FE UPDATE

I just wanted to remind everyone who is interested in participating in the FE to please PM me your information:

Name:
Stateroom # (if known):
How many Children: Ages:
Which dining rotation you are on:
Any health concerns (allergies to any type of food)
Celebrations:
*NEW* Email address (to email the final FE list to everyone) prior to sailing:

As of now we have 12 cabins participating in the FE.

DH wants to bring our own laptop on the ship with us. I'm wondering how the wireless internet is in the staterooms and other areas on the ship?
Anyone else have luck with Verizon cell phone service on the ship?
We're on Deck 6, aft.

It was pretty good on the Dream. We didnt have to try to move to try to find a wifi signal.

I dont think your Verizon service will work though. Once you leave port, the cellular at sea signal is all you are going to get. I thought it was only GSM though..... You have CDMA.

Welcome! Our daughter will be 12 on the cruise.

We have a 12 year old girl on this cruise.... We have had good luck letting the kids email each other before getting on the ship... and they even met at the port!

We have 3 kids, if anyone else has kids of the same age that want to get to know each other before the cruise, feel free to have them email. Its worked great on our past cruises.

We have:

Kimberly (16 when we cruise)
Daniel (14 when we cruise)
Melanie (12 when we cruise)

Here is the email address we use for our cruises (its monitored).

kids-disney-cruise@cox.net

Welcome to everyone!

We will be staying in Concierge room 12508... and I believe from our Disney Dream cruise (with the gates) the FE was still possible, all guests have to do is knock on the Concierge lounge door and someone in Concierge will deliver them to us... We still received many goodies in ours on the Dream!

Or I would be willing to be the drop off person/room and I will deliver them to the other concierge rooms :goodvibes

When we were on the Dream (a back to back) they opened the concierge gate and secured it to the wall so that it was never closed.....

He's a computer tech, not overly into disney, and is looking forward to the arcade (how much is it to play in the arcade?), but will there be enough other things to keep him occupied and happy? I know I'll love it...I love Disney. I love watching Disney movies (yes, multiple times). The little kid in me just can't wait...I'll be jumping up and down (literally!)! :yay:

Thanks for the update and instructions for FE signup Guess I will need to post a few more times before I can send a PM

My daughter will be 16 when we cruise as well... I gave her the email address, so hopefully she will email and introdruce herself :) Her name is Dani.

I've encouraged Serena to email Melanie. Serena will be 13 when we cruise.

I'm getting excited again! Starting to drive my husband crazy again...:goodvibes

Whew! It's been a busy week (both for me and there's been action on the tread too).

Laura and Ray
Favorite Disney Memory: How can I possibly pick just one? :confused3 We always love the Christmas season at WDW. :santa:
We used to go to the parks the first week of December. I LOVE WDW during the holiday's. Once the kids got in the higher grades we couldn't pull them out of school during that time, but its a close tie between December and during the Food & Wine festival.

Please let me know if you get my friend request... I sent it (hopefully to the right person, lol)

And I do travel to almost anywhere ;) We specialize in Romance travel and family travel! I love my job!
I got it!! Glad I could figure it all out (I actually surprised myself). Romance travel sounds VERY interesting. I had considered a career as a Travel agent, but life chose Meeting Planning instead. Lately, I've been thinking it might be time for a move. Maybe we can chat on the cruise and I can pick your brain and see if it might be time for a switch.

WOW I can only imagine how excited you must be for the cruise! I can't even imagine never having been to a Disney park before. You are going to LOVE it. I think there are enought things to do on the cruise that he won't be bored. What is he in to? Might he be interested in the wine, beer, tequilla tastings? Is he into sports? With the Irish Pub bar, there should be plenty of sports available for him. We just looked in the new PassPorter and it doesn't list the cost of the arcades (it just says that they aren't included). On the other ships the "Cove Cafe" offers board games (scrabble anyone?)

I had downloaded some Navigators from an Eastern cruise to see what activities they might have (but assume they will have lots more on a larger cruise). We are about to run out to dinner, but I'll see if I can upload them so I can post them here. If you print them out you can see what "might" be available and see if anything interests him.

I hope everyone has a great night - enjoy the weekend!

I didn't think of this before but maybe some who have been on the Dream might chime in...he might like the concept of the Ship Detective game. I had read it has some interactive art and stuff like that that the techie in him might just want to see and try to figure it out. Just an idea :)

He is into sports so he should like the Pub. We are not into drinking, which is why I convinced him of the Disney cruise...plus I get my first taste of Disney :cool1:...yes, I am excited and trying not to drive him and my daughter crazy with the "did you know"s from the PassPorter. I did find out that most games cost 50 cents to $1 in the Arrcade. I can hardly wait to have my picture taken all over the ship. I have preordered the latest cruise passporter, and am glad I could check it out online. Can't wait to get the paper copy and organize it how I want. :rotfl:

I am excited about the Ship Detective Game, the interactive "photos", and the chance to meet and have my picture taken with characters! And maybe portrait pictures, and the FE (I have so many ideas...I have to do one at a time or I'll have 20 started and none ready) And I recently read that sometimes cabins are upgraded...that would be fabulous. And on-demand movies...I'm not sure I'll want to get off at any ports but Castaway Cay!

Hubby just asked if I'm writing a book, so I'll sign off for now...but I will be back!

I preordered the guide too. Although I haven't had any time to read it much. I'm studying for a certification for work and so I'm committed to studying for a couple of hours each night. I'll be SO happy after I take the test (on July 23). I want to pass it of course, but more importantly I want to STOP studying and get on with my vacation planning!

Just think if you put a dollar in a jar every day until we cruise Steve could be playing at the arcade for a LONG time! By my count we have 280 days on Saturday :rotfl:

I've heard of people getting upgraded, but it hasn't happened to us (yet). I'm ever hopefull.

Here are a couple more items of things to add to your list:

  • Autographed pillowcase or picture frame for Serena
  • Personalized magnets to decorate your cabin door
  • RAINFOREST room

Just to name a few...

Pat - here is a picture of the FE bags that I made up for our cruise in 2009 I bought four small purses at the Dollar Store and used two of them to line the others with and added the strapping and decorations. We are big Adventurer's Club fans (old club at Pleasure Island - look on You Tube for some funny videos) so I themed our bags around that. Our son's girlfriend drew the Mickey and Minnie for me and I scanned the pictures and used the iron on transfer to put them on the bags. I know there is a tread that has instructions (or at least the measurements) to make your own bag, but I haven't had a chance to find it yet.

I tried to upload the Navigator files, but Photobucket won't take PDF files...dang!

I guess I shouldn't have had those two glasses of soda for dinner. I should be heading for bed but my brain is still ramped up. I don't want to study any more so I thougth I'd do some research on FE bags and Cabin door decorations. No need to leave all this till the last minute.

Here are a couple of links to threads on Fish Extenders and instructions on how to make them yourself

This thread shows pictures of homemade FE Gifts (to give you an idea of what some amazingly talented people can do).

Amazing stuff, but don't get discouraged, on our last cruise we got everything from small gifts, postcards from hometowns, recipe cards, CDs and more. We loved it all!

This thread shows pictures of cabin doors. The thread was started in 2009 so some of the pictures don’t show up. I only looked at the first two pages, but you can get an idea of the magnets and see some FE hangers.

Ok, I've got to try and get some sleep. Good night!

I always love talking about my job, so I would love to chat sometime I am one of the few blessed people to actually have a job that is a passion in my life as well. I dont really work, I do what I love doing and helping others realize the importance of a break from reality!

You are lucky. I'd love my job if I were actually doing the one that I was hired to do. With the economy, my company isn't doing the large events that we were before so I've been switched to other assigments and they just aren't my passion and I'm always worried that they'll decide that they don't need me and then I'll be forced to make a decision about my career.
