Cruising as a true adult for the 1st time since 2000. What kind of fun for adults?

My 2 oldest kids are 20 and 18 yo. My youngest is 16. This will be the 1st cruise where i won't have any kids in the kids club. Weird for me that the 2 older kids will be able to join me in the over 18 section of the ship.

Since all my cruise time was centered around kids and the kids activities all these year, I never paid attention to adult activities, other than Bingo and some games in the nightclubs.

Do they have adult pool games? Any fun activities on the adult pool deck?

Lots of tasting seminars (for a fee) offered at various times and in various different venues (depending on the ship) and they are always fun and (I think) informative. They usually have one of the live entertainers performing at Cove pool a couple of days, but usually there aren't other activities going on around the pool. There are several different trivia sessions, usually two or three a day on at sea days, that are just good fun and a good way to pass 30 minutes. Hmmm...I can't think of anything else that is just 18+ right now.

Some of the ship tours are 18+ like "Art of the show". There also is adult trivia, animation classes, and crafts. There really aren't activities in the adult pool area, other than sweet sweet serenity. The night clubs also have more adult themed variety acts if there are any onboard your cruise. Don't worry they aren't raunchy, just perhaps a bit risque.

For the 18-20 year olds have them check out the 18-20 society the first night of the cruise. This is when they make plans for meet ups and activities during the rest of the voyage.

Check some recent navigators for ideas on adult only activities. - www.dclblog.com

There are lots of activities for all that adults can do even without kids - I love characters breakfasts and meet and greets.

My kids are about the same ages and I was just thinking the same thing the other day - how weird it will be for my oldest daughter to be able to be in the adult area when we cruise in January!

IMO, the adult pool are and Satellite Falls are (blissfully!) boring in comparison to the family pool. No activities or trivia games or anything that I've ever seen. Sometimes I wish there was a bit more activity in that area, but then I walk over to refill my drink and remember that I'm glad for the peace. LOL.

There's plenty of other stuff to do though - as a PP said, think about trying one (or more) mixology classes or tastings, playing an adult game show in the night clubs, enjoying some live music, playing adults-only trivia games, taking the Art of the Ship tour....the list goes on. You'll probably be surprised when you look at your Navigator and realize for the first time how many adult activities you've been missing all these years. Enjoy your cruise!

The cooking classes are adult only. I agree with PP that hanging out at the adult pool and Satellite Falls is bliss!

Your adult kids can also now go to the fitness center and the spa.

I walked each and every floor and looked at the door decorations/took pictures. A little corny but it was an interesting way to get exercise and something different to do. I'm an early riser so every morning i watched the sunrise. Be sure to bring a book/deck of cards/something to entertain you solo. I failed to do so and it made my time very, very boring. Nothing available in the ports either.

I have been looking at past navigators, so I am getting an idea of what adult entertainment there is. I was hoping for games! In 2000 my Dh and I cruised just the 2 of us, left the kids home. There was a belly flop contest in the adult pool. I never laughed so hard in my life! I was hoping for more of that.

Are you sure that was on DCL that they did a belly flop contest? I have cruised DCL for 14 years and I don't remember them ever doing anything like that. They did on our Carnival cruise, and maybe on the Princess one?
They do hold adult games in the lounges at night. Things like scavenger hunts etc.

I also doubt that DCL had a belly flop contest. Now, whether some people at the pool took it upon themselves to do it - maybe. However all the pools say "no diving" and I think such activity would be stopped by a CM if started.

When you get on the ship your first day, look at the personal navigators that are given to you. Listed in the Adults section are tons of activities for your 18+ children to do. Ice breakers, meet and greets with other adults on the ship etc. ALSO look for the 1820 Society!!! It is specifically for your adults that aren't old enough to drink yet but are just over that kids club activities room.
