cruising on points and trip insurance?

Does anyone know how trip insurance works if a cruise is booked on points? If I had to cancel within 60 days of the cruise, would I get points back or a cash amount based on the points used? Would it be the full amount of the cost of the cruise, or just a portion? I have a cruise booked for next year with cash, but am thinking of rebooking with points. I know it's not the best use of points but we have some extra and I don't feel like renting. I figure if we're cruising anyway, why not use the points. If anyone can help with the insurance question, I would certainly appreciate it! Thanks!
