Do we get a cabin with a balcony ? Is it worth the money?

Well it depends ... once you have had a balcony it is hard to go back to not having one.

I always ask:
~ Are you plan on spending time in your room more so than usual ... i.e have small child that may need extra naps, etc.
~ Where are your cruising? Bahamas for 3 nights or Alaska for 7 nts!
~ Are you looking to cruise on an older smaller ship, where there is not as much activity as some of the newer ships (meaning you may spend more time in your room then)?

If we are cruising more than 4 nights we try to get a balcony ... just a personal preference for us.

I can't imagine cruising w/o a verandah. Lynette is right -- once you have a balcony, you will never go back. It's hard to get my BF off of it on "at sea" days.

We love having cocktails w/cheese & crackers before dinner, and I love vegging and reading on the verandah. Morning coffee, and before bedtime snack.... It's awesome. To us, it's worth every penny -- no matter the ship or destination. I would never EVER cruise without one. It makes our trip!

I've found a lot depends on your lifestyle/expectations.

Cabins w/o verandas are great for "energetic, on the go, trying to experience everything!" types. The $$$ saved allows you to spend more freely in other areas.

However, verandas offer you an additional option: quiet, relaxing down-time, which has its own appeal.

I do recommend a veranda for Alaskan cruises. It was soooo pleasant to be able to easily pop inside & out. (My DH called me out of the SHOWER to see a pod of whales off our veranda - what an experience!).

Denise < --- wishes you a great time whichever you choose.

If a verandah is an option-take it. I've been on several cruises
and by far the verandah cabins provided me the best experience.
Dh loves to sleep in and I get up very early, this way I have a
spot to hang and read while he sleeps undisturbed. We have
breakfast on our verandah each morning in our pjs and drinks
before dinner too; no smoky bars to contend with. Cabin gets lots of fresh air with the door open and natural light too. Also,
makes the cabin seem much larger with the picture window/
sliding door. On one occasion was a great place to get away from
new "friends" who wanted to spend too much time with us.
Great to sail into port sitting on your verandah and a MUST
on an Alaskan cruise as there is so much to see all the time.
Have fun!

I think your other question got moved to the cruise board. Did you find it yesterday? I think you got a lot of replies there. (At least I think it was you! If not, there is a similar question over there with lots of information you might find helpful!:p )
