Cruise Meet -April 21, 2012 - 7 Night Eastern Caribbean

I've been "fantasizing" about our cruise as well. I've been listening to any and all podcasts that talk about the Dream and trying to read trip reports for Eastern Carribeans or the 7 day Dream cruises. I just pre-ordered the new PassPorter Cruise guide (won't be out till August) but with a pre-order you get to download the book online so I've started reading that as well.

I jumped right to the excursions and I think we're going to try the one where you go underwater in a "dive helmet" type of gear. DH has never been able to enjoy snorkeling because he can't wear his glasses and his mustache make getting a good seal with the mask a difficulty.

I'm also SO looking forward to the spa and I'll be getting passes to the rainforest room for the entire week.

I saw that someone else on another board posted this:
What made it really special was our DIS Meet group. Interestingly, if you look at our Meet page, you'll only see about 34 pages worth of 'chatter.' The reason for that --- and I think the reason for the ultimate success of the group --- is because we wound up taking most of the non-generic DIS chatter over to Facebook. Over on Facebook, about a year before the cruise, we created a secret group (totally private) that DISers who were going on this cruise could request to join. While on FB, ensconced in the comfort of privacy, we were chatting all day long the entire year with the benefit of real names, being able to friend one-another and being able to put profile pictures to names.

Now I am not Facebook savy enough to do this but this might be a fun way for all of us to keep in touch and get to know each other better prior to our sailing? Just a thought, it could be fun......

That sounds like a fantastic idea! I'd love to join that as well, but I too am fairly facebook illiterate (I can friend, post pics and post status, but that's pretty much my limit).

The last Disney cruise that I was on was really active the year leading up to the cruise, we made friends, requested each other as table mates. We had a blast!

So what does a compulsive planner do when she has a long weekend and is excited about her upcoming cruise? Reads the entire cruise thread again!

After reading Nikki's email I got started thinking and wondering about everyone that had logged onto this thread. I had asked Nikki a while ago to send me the FE list so I could try and "get to know" everyone before the trip and try and remember names. I loved how I got to know people on the cruise thread from the last cruise that I was on. I thought I might as well try and get the board jumping and try and get to know everyone better.

Nikki had listed everyone that had requested to be included on the FE list, but I added everyone that posted that they would be on our cruise. I also included ages of children if it was posted on the message and then added locations from signatures (its amazing how many cruisers from the East Coast there are!).

Most pressing question about the Fantasy cruise? Do we book a dinner at Palo or Reme? We've done the Palo brunch and that was great, do we splurge and do the Reme (or whatever it will be called) or just stick with Palo. I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to food so I'm a little nervous about what they might serve and ending the evening having to get room service after the meal.

We're joining our son, DIL and grandson on our First Disney Cruise
We are both retired Jim from teaching and Pat from Bookkeeping
We have been on 3 cruises since retirement but this is our first on Disney
We went to Disney with our oldest son in 1973! Then we went about 5 years ago with the entire family. What a difference.
We have been back a couple times, just the 2 of us.
Am looking forward to going with "young people" this time, on a cruise

I am confused about this FE group. Am signed up but don't know how to give more info to who ever leads this group. Am already making gifts, and would hate to think that we have been left behind!!! I also need some info on how many cruisers are signed up for this. ANY HELP would be great.

Since we are still a long way off from the cruise it's hard to say exactly how many people will actually sign up for the FE group. The list that Niki sent to me back in May had 12 cabins on the list.

Do any of you know anything about the age limits at the kids club? Specifically, DD 2, will be 2 months shy of 3 years old at the time of sailing. She is well on her way to being potty trained. Any chance you think they would let her go to Oceaneers and not Flounder's? She will really want to be with her big DS-6.

While on the Wonder last December, my Sister had her 2 kids and the youngest (5) did go and spend time with the her older sister (8), which was a different age group. So, I think within limits it's allowed.

Our DD will be 3 one month in May, so my intention was to have her go with the 3 year olds. You can join me and that way we won't be the only one with a 2 Year 11 Month old in the 3 Year group. LOL

WDW- First Trip with DW, weren't married yet. Broken camera and the camera shop people were great and replaced it for free!! It was our first day of a week long trip. We wouldn't have the pictures otherwise.
DL- First trip as a boy. Going to the Magic Shop on Main Street. Followed closely by the Divas Event in October 2000. Best adult experience at any Disney Park
DCL- Pirate Event Cruise. We surprised a lot of friends by just showing up at the initial group gathering. Only the TA knew and they did a great job keeping it a secret even from the group organizer. All that topped off with Fireworks at Sea!!!

Oh, you HAVE to video him finding out and let us know his reaction! I've never been able to keep a surprise like that.

We will be sure to have someone manning the video camera. I wish we had had the camera on him when we took him to see Cars 2 in 3D last week. It was SOOO cute!!! He held up his hand in front of his face and said, "Daddy, it is LIKE RIGHT HERE!!!!" DH and I just about died laughing at him. Quite the character he is.

It is REALLY hard keeping it a secret since we are also planning an early Dec cruise just me and DH. I don't think we are going to tell him we are going on a Disney cruise. Just a plain cruise possibly. Right now he thinks Mommy is just "researching" for when he is "a good enough little boy" and then Daddy and Mommy will take him to see Mickey. He hasn't figured out the hurry for swimming lessons either. He just thinks it is cause there is a lake at DG's cabin. We forgot to get snorkels but we will make a run to Walmart and start that already too.

But I am thinking I can get a few things from our cruise that can be part of his surprise at Christmas. Like the letter from Mickey...to have it actually signed by Mickey as part of our autograph package at Guest services. I picked up a cool magnetic frame at a local craft show last weekend that I think I will magnet the letter on and then he has a frame for his dresser for his favorite picture we when get back.

I am always open to other ideas too. If anyone wants to give any ideas or pointers!
