Cruisin' MAYniacs - May 14-17, 2009

I noticed your Kasey has braces. My Casey is in Retainers right now to move her teeth out before she gets braces. Should be about the begining of the school year when she gets them. I think she wants the multi-color ones too!

Casey is excited to meet Kasey.... Plus all the other kids... I think they are going to have a blast!

Kasey got her braces a few months ago. She has done really well with them. Her and her brother are both in them so that's lots of fun on the old checkbook :scared1: ...LOL!!!

So far every time they go in they have gotten to change the colors on their brackets. We have had green....for tinkerbell of course, and now blue and pink to go with her softball uniform. :)

Okay so I have a question for the experienced cruisers out there. I rode Mission Space for the first time on our last trip and got very sick which makes me think I might need to get a patch for the cruise.

I am not sure what to do with the kids. Do you worry about sea sickness with the kids? I have heard that if you are going to do the meds you should start taking them before you even get on the boat but I am not sure what to do. I don't want to give them something that they don't need.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

I'm not an experienced cruiser, but I have cruised once before. I was concerned about seasickness so I started taking Bonine the morning of the cruise, about 7 hours before we got on the ship. It was pretty rough the first night, with alot of people leaving dinner because they felt ill. I was glad I took the medicine because I felt a little queasy but never got truly sick. I went ahead and took it every day, more as a preventive measure than anything.

I guess I feel it's better to be safe than to be sick for half the cruise and sorry. I found some children's medicine and will probably start the kids on it before we get on the plane that morning. I read something that suggested having the kids try the medicine before the trip, to make sure they get along with it OK. What do you think about that?

The reveal last night was a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone who shared info and pictures with me to help me make the clues. The treasure hunt took about 10 minutes and the kids were so excited!

The memory card in my camera was full and stopped recording right as they found the last clue. So I made them stop while I got another card. They decided to employ their acting skills when the camera started again, to pretend they had just located the clue. As you can see, they should not count on acting as a future career! Here's the last couple minutes of video:

I had been thinking about this too, I know the ship carries these items for adults and kids. I was just going to risk it... Or maybe I'll change my mind and pick something up.. LOL

That was awesome! We suprised Casey last year with the trip to Disney. The kid was clueless!!! She thought we were flying to Texas for Chinese food and to buy earings! :rotfl2: Where she got that from I have no idea! We were on the Magical express watching a movie on WHAT TO DO IN DISNEY and she still did not get it! A lady in front of us made several calls that she was in DISNEY and still my child, clueless as can be. Until we passed under the sign that said welsome to Disney, her jaw dropped and she couldn't believe we were back!

here are my pictures

I have no pictures of DH at work! LOL

Very nice pics!! Where in the heck would you find 10lbs on that little body??

:)

Pictures are a great idea! Kat and Diana, your families are beautiful! I'll scrounge up some pics tonight at home.

Cheryl, I'm with you on the "dark fat", my usual glow-in-the-dark winter legs won't go well in the Caribbean!

We're going to do the treasure hunt to tell the kids about the cruise tonight. I can't wait!

Jenni

Thanks Jenni!

My husband and I went to Miami for a week so I hope some of my nice color stays from then!! I will also probably fake 'n bake a little before we go!

Kat

I found some pictures on facebook to share. Here are the kids on the first day of school this year:

Jenni,

TOO CUTE!! By the way, I LOVE the color of your living room walls ... I had that same color in my downstairs family room for the longest time!!

Kat

Jenni and Shannon,

I never worried about the kids ... and thankfully, never needed to. They did fine on the last two so I will probably employ the same tactic for this cruise.

Kat

So, I was checking out the FE gift idea threads and such and mentioned the thought of doing small bottles of alcohol (rum on pirate night, etc) and someone graciously reminded me that some people just don't drink (:scared1:) or better yet, someone on any cruise could very well be recovering, lets say ... and wouldn't appreciate the temptation.

I was shocked that I didn't think of that myself and would like to state that if anyone who is participating in our FE would rather NOT get alcohol for whatever reason that does not have to be stated, please PM me and let me know.

Thanks everyone!!

Kat

PS ... we love alcohol! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Alcohol is fine here! LOL

Watch me, I'll be Last minute on the gifts! Typical of me!

I wouldn't have thought of that either but it makes sense. I think someone (Cheryl maybe?) mentioned earlier in the thread that her husband had a transplant and so they don't drink. We, on the other hand, plan to enjoy our fair share of alcohol on the trip. Bring it on! :drinking1

Jenni

Okay so I'm not part of the FE group but will speak my 2 cents anywho. I think it may be a dangerous idea to leave alcohol unattended outside of a cabin. Even if its covered up, teens have a knack for finding this kind of stuff and no wants someone to get hurt. Plus an accident due to that would put an end to FE for good. Just a thought.
