Cruise upgrades for DVC Members???

I've been reading about stateroom upgrades on the disboards, and was wondering if this is only for cash paying customers. Are there any DVC members out there that have had stateroom upgrades?

We cruised on points and recieved an upgrade from a 6 to a 4.
It was just me and DH.
We loved the extra long room and the location was great.

Do you know why you got an upgrade, or is it just a mysterious thing that happens when you board the ship? Or were you notified in advance? I'd love it if we were upgraded, we're going on the 7 day western in January.

It just seems to be random, and can happen upon receiving all your paperwork, or at the time of boarding. I've read that many do get upgrades, but they are the ones that pay cash. Sounds like DCL prefers paying customers......

It's good to hear that a DVC member paying points can get an upgrade! Was the ship full? Were you upgraded at boarding or did you know in advance?

DCL is getting paid in cash by DVC. It makes no difference.

I was thinking "free upgrade for DVC members" when I saw the post heading. Ok - so I'm an optimist.

You're right! I didn't think of it that way. DCL is getting cash from DVC. Maybe there's hope for us yet.
