Good day to all,

This weekend I went on to book our excursions, Pablo, etc on the DCL site and I did the check in.

Being Platinum, I've done this a few times and as recently as earlier this year for our March cruise.

Something has changed and I wanted to know if anyone's else has seen this.

I no longer had a page to print out and sign for both me and Dh. We've always had this page

Also I printed out a port arrival page that has a bar code on it. I've never seen this.

Has anyone else checked in on line recently and noticed these changes?

Thanks folks

It changed several months ago.

When we signed in on the DCL website some months ago for our June Alaska cruise, it changed between our sign in (gold) and our daughter's (silver). Rather confusing, but when at the terminal all was accepted without a problem.

We're cruising in September and noticed the new procedure when checking in. I think it said something about being a return guest and our signature is on file. I also liked that I could opt out for the booklet and get luggage tags only. I've never used the book, so one less thing in my bag.

Yes, I was glad to see that change as well, the book was really bulky. We have had to show the book a few times to enter the port though, guess I will have the online check in page out this time.

This is our 13th cruise and we've never needed our book. Heck I don't even bring it. I find just remembering our cabin number is the most important thing! Have a great cruise!

Yes, the changes happened in April. The cruise contract must be signed now and it can either be printed out or emailed to you. This replaces the need for the long form that required signatures before. You print up the new Port Arrival form after you sign the cruise contract and that is all you really need to bring as your signature is already on file. :)
I never bring the book anymore as there was only ONE time I was ever asked for it by a security guard at PC at the first guard gate. Never before and never since.

Its so strange how sometimes they ask and sometimes not.
We sailed out of Miami in Feb. and we had added our grandkids after booking, so they sent another book to us. I brought both and handed security the one with just our names when they asked for it and they said the kids aren't listed they can't go in. Another hit or miss thing I guess.

As has been said, the changes happened after that.

I like getting the booklet - and have never found its small size "cumbersome" (definitely smaller than most tour books!) - and am glad that we have the option to still get them.

Wait we have to sign the cruise contract?
Sort of. If you're a returning cruiser, your signature is already on file and you have to check the box that you agree to the contract (that's the "signature") during the online check in process.

So I opted out on the book and just got mine today got my sept 9th cruise. You actually get a book, just like the regular book. Has the luggage tags and a page of travel doc info. Has the itinerary on the back cover. You don't get all if the duplicate pages of info you already know. I will continue to opt out again. I have a b2b in feb 2018. I'm addicted.

Hey we're on the same sailing! ^_^ I forgot we only asked for luggage tags since we received the (thinner) booklet also, love it!

So odd... I just booked our 3 night cruise on the Dream on Friday and did all the check in stuff but it did not ask me if I wanted the cruise book or not. But for our other September cruise, the option was there to decline the booklet and just get luggage tags. Which I did.

Also, some folks on the Dream cruise are not getting the HOTHS cover and others are. It is only the second cruise of the Dream season, so maybe that is why. Like they sent the first batch out earlier than the books were supplied with the Halloween cover or something. Who knows. :)
