed up for dinner the next night? No regrets on missing Palo? I know - you are saving that for your next cruise - right!

Oooohhh, I like the sound of this :) if you call you can ask if they have any specials happening at the moment which they sometimes do. I enjoy booking directly through DCLs website since I'm a very hands on organizer and like to see all the options available. Some people like to use travel agents, you can get onboard credits through them sometimes. It's all a matter of personal preference. You can actually go through the entire booking through DCL and take up to five days to make your down payment. You're able to pick your dining preference and stateroom number while seeing where it is on the ship. I highly recommend looking at the stateroom reviews before picking a specific one, or after you're assigned one see how other people thought of it and change if it got bad reviews. It could be above the clubs or near some noise you'd rather not have.

Dinner was fabulous and the desserts just so delicious!

We actually saw some of them on CC the next day and told them what we had decided and they were sincerely very happy we had changed plans. They had felt the same way we had. No regrets at all. Now perhaps if we'd been to Palo before we'd know what we were missing but this way it was exactly as you put it, something else to look forward to :)

:tiptoe:SSHHH I don't want to jinx it!!:cool1: We are very close! Now, for us we would be booking a deluxe oceanview family stateroom on the Fantasy. I would have absolutely no clue where would be good. How do you suggest I search this?? We are such newbies it is embarassing!!

p.s. I think I have slightly lost my mind!!

Just for information did you get a DVC email showing you the discount price per person if you booked the Fantasy
