Cruise 10/11/2003

I've been zapped for the last time today. What a long 8 weeks. I've made it through snow, sleet, ice, rain and machine breakdowns, but finally it is over. Don't have a red nose, but do have one headlight brighter than the other.

Now can start to make plans for the 10/11/03 cruise. I did book a May cruise for the family on the Carnival Pride. My 18 & 19 year olds were bored on the last Wonder cruise in June, so after talking to the travel agent we decided to try the Pride. Plus it does some different port of call than the Magic. Also, the cost was alot cheaper than the Magic. So will give it a try. I think we will use our DVC points for the Oct cruise, so need to wait until I can borrow into the next year.

Eric---- I will try to send you the information and you can put us in as going but not booked yet. Hope you are staying dry.

Mary and Ave-- We will do the brunch and Capt Marvins.

So some of us in PA are happy EAGLES FANS :p and some are sad STEELERS FANS :( . Nancy are you out near Pittsburg area. My son goes to college out that way. As part of his college major he has to work at some of the Steelers games.

Kathy--- Hope you are feeling better. Better to stay home. I second Mary's treatment plenty of fluids, rest and tyleno. That will be another $100 for the second opinion. Everyone at work has had that bug and a GI one. So far I have been able to avoid it.

Cathy--- What exactly is the Zen Beach?

DS #2 went back to college today, so food bill will go down some. DS #1 doesn't leave till next Monday.

I am still in the decluttering mode so need to go back to throwing things away.

Nancy

Nancy SO glad you are finished with your treatments, now full speed ahead with life!;)
Just heard from two friends that got back from the Disney Marathon, both finished, one in just under 5 hours, the other in just under 6 hours.
Got to feed the crew. Later, Ave'

Mary,
if you wanna make real bucks, it is: "Take two Aspirin and call me again tomorrow" (This brings at least 300 bucks and another 300 tomorrow :jester: )

Nancy,
congratulations!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
I"ll do an update as soon as I get your info and switch you from "bcc" to "to" then ;)
We always stay dry, the part of the town we live in is about 2 miles from the river and a 100 feet higher. Today thawing started and in northern Germany the rivers are rising already.

Nancy ... We're all EAGLES in our house. AshLee however usually goes off to another room to seek out some quite cause it gets rather loud (hehehe). Glad you're all done with the zapping.

A Zen Beach is a little thing that you put on your desk or table that has a place for water on one end and a sand beach on the other. You can arrange and re-arrange all of the usual beach objects that come with the kit. Really quite cute. My SAILOR GOOFY that I got on the ship last year (plastic, about 3 inches or so high) fits just right on the lounge chair. Nice diversion in lousy cold, snowy weather.

Back to Work ....

OOPS --- Go TITANS (That's for you Mike)
--- Hope you made out well Dan at the marathon thingy!

Good morning all:wave: Nancy glad that you are through with the zapping and we are looking forward to see you on the cruise.

Mary good luck with the remodeling. Hope that Dan completed his walkathon. Rosemary congratulations on the furniture. Cathy good luck with the eagles game this weekend.

Colleen hope that you have plenty of energy you will need it trying to keep up with the little one and keep her out of things. Isn't it amazing that they have short little arms and can reach stuff that you and I need a ladder to get to.

Have to run as the ferret cage needs cleaning and there is trash to be taken out this morning.

Mary we will be scheduling with captain Marvin's a little bit later. Mike

Nancy -

I am actually living in Delaware county right outside of Philly for now. I am originally from Pittsburgh and went to Duquesne. No team will ever top my Steelers. They never have to win another game and they are still the greatest team in my book.

Sorry to say I won't be rooting for the Eagles. My NFC team is Tampa Bay after living in Orlando for over 12 years. Although it may be impossible for them to win in this frigid temp - I will still be cheering them on.

As for AFC, I guess I will be cheering for the Titans for the rest of the season.

Nancy

Nancy--- You are in my end of the state since you are near Philly. York is only 2 hours from Philly. Both my sons played ice hockey so I know all the ice rinks in that area. This is the first year, I haven't had to travel to Philly at least once a week for a hockey game. I'm not a big football fan, but my family is Steelers fans from many years ago with Franco Harris, Mean Joe Greene. I'm dating myself. DS#2 has turned into a Steelers fan this past year. As for me I will be watching movies or scrapebooking while the football games are going on.

Cathy--- The Zen Beach sounds really neat. With the cold and snowy winter we are having what a great way to make you think you are in the warm sun.

I decided to take today off and really worked on decluttering the house. Now I need to stop until garbage day since I have the tote dumpster full and 4 extra bags and 2 boxes of junk plus I have no more big garbage bags. I actually have an extra drawer since I have thrown out so much stuff. What I need is one of those big dumpsters and about a week off to get rid of all the excess clutter and things we just don't use any more. I'm a women on a mission. Norm said he is afraid to sit to long in one place as I might pick him up and stuff him into a garbage bag.

Rosemary--- How is the new dining room furniture? When can we all come over for dinner?

Is Dan still out there trying to finish the marathon since we haven't heard from him?

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Nancy

Hello everyone,

Wish you were at my house to help me de-clutter. Every I get ready to do that I just put it back cause I might need it tomorrow. :o I know the rule is "If you haven't used it in 6 (?) months throw it away!" I have the kids toys somewhere in the attic where we de-cluttered when we were trying (One time a loooong time ago) to sell our home and the lady said to get rid of the clutter. Now Mike has all kinds of computer boxes up there too "just in case we need to send a puter back to get it fixed". I need professional help. :p

Some of the women from work called me today to check on me cause I have missed 4 days of work. Just to make sure I wasn't dead. :( I think someone wants my locker. ;) I hope I get better soon. One of the meds the doctor gave me yesterday made me have nightmares all night last night. I ain't taking it again. I would rather have the sniffles except is isn't the sniffles anymore I need a professional strength nose sucker-outer.

Hope Dan finished and will post soon. I hope he isn't still huffing and puffing in the marathon. :p That's OK Dan, at least you did it. I sit on my fanny and...sit.

Way to go Nancy! Bunny is starting her radiation last week. She came to work all marked up and they told her that the next time they would tattoo the spots so she wouldn't have all the purple marks all over the place. She is hoping for a Harley Rider on her chest. Go for the gusto!

Mike is calling me. He is so lucky that I can't talk. I am going to have to start writing down what I want to say. Hand signals can be mis-interpreted in so many ways!

Take care, Kathy

Oh Boy,
what a crazy weather: We reached nearly 50ºF today and there's not a trace of snow left  2 days ago we had 4 - 5 inches of powdery precipitation and temps of 20ºF.

We are supposed to get some light accumulation of snow here tonight. Know what you mean about the temps Eric. 65 one day and 20 the next. No wonder everyone is sick.

Cathy if Art doesn't want to swim with the stingrays, he and I can do something else. Mike

I wish it was 50F here. We are in a cold snap and it's freezing with lots of wind which makes it a lot worse. It's -5C but with the wind it can reach -20C according to the radio. Really looking forward to the cruise at the moment because I'm hoping for warm weather.

It's not fun to de-clutter. Spent part of the holidays doing that and still haven't finished. It's a never ending job. I suppose it would be easier if I stopped cluttering but that's the fun part.

Fiona

Hi Folks,

The List, Issue 14, is in your mailboxes. I gotta get some Zs now, it's 1020pm and I've got to get up at 0530am :(

CU

OH! That last newsletter made things clearer for me! (I get so confused) Great news! Welcome officially onboard, PaDisneyFan!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

It's late and I gotta hit the sack. Seems like I never have time to reply here anymore as much (and as long as I would like). Hopefully will catch up over the weekend....

Kathy--- Hope you are feeling better. That is so funny about the lockers. There was just an email sent out by one of the Surgical Service nurse managers asking if anyone had any available lockers on their units. Now here unit is on the 7th floor Main Buildding, so wouldn't you like to be the lucky person who ends up with a locker in another building or another floor. That would fit in nicely with the new employee parking policy that went in on Jan 1. The only people who can park onsite are 25 year or longer employees, everyone else must shuttle in from a parking lot 2 miles away. Maybe they can move the employee lockers out with the parking.

Tell Bunny that I will be out to pick her up on my Harley with my tattoos and black leather jacket. I will have to send her an email to get her home address so I can send her some of the cream I used when I got the radiation burns. It is something I use at work all the time and it works better than anything that they recommended. I was always passing out samples while waiting for my treatment.

For anyone who is interested in the Art of Decluttering, there is a great website that helps you to get organzied to declutter.
The website is www.flylady.net
It makes it easier and less overwhelming. It is amazing how much you can throw out in just 15 minutes from one drawer. Garbage day is today so hopefully they will take everything I put out, and I can start again.

I'm writing this from work, so I better go do some.

Nancy

WE have SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!! There is almost 5 inches on the ground or 12.5 centimeters for our metric friends. Temperature is 30 degrees F or -1 degree C for our metric friends. Nothing as funny as watching people trying to drive. I shot a few pictures to remember this snowfall.

Kathy is doing better, but is just now getting her voice back. Have to run and rescue Kathy as Katie has not had a nap today and she is getting cranky. Mike

Nancy - I was checking out that decluttering website. I just got sucked in for about 1/2 an hour. Boy, I really need to start using those techniques to get rid of the junk in our house. It's amazing how much STUFF is in this house. Thanks for the website info.

Talking about decluttering, in Germany we have a saying: "Sometimes it's less work to move to a new house than to declutter the old one" :p

Keep your fingers crossed for me, so far I'm ahead of my training schedule for the halfmarathon. I should have run the 5km (3.1mls) in 25:40min and did it in 23:05, my time for 10km (6.3mls) should be 51:50 and I already did it in 49:30, my time for 15km (9.4mls) should be around 84 min and I will try to do it tomorrow in 75 minutes. Next week I will go up to 20km (12.5mls) and the week after next I have to do 25km (15.5mls) to run more than the halfmarathon. From then on it's only short, but quick runs.
My resting pulse is already down to about 50 beats per minute. Now it's time get rid of some more weight, I intend to sweat off another 15 pounds to come down to 180 pounds, which would then be about 40 less than last January. I'll send some pics to the veterans before tho cruise to facilitate recognition ;)
My trainer says, that every kilo (2 pounds) I lose before the race will make me a minute quicker over the distance and that should be worth it.
Today I did two 5km-runs with a 5-minute-walking break in between and then I did an hour of The Pump, a weight-training class - And now I'm dead tired :o

PS: Perhaps some of us can run together on the ship, 105.5 laps on the ship's running track equal a Marathon :jester: The winner gets a Conk Cooler ;) or an oxygen-tent in an ICU-stateroom :jester:

Dave & Ellen ... Art & I are jealous, you get to sail away Saturday. ENJOY, ENJOY!

Spoke with Kathy (Mrs. Papa) today ... she sounds like a mouse with it's tail in a trap. (Sorry Kathy - but it was funny) Glad you are feeling a little better even though you sure didn't sound like it.

Mike ... Art wants to know if you want to borrow his snow blower! If we only got 5 inches of snow we'd call ourselves lucky! Sad is that ours dosen't go away in a few days but sticks around and it just adds up and up and up.

Eric ... I'm NOT in for the 100+ laps on the ship BUT I do try and fast walk a few times around deck 4 before dinner.

Hope everybody is staying warm this weekend ... it's reallllly cold her right now. AshLee dosen't seem to take very long on her potty runs these days .... "let me in, I'm all done and get that blanket ready".

Well gotta run ... fav TV shows are on on Thursdays ... CSI etc.

Cathy with @ C

Eric, I would love to join you on your run aroung the deck. I'll rent a golf cart and follow behind with the beer cooler. :jester:
I do plan on a few laps in the early morning, but walking, not running. Later, Ave'

We wound up with an official reading of 7 inches of snow. There are 69,000 public school kids here in Nashville and they run 500 school buses every day. The finally delivered the last students to their homes about 8 pm tonight. No one was injured and there have been no deaths due to the weather so far.

Hey Eric while Ave uses her golf cart, Art, Cathy with @C, me and Kathy with @K will follow you on some segways.:bounce: Mike
