Since this is our first Disney cruise I think that we will stay onboard and explore.

We are leaving on Wednesday for our anniversary cruise PM me if you need me to check anything onboard (I have been asked to measure the elevator door opening - lol) or mail a postcard to your kids, etc...

Can't wait for the cruise......spending 7 days @ WDW first..........Staying at Saratoga Springs. We are a family of four - two kids (son-9 & daughter -10).....We go to Disney every year and did go on the cruise before when my son was 3 1/2......Actually, not the BEST time......unfortunately the wind was a little strong on Castaway Cay day - they tried to dock the boat 3 or 4 times and found they could not dock it safely - So we were forced to spend the day at sea!! Needless to say we were all bummed .......on top of that - chasing my son around the ship for hours got a little old .......he was not yet completely potty trained - so he would need to go to the nursery which did cost money and he was a little old for it - so we just kept him all day....my daughter just stayed in the pool ...I'm sure the kids had a GREAT time..........but I vowed to not go on a cruise again until they were much older..........WELL, that time has come!! We are all very excited and cannot wait to FINALLY get to Castaway Cay!!

Castaway is Awesome!! We've been on two DCL and have only been able to go to castaway once. Here's hopeing for good weather this trip!!

Man, I thought I was the only one ever (except for the others on my boat) that missed out on CC........! I have heard of it happening.......they said that it was only the third time in the history of the ship!! but I'm so curious what happened on your trip? What time of the year was it? How was the weather? It was actually nice out on our trip - but they said the wind was blowing just the wrong way enough to make the docking very difficult.....sooooo depressing Did you have the kids with you?
We decided to go to the aquarium & the beach on Nassau day.......you got me thinking about hanging on the ship - now I am confused....maybe the kids would like to stay in the Oceaneers Lab.....? We have to do our bookings at the end of the month........what do you think?

I just read your trip reports from the past......! Those darn hurricanes! I guess during that season it's not really that unusual........That trip of ours was in December - so it was really unexpected..........Here's hoping that January is nice to CC........

Maybe it was the third time due to wind. But it seems like CC has been closed down a few more then three times. In 1999 when we cruised our first time they said that was CC first closure. we get all the luck!

Since your kids are older it may be fun to take them to the aquarium & the beach. Ours are still going to be little. Sklyar won't turn one until a week after the trip You can always book it and change your mind later.

I think it was 2002..........I'm sure it's happened alot since then.......
Anyway, we were going to do the waterpark at Paradise Island.......but it is soooo expensive....we live near a really nice waterpark........they can go there in the summertime!!
I guess it will be nice to get off the boat for a while.....the kids love the aquarium too.......

Hi All! We will be joining you on the Wonder on 1/29! It is myself (35) my honey (he's also 35) my daughter - age 9 and his mom - 68! We decided that the Disney Cruise was going to be our Christmas gift to each other I stumbled upon these boards through my voracious internet surfing on all things disney cruise related and am hooked! After reading through this thread i was so happy to see that i was not the only one starting to pack already, getting the snorkle gear ready, stocking up on sunscreen, flips flops and ginger pills Now we are deciding if we are going to dress up for the pirate party! Duty calls - I am off to help with homework...

Eeyore7360, we just got off the Wonder and there were 2 different DCL scrapbooking kits at the Mickey Mates gift shop.

We had a great time! What a difference without the kids in tow...everything was so easy and laid back! Definitely glad we did it - I was nervous about leaving the kids but they had fun with their grandparents and I got over leaving them pretty quickly! It also made disembarkation much better than usual - I was looking forward to seeing the kids again so I was not sad to leave as I usually am...also knowing we would be back in a few months helped too! lol

For the most part we had good weather - late in the day on CC day we had downpours and thunder & lightning but we had gotten off the ship early so we had plenty of sunshine & time on CC. Here's a couple of pics from CC:

I took pics of most of the food we ate- my DD had asked me too - and it helps out here on the dis too! I've got to get them into photobucket...

I may write a trip report if I can find the time...

Theres a picture a few posts down on this link. You put them outside of your cabin and fellow cruisers put goodies in them - and you do the same. At least thats what I understand. This will be the first time I have one.
