Went on the 7 day cruise with the special points in 2000. I see they are having the special again this year. We want to cruise again in 2002, should we book 11 months out using full points and hope for the special or wait until special is announced? Wondering because we will have to borrow points, so if we book using full points will we get the points back in the proper year or will we have to use the borrowed points that are returned in 2002? Does this make any sense?

Incentives, like the DVC specials, are based on a perceived need to offer a "deal" to get people to try something. If reservations are down for next year, expect another offering.

As for making reservations depending on these deals, there may be some risk in assuming they will materialize.

Good Luck!

By Fall 2002 the 7 day cruise will be alternating between 2 different itineraries, which should make filling the ships at regular price easier for Disney. For that reason, I'm thinking the *deals* may not be there. As it is, the 2001 *deal* isn't as good as the *deal* we got in 2000.

I could be wrong - but I'm leaning towards using cash for a non- Disney cruise in fall 2002....after having gone in 2000 and 2001.

I *think* when the 3rd ship ever starts, we may see some deals again then, when they're trying to fill 50% more ship than before!

I would not count on any cruise specials for points in 2002. In fact, the points have gone up for that year and also have gone up for the new itinerary to the Western Carribbean. Of course, the cash price has gone up also..
