Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

Nobody will notice if you wear the same outfit for all 3 formal nights if packing more could be a bit difficult. Particularly if the dress is black. For me I might need a bigger one for later in thecruise though:rotfl2:

Totally agree. This is our 3rd cruise and too busy having fun to notice.

Hi there,

Our family is booked for the cruise on May 1, 2015! My name is Mari, my DH is Jeff, DS is Jonathan age 10 and DD is Carmen age 6. We are from Fairfax, Virginia (DC area) and are looking forward to a great trip. DH and I will be celebrating our 50th birthdays pixiedust:pixiedust: so we are very excited for the trip with the kids. Thank you so much for organizing all the details. Look forward to meeting you all soon!!

Safe travels!

Mari

Welcome! We live in Dumfries, VA right down the road from you. :) Our DD Kaiden is also 6!:goodvibes

Unfortunately we had to cancel this cruise. :( With all of the things that we've had to deal with this year, there's no way we'll have the pay-off amount in time for the end of December. As a "consolation" we are planning a tip to WDW next July for our anniversary.

I know you will all have a great time, and I hope to cruise with some of you some day.

P.S. Please remove us from the FE list and the Mixology Class list.

Good evening everyone! I have been very absent from this group and I apologize. Work has been crazy and we have a trip beginning next month that has taken most of my focus but I still am so looking forward to this trip.

I have an offer - I contacted Dora in Cartegena on someone's recommendatin here (Marilyn??) and there would be extra room in our van if someone would be interested in joining JanDave and the Lindamoods. If you send me a PM, I will be happy to fill you in on the details.

Have a great weekend!!

If you go to pancanal.com you will able to watch some of the wonders transit today

Hello everyone!

We booked this cruise on opening day but the Disboard pages have taken a back seat as we prepared for our Transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to San Juan, Puerto Rico and the B2B first cruise out of San Juan for the Southern Caribbean.:mickeybar

We had a great time on board as always and love the longer cruises. The Panama Cruise has been a long time coming for us and we are looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying many sea days plus gaining all those hours as we travel.

We live in the UK and are travelling with our friends from Kentucky. We met many cruises ago as table mates and quickly became firm friends....we have stayed with them, cruised with them and they have stayed with us.

There was mention of dressing for formal/semi formal nights and we had many of those with 3 weeks of cruising plus a dinner at Palo's. I took along a simple long black dress with a range of over tops so the look changed many times and packing was simple and this is what I will be bringing again. DH packed his tux with 3 different waistcoats (vests I believe is the American term) plus a white shirt and black shirt to ring the changes.

:fish:As the Panama is our next cruise I can now concentrate on that and hubby is looking forward to diving at some of the ports. He has been diving for over 40 years so if there is a dive buddy of similar experience out there please get in touch.

Looking forward to future chats.:chat:

Babydiver, happy to have you both join the group! Sounds like you are both experienced travelers, that like to have fun. This should be a great trip!

Haven't be able to be on the board much lately since my DH John and I just got married on the 20th and I am in the middle of my final semester of my RN program. I keep up with the facebook group since that comes to my phone. Looking forward to this cruise it will be our honeymoon and first really vacation since March 2012 when we got engaged at Disney Hilton Head Resort because of being in the nursing program.

Yay!! The kids will have so much fun! Sorry for the late reply... busy, plus FB is sooo much more convenient.

Look forward to meeting you on the cruise. What Virginia candy are your thinking of? I am Mari Musalen Thomason on FB.

Happy Friday!:cool1::cool1::cool1::goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We've booked this cruise as soon as it posted, but have been trying to decide about whether we could pull my 7th grader out of school for two weeks to do this. We are planning this for my dad's 75th birthday.

I talked to the guidance counselor last week who seemed to think we could work out her testing schedule!! So far she has straight A's----let's hope she keeps it up so that it makes it easy for the principal to sign-off on the extended absence.

It will be me (43), DH (42), DD (12), DD (10) & DM (75) DF (75). This will be our 7th DCL cruise and one we've really wanted to do. So excited that it looks like it might work. Fingers crossed!

Whilst I am not one of those who think cruises are 'educational', you could argue that this one is with being the Panama Canal and maybe help your cause:thumbsup2. There is plenty of stuff out there you could get for your children to do. There used to be some things on the Panama Canal website too for children. I know there is a book out there. For the older kids the kids programme seems to have some homework slots too.

This is from the Panama Canal website.

There is lots out there if you google it. Always good to have the children a bit clued up before the big day. Though in the end they usually go off to kids work pretty quickly :rotfl2:

Hi there! Finally joining this cruise thread. We've had it booked since opening day, but I just forgot. Anyway, we just got off the Sept.27 Southern Caribbean, and had a wonderful time.

Matt, CCGMatt, 34M, From Ohio. This will be my 8th Disney Cruise.
Sharon, Quiltersharon, My mother, from Ohio. This will be her 5th Disney Cruise.

Can't wait. We'll join the FB page too!

Just booked this cruise for our family of five. Have sailed on Fantasy last November. Excited to cruise on the Wonder. We will all have so much fun!!!

I know what you are going through with the school thing. My ds is in 8th grade and he also has straight A's. The school has a 8th grade trip planned to D.C. During part of the cruise so he will really only miss 8 days. I am very nervous for this Tuesday because we have teacher conferences so I know they will want to know why I haven't signed him up for the trip.

This made me snicker. I volunteered this year and coached MS/HS volleyball at our school. As we wrapped up last week, they asked me to coach basketball because their coach quit at the last minute and they hadn't found a replacement. I told DH this weekend he needed to make an appointment with the administrator to discuss the trip since I had to be at the school every day. We're in a similar situation where my niece will be missing her class trip. We'll work something out with the teachers and hope giving them this much notice helps the annoyance they're going to have with it.

I'm sure if the principal approves, she will come with lots of homework. That's just fine with me! Her Algebra class uses an online textbook, so we can access that abroad (DH has an international data plan).... It's only going to get harder as she gets older, she's still in middle school this year. Next year she'll be st the high school (8th is housed at the HS and they can take HS level courses) which makes it harder. This is the year to do it! Dd9 is still at a private elementary school where travel is highly valued and the teachers are really flexible...that won't be an issue, I'm sure.

Thanks for the links.....
