I read a few articles and it does look like she used Scientology as her reasoning for the divorce and she is getting custody but he will have a very lenient visitation schedule.

Wow, so in less than two weeks they've settled? I agree, I think Katie has some dirt on Tom that she's keeping private in order to get custody. Why else would Tom have fought and received custody of his adopted kids but not Suri? Strange but then he's one strange dude anyway.

The statement they both co-released this morn through their lawyers made mention of them each respecting their own personal beliefs. I thought that was interesting to be placed in that kind of a statement. So much of the tabloids are reporting two different sides to this: one camp says Katie was scared of Scientology, and the other says no way, since she converted and was very happy to pursue it, so she was making all of that up.

I am not surprised that they settled this quickly at all. Tom Cruise has a ton o cash, and since both of them have a team of lawyers who have been working around the clock, then they are definitely earing their money.

Regardless of whether their is a private secret to spill (that could go both ways), this is what is best for Suri who at the current time is being followed around while she goes to the park, ice cream, etc.

Perhaps they are both mature adults who don't want to fight about things...imagine that! Tiger

Possibly not. It could be what they told the press. I personally believe it isn't anyone's business but theirs, and put in their position I would tell the press an agreement has been reached.

Glad that they were able to wrap it up so quickly. Most Hollywood divorces, heck even non Hollywood ones, end up being drug out forever, fighting over everything, down to the garbage cans and the kids always get hurt. Glad that Suri won't have to deal with that.

It's strange that it was wrapped up so easily and quickly, but like a PP said, when you have gobs of money and attorneys that are working non stop at an agreement, then I guess it can help move things along.

True. We may not know the details of the deal. However, to reach and close one - within 2 weeks time - is pretty impressive by Hollywood standards.

Maybe they truly love and respect one another as parents of Suri, and wanted to get things settled as soon as possible.

I know so many on here think it's because Tom has things to hide, but I honestly think it shows that he does care about Katie if indeed this divorce has been settled so quickly.

Honestly, he's the richest actor out there, so does he really need to pay lawyers thousands of dollars per hour to fight over patio furniture and vehicles?

I think this shows that both of them had Suri as their main priority.

I think it is very difficult to make a marriage work if two people have very different core belief systems. Scientology and Catholic are probably about as different as you could get.

Combine that with the speculations floating about:
1. She knows something about him that could be ruinous
2. They had a 5 year deal
3. The kid's not his

..and I could see why they'd want it over quickly and quietly.

I was always kind of leery of him not being able to father children with his 2 other wives, but suddenly Katie was pregnant before their marriage. They lucked out insofar as Suri looks like her mother. But what if she had been born not looking like her mother and not looking like Tom Cruise????

There'd be some 'splainin' to do Lucy......

In any event, I hope they can co-parent well for the child's sake, and that she can grow up relatively normally...
