Cruising on the Wonder Jan.29, 09

Welcome Candice! I just read over on the 1/25 thread you were cancelling - I'm glad to see you were able rebook to this one! :goodvibes

Iris, I'm glad you got your postcard - we just got ours too - gee, it only took 3 weeks!!!

Hey Nat, we must have been on insuremytrip at the same - we just booked our insurance the other night too! I learned my lesson the hard way with the insurance thing - we never purchased it in the past (I didn't really understand it) and on our trip this past January I ended up breaking my ankle in Cancun and spending vacation in a wheelchair :headache: We are now buying insurance for each trip!

Happy weekend everyone - we're close to the 3 month mark!!!

So Beth, do you mean you buy insurance for every cruise or EVERY trip? I bought the insurance because of what I had read in so many trip reports, but have never purchased it for any other vacations or trips to WDW. Clue me in, will ya?:headache:

:) I'm trying to get my parents to come with. They can book a lvl 12 gty for $720!!! The only thing holding them back is my dad. He doesn't like the idea of being in the middle of the water on a big boat.

I wish that I could talk my folks into the trip. No luck there.

Does your DH know about the cruise yet? (I was reading prior posts. lol)

Well so far since that incident, the big trips we have planned have been cruises :) For land vacations, I think it would depend on how much we spend up front & whether or not it is refundable. Also, it would depend on the quality of medical care where we were going and what my own personal health insurance would cover. For example, we did a road trip for a few days over the summer - I didn't consider any insurance for that. Speaking with various insurance companies, most would have covered the accident in Cancun, both the medical portion as well as reimbursing for my portion of the trip costs (since I was basically out of commission for the entire trip), they also would have covered any fees I incurred if I had decided to fly home early. The past couple of years I have had bad luck on vacation - the year before for our WDW trip, I ended up coming down with a Noro-type thing and that knocked me out for a few days :headache: Hopefully I never have to use the insurance, but it makes me feel better having it :)

I am a former travel agent I have to say , I cringe at the thought of doling out thousands to go on a trip and not have any travel insurance. Expecially when it involves travel to foreign countries. Being on most ships , Disney or not , you ARE on foreign soil. If you were to get hurt , your reg health insurance may not cover it.
Also there is the practile stuff. You pay on a trip for a year, what happens (knock on wood) if someone gets sick or there is a situation that hinders you from going. You get a flat tire on the way to the airport.
I mean I love Disney , but would not want to just give them my money. Right?

I bought our trip insurance through insuremytrip.com and feel that it was well worth the piece of mind! I had opted for disney's travel insurance but after i found the boards and heard about the great rates that offered coverage on everything (we did not book air through disney) i called disney and opted out - and then purchased it much much cheaper through insuremytrip. Disney was very sweet about the whole thing. :goodvibes

Hi everyone. We will be cruising with you all after spending five days in the parks. My party is Dh, our two boys who will be seven then, ILs, and myself. This will be the first cruise for all of us and the first time we have traveled with the ILs. They will just be joining us for the cruise so shouldn't be bad. Dh, the boys, and I love going to WDW and DL so think this should be a fun addition. I lobbied for a week cruise but was out voted with people wanting to ride rides.

Looks like I have many pages of reading to do to catch up on who will be with us. Not sure why I never thought to look for a cruise page but better late than never. :confused3

Hi! The more the merrier. :)

We will be at the parks for 4 days before.
Where are you staying? We'll be at the Poly.

:welcome: :sail:

Were staying at The Wilderness Lodge starting on Saturday.

Welcome 4ollies! We are traveling with our 3 kids (one is a DS7!) and my parents also. Haven't decided where we are staying precruise yet...

Hi 4ollies! we are traveling with our MIL too! Taking her with us as her xmas gift - she hasnt been on a trip in 18 years! I thought it was time we fixed that :santa: Wish we would have been able to go to WDW before hand but we are flying in just for the cruise and then back home again - we both have our own business so it is hard to pull away - but we are not clueing the staff in that cell phones work now on the boat :rolleyes1
