We are hoping to take our first Disney cruise in January. We're hoping to do the 4 day cruise that departs on January 5th. I'm wondering if anyone who has cruised during this time before can tell me how it was. Was it too cold?
Thanks!

we have cruised twice in January with a third one planned for Janaury 2003.

For us, we believe the weather has always been terrific, and don't think the weather too cold. We have never encountered problems with water too cool for swimming. Of course though we are from the middle of Iowa, and in January our temps can go as low as 30 below so we feel like we are experiencing a heat wave in the middle of January...

We'll be taking our first cruise in January 2004. I'd love to hear more reports and experiences with the weather for that time of the year.

We took our very first disney cruise in January 2001. I have lived in Florida for 7 years and that January was the coldest weather we have had since we have lived here. The morning we were sailing, we woke up to 36 degrees. The wind was so chilly for the sailaway celebration, all 11 of us were huddled in a group. Then it rained the day we went to Nassau. Of course we were expecting better weather, so we didnt pack any warm clothing. And the waters were sooooo rough. We were not able to get to Castaway Cay the first day, and had to wait until the next to get there. Which actually worked out better, because the temp got up to 82 that day. All in all it was a great cruise. I have also sailed in November, April and now will be sailing again in October. We also have booked another cruise on the Wonder for January 23rd. Hopefully the weather will be more coopertive:) I don't care what time of the year we cruise, we just look for the best deals and take them.

We sailed in January ('02) and the weather was great. It was a little cool leaving port but everywhere we went was warm and sunny (80's+). I know it can be a time of year that varies but if I could be sure we would get the same weather, I would sail in January every time. Just our experience...

My sister-in-law went January 02 and ended up going during an unusual cold front. She said they couldn't even dock at Castaway Cay due to the high winds. Apparently the crew tried 5 times to dock unsuccessfully. She had not packed any warm clothes so they bought sweatshirts on board which they wore the entire time. But just as with anything Disney, they still had a great time. There was plenty to do on the ship and the other ports. She loved it. Her children (ages 9 and 7 at the time) didn't want to leave the kids' areas!

We sailed in January 02 on the 4 day Wonder and the first day at the sail away party was windy and sweatshirt weather. Nassau day was sunny and 75 and Castaway Cay was sunny and 80!! It's hard to say with the weather. In March of 2001 we sailed out of Port Canaveral on the Royal Carribean Soveriegn of the Seas and it was windy and cold the entire 4 days. When we got back to Orlando they said the temps had dropped to 35 that night. I thought we would be fine in March so you never know. There is so much to do on the ship, that if you did encounter bad weather you could still have a WONDERful time! I'll send some Pixie dust your way *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~! Good luck and have a great time.

We did a 4-day in Jan. 2002. The weather was perfect, the pools were comfortable, and the snorkeling at CC was terrific. The water at the adult beach at CC felt a tiny bit cool when I first got in, but as soon as I started paddling around I never noticed the temp again. There were tons of people in the water!

We were probably lucky, but I would go in Jan. again in a heartbeat (we are going in Nov again!)

Hubby and I did 4 nights at WDW before our 7-day Magic cruise in January 01 and the days were nice and warm but we needed long pants and sweatshirts at night. The whole time on our cruise was warm though, the further south we went the warmer it got. Lots of sun, no rain, and very smooth sailing. We're going on the Magic again in January and hoping for good weather again. :D
