Cruise Entertainment - what is there?!

Hi all!

Long time no post in this area... haven't cruised since 2015!

I am booked on the Magic Northern Europe cruise on 28 August with a largish group. As the only one who has cruised before the planning seems to have fallen to me...!

My friends and I want to start planning outfits etc and so have been using the entertainment link from the DCL website. Unfortunately for most of the Magic ship entertainment it just says "available on selected cruises". How do we know what entertainment we will have? For example, when I cruised in 2015 we needed pirate outfits for the pirate night... will we have that again? Also, will there be a formal and semi-formal night, like on the two Caribbean cruises I have done with you? We haven't received any information at all since we booked and I can't see anything specific on the website!

Northern Europe cruises typically have a Frozen themed night instead of Pirate night. As there has not been a traditional Europe season since the Covid shut down, nobody really knows what the entertainment will be this summer. Entertainment has come back in modified forms on all other cruises, so it is up in the air. Welcome to 2022 summer planning--where nobody knows anything.

You're over-thinking it, IMO. A cruise is not like Walt Disney World. Pick your dates and book one excursion per port (or don't), and just let the rest happen.

Example... On the first night of my Magic cruise in December, the woman who played Mother Gothel in the Tangled stage show was mind-blowingly good. She stole every scene she was in. Two nights later while we were in the elevator, the cruise director made an announcement that she would be doing a set in Fathoms that night, previously unscheduled. On paper, it wasn't anything special. Just a normal 30-45 minute lounge set of Disney songs, but she was mesmerizing and it ended up being one of the highlights of our whole trip.

Night two frozen
Night 3 turning red movie
Night four frozw
Night five frozen
Night six magician
Night seven believe

but outside bingo and trivia not much to do
Lots of happy hours at 10pm

I would try looking at previous trip navigators. They’re obviously not going to be super up to date but it would give you an idea.

on Northern Europe cruises they do Frozen night rather than Pirate night.

Wow, no Aladdin show? I thought they were getting back to unique entertainment nightly with social distancing gone in the theater.

We did a 7nt Baltics cruise in 2018. No pirate night and no fireworks--not allowed for environmental reasons? In 2018 we had a frozen deck party and Anna's chocolate scavenger hunt. The 3 Broadway style shows. Yes there is a formal and semi formal night long the cruise. Usually day 2 is formal and either day 5/6 semi? They had unique character costumes (Mickey and gang) on the European cruises--awesome to get pics with them dressed in regional costumes! You really don't need costumes for this cruise, but formal/semi dress would be good.
