Hi all,

First time Disney Cruiser here. I'm a seasoned vet of RCCL. I'm wondering how much there will be for my husband (24) and I (23) to do on a Disney Cruise. We love the adult entertainment options on RCCL and are wondering if there are this type of activities on DCL. Neither of us are big drinkers so sitting around at a bar is not appealing to either of us.

We will be on the Wonder for the last part of our spring break. Arriving in Orlando the 10th. 5 park days and then heading to Canaveral for the cruise.

Thanks!

Congrats on your first Disney Cruise!

My wife (29) and I (30) have been on 2 7day Merrytime cruises out of Galveston on the Wonder, both kidless. Once was just us 2, we were 27 and 26, and the other time we had 6 adults in our party. We had a tremendous time on both cruises. We aren't big drinkers either, just a cocktail after dinner or during the show. The adult only areas like Cadillac Lounge, Crown and Fin, and Azure have comedy shows, game shows, magic/illusion shows, dancing, live music, etc.

Up top, there is an adult only pool and 2 spas (Quiet Cove) with a bar, and a coffee shop (Cove Cafe). They have pastries and coffee (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options) available, and places to sit and play board games, cards, relax. There are also adult only wine/liquor tastings and some have chocolate pairings with them.

Then there is Palo, the 18+ restaurant for a meal away (super tasty). The movie theater also plays some PG-13 movies late at night a couple of the nights of the cruise; we watched Bridge of Spies one night that started at 11pm.

Truthfully, there is quite a bit of adult entertainment, the Personal Navigator (daily agenda for the whole ship) has a legend with what is going on for adults only throughout the day and night. I think you will have a great time!

Why are you going on a DCL cruise? You must have some expectations. I hope you enjoy your cruise a lot!!

There are night adult activities after the second showing of the main show, so starting around 10. Sadly we are hardly ever up, even when we have things penciled in to try!

OK we are seniors so 10 seems like a reasonable bedtime for us!

There are lots of Adult only activities after 9 PM. Performers (like comedians, jugglers, etc.) that do family shows during the day do adult shows at night. Still pretty clean but definately adult oriented. There are lots of audience interactive shows too, like Majority Rules and Match your Mate which can be fun. During the day there are also animation classes, cooking demonstrations and towel folding that you may find interesting. I don't think you will be bored at all, if you don't want to be.

I was traveling with my teen-aged sons, but found plenty of time to hang out in the adult areas. For the most part, they are kid free and often much less occupied than other areas of the ship.

Plus, it seems from your photo that you still enjoy some "Disney Experience" despite being an Adult, so you'll enjoy the character meetings as well.

Enjoy!

Plenty to do with out involving alcohol if you want. And Plenty to do without the kiddos as well.

There are the Adult Only areas of the ship:
  • Adult Pool area and Cove Cafe / Outlook up front on the pool deck(s).
  • the Spa (most items carry a hefty price tag, the gym is free)
  • After 9pm, the adults entertainment area (formerly Route 66 - now call After Hours(maybe)) is kid free
  • Palo - sea days Brunch and evening dinners are for the over 18 crowd (reservations required $30/person)

Activities
  • There are lots of activities planned for sea days, fewer on port days. Most are Family oriented, some are adults only - check the Daily Navigators
  • DCL has two dinner seating: Main and Late. Main starts sometime between 5:30 and 6:00 and Late starts at 8:30. If you have main dinner, your evening's show is at 8:30. If you have Late dinner, your show starts between 6:00 and 6:30 (BEFORE your dinner). Typically there are fewer kids at the late dinner.
  • There are a variety of shows between the dinner seatings. Pick one and enjoy. Even though its been years since we have sailed with anyone under 18, we still go to the family "game shows" - Mickey Mania, Walk the Plank/Pirates game, etc.
  • We always try to make it to the "late night adult entertainment" - 95% of the time the performers are terrific.
  • Shore Excursions: Some are adults only, others are families. Pick ones that interest you.

Other things: Deck 4 is usually pretty nice. Walking track around the outside (mostly) of the ship. Loungers, Shuffle board. Ok so that was only one more thing!

At this point in my life (I'm way more than twice your age), I like to relax on the cruise. I get up, walk a few miles, have some breakfast, sometimes go to the pool, sometimes just hang out on deck 4. Take in some of the days activities. Eat ...

After 15+ DCL cruises (and over 110 nights) the hardest part of the trip is deciding what NOT to do. DCL keeps me busy. I don't have time to go to the many movies that they show onboard - too many other things to do.

Have FUN!!

When our family sails now we are all adults -- my DD is 29. And we love the Disney shows, and the adult area and entertainment are awesome. Plus just enjoying their classy ships and the dining rotation is a plus, too. Also request a table for two on your reservation if you don't want to mingle at dinner.

Hi Bobbi!

I am a huuuuge Disney fan (husband doesn't consider himself a fan) and I am interested in potentially selling travel at some point! Trying to get as many experiences under my belt as possible. :)

places to sit and play board games, cards,
Where are there places to play cards in the Quiet Cove area? We've only ever found tables large/high enough for that in the sports bar (formerly known as Diversions) or in Cabanas during non-meal times. And there were only like 3 of them in Diversions.

I was specifically referring to Cove Cafe. The party of 6 adults we had last November found a table downstairs in the cafe that seated 6 us of comfortably to play dominos, and upstairs, we pushed two tables together and played cards two different days. Given, this was a year ago now, and I'm not sure if there were any changes made to those areas in dry dock, but that was my point of reference, not necessarily outside by Quiet Cove Pool.

Cove Cafe is a perfect place to play cards. Just added cards to my reminder list for our January girls cruise.

I just checked back through my pictures - I can't see any tables that are high/big enough (like dining table height) to play cards on in any of the Cove Cafes or the Outlook Cafe (on the Wonder). They are all just the coffee table-style (low). Unless they've added them in the last couple of years.

There are higher tables in Diversions, but not many.

We are kidless. We have only been on one Disney Cruise (ever), for 14 days, through Panama Canal. We had a ton of fun, and found DCL catered to us as a couple, just as well as they do families.

I'm jealous! 3/17 is the opening of "Beauty and the Beast". You'll get a special screening!

DH and I have sailed DCL by ourselves several times on all ships except the Fantasy. (We sailed with our DD CL on that ship). It's a great time and can be a great adult vacation.

Well if you happen to be a fan of Beauty and the Beast, the live action version is scheduled to be released on that day, so you should be able to see in on board as a PremEAR at sea.

We recently did a B2B Med/Trans that lasted 18 nights on the Magic. In our 70's, we found plenty to do during the 9 "at sea" days...some activities unique to the cruise (i.e. adult scavenger hunt). Not to worry, you will have plenty to do. Right now, don't over think/plan the cruise. Some of the fun is found in discovering new things to do once you are on board...and Captain Hook might just come up behind you and tap you on the shoulder, like he did to my wife...unexpected fun.

My husband and I (both 26) went on a Disney Cruise (Disney Dream, Bahamas) last year for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. We are not drinkers either, and I feel like Disney was perfect for us because there was so much to do that didn't involve alcohol. The ship was pristine and we felt so comfortable the whole cruise. The shows were fantastic and we both loved them! Palo was our favorite experience of the whole cruise--the food and service are amazing! For our normal dining rotation, we were paired with another honeymooning couple from the UK, and we had a great time talking with them at dinner. We were supposed to have a 3rd honeymooning couple with us at dinner, but they never showed up. It was only a 4-night cruise, so I feel like we didn't get to do everything the ship offered. There were so many activities, including adult-only activities, that we wanted to try but didn't get the chance to (like a cooking class that taught how to make my husband's favorite meal from the cruise--lobster ravioli). We are going on a 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy in 2018 (again, without kids) and we can't wait! With more days at sea this time around, we are definitely trying out more activities on board.
