Hi Folks,

we wish Y'all a wonderful, happy Thanksgiving. In Germany this day isn't celebrated anymore, except perhaps for some small rural areas. German kids think that corn grows in shelves at your local Walmart and meat comes out of the freezer :p

We now have a tentative plan for next year's vacation:
-09/20 Crossing the Great Pond
-then 4 days in Kissimmee or perhaps in one of the Universal
Resorts to do USF, IoA and Sea World - And of course some
shopping.
-then 5 days in Hollowood or Fort Lauderdale to explore the greater
Miami area and bath in the Atlantic
-Then a week at Cocoa Beach to work on our tan, do KSC and to
see Endeavour lift off 10/02/02
-Then we will turn in our rental car and move into the All Star Movies for 5 days before the cruise and celebrate my 40th BD in one of WDW wonderful restaurants. If the Euro gets stronger until then it may also be the Animal Kindom Lodge, but taht will be a surprise for Anja then ;) A Savannah View Room for 5 days would be about as much as our Cat 7-Stateroom and as we mostly spend our time in the parks I don't know if it's worth the extra-bucks.
-And finally we will meet you to top of a wonderful vacation.
And on 10/18 we will return to Good Ole Europe to start planning Cruistoberfest III in 2005 :jester:

Cruisetoberfest III in 2005? Are we skipping a year?

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone.

I'll be having about 10 people over for dinner tomorrow, but luckily I'm not cooking. I've done it for several years in a row now, but my brother is taking on the turkey duties this year. And, everyone else is picking up all of the sides. My only responsibility is to clean the house (which is no easy task with a 1 yr old) and beverages, rolls, butter and ice cream for the apple cobbler my mom is making.

Then, I have 2 days to do some crazy holiday shopping, before we pack up and head to WDW from the 1st through the 6th. There will be 14 of us staying in 2 separate 2br villas at the Wilderness Lodge.

Combining Thanksgiving with my upcoming vacation, I get to have a whopping 11 days off from work.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Take care and have a great Thanksgiving!!!

I gotta work tonight.:( But Mike has it under control, for the most part. :p He just asked me if I thought I would feel like baking chocolate pies tomorrow when I get home. If tonight is like last night ... OOh my aching back! Another nurse was in charge but was on another delivery when we got an emergency call back to L&D for a very sick, sick baby and I got to go. Whew! It was touch and go for a little while but when I left this morning he was getting fretful and moving all his parts and just on nasal cannula for his oxygen. It is amazing how these little fellows rebound. This is why I love my job. I usually don't have to go on deliveries when I am not in charge but sometimes I do have to.

Colleen, that is wonderful about your daughter. I have been in the NICU since 1984 since graduating from Nursing School. That is the only nursing I have ever done and I love it.

Cathy glad the paw is better. Keep up the good work. Mike needs you. ;)

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. All my kids will be here tomorrow and possibly (sp?) my DIL's mama. She is by herself this year due to her hubby's job. We are planning on having a great Thanksgiving.

Katie has developed bronchitis and needed a breathing treatment yesterday. She is reported to be better today.

Take care, Kathy

No Shari,
but our long term vacation planning is odd years=USA, even years=Mediterranean/Africa. We've been following this rule since 1994.

Mike,
Gramps says thanks and hello. Yes, he's very well again: He's taking a stroll around the block nearly every day. Anja and me bought tickets for Holyday-On-Ice for his xmas-present, best seats, center-block fourth row and will go there with him. Yesterday I showed him once more what the web is good for: I bought batteries for his hearing aid via the internet at a 70% cheaper price and today they were delivered to him.

Dear friends,
enjoy the rest of your holiday, it must be afternoon in the States right now, but perhaps some of you took off tomorrow as well to have a nice long weekend.
See you on the boards

I feel SO BAD for the 11/30 Cruisers! I just don't know what I would do it our trip was Cancelled. Of course our 9/28 trip was changed, and we didn't get to any of our ports, but at least we got to go!
Cathy with a C, what are you up to?? I'm dying of curiosity.;)

Why was the crusie cancelled? Was it for disinfection of the ship?

This week we had a report about the hygiene aboard American cruiseships in a TV-magazine. I haven't seen it, but a colleague of mine has, and he said that the report stated that the hygiene was far below standard :( and these epidemies which took place recently were no accidents, but simply caused by negligence.
But after two cruises with DCL I must state, that the food I was served, was always meticulously prepared and the ship appeared to be very well maintained.

Norwalk virus is passed by person to person contact. Washing of your hands with soap and water after using the restroom and keeping hands away from your mouth decreases the spreading.

The magic scored a 99 out of a 100 in a recent health inspection. All it takes is one sick person not praticing good hygine to start the spread of this virus.

The opry mills shopping mall had 81,000 customers today. On a normal weekend they usually have 50-51,000. You couldn't stir with a stick they were so thick.

Hope that everyone has a nice weekend and we will be checking back in later. Mike

We've had a nice, relaxing two days so far here. Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend. We go back to work on Monday, but Josh doesn't go back to school till Tuesday... some kind of teachers' work day.

We've been thinking of the cruisers that had to deal with the cancellation this weekend. How sad, but possibly the best way to break the cycle of the virus onboard ship.

We've been playing Scrabble, doing a little shopping, etc. I think we're done with all the Christmas shopping, although still deciding if we want Six Flags season passes this year again or not. Josh wanted to play Scrabble, but then gets bored about half-way through. Maybe we'll try using only the tiles and play Take Two next time... it's a faster, rowdier game than the traditional Scrabble. Any of you play this one?

Tomorrow we take the cat to the vet for her yearly shots, then have a friend coming to help get the old washer and dryer out of the basement. In the evening we're attending the community Christmas carolling and tree lighting downtown, then Josh will sing with his Telegram Team from school for a police officer's retirement dinner.

I finally took time to make an appt. and got my hair cut this afternoon. I'll give the guys their haircuts tomorrow sometime. Started doing that a few years ago after watching them get haircuts and thinking I could do that... and found out I can! :D

We're really starting to get excited for our WDW trip now. Got our park hoppers delivered today, Disney Quest tickets delivered last week, and we leave one month from today! Yippee!!

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Colleen

I justed checked our account at Dreams Unlimited, because I'm doing our budget for next year's vacation, which is far easier (This goes just for the calculation, not for earning the bucks ;) )than it used to be due to the Dollar and the Euro standing at par.
And this is the remark I found below our balance:
There are 27 Dreams Unlimited Travel families, total, booked* onto this same cruise. You will receive a surprise gift in your room for booking through Dreams Unlimited Travel!!

Ain't that great? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hope you all had a relaxing thanksgiving. I have been lurking lots but too busy to write! YOu all sound busy also. We have our trip paid off, all except $300. I was wondering if I can transfer our reservation to DU also? Eric, we have changed our cabin and are now in 7125. Is that close to anyone? Decided we could do without the verandah since we would 't have the "kiddywinks".
House has been on the market now for six months and only a few showings. We have made a drastic reduction in the price. Came down $150,000. SOMEONE is going to get a really great deal. :p NOw if they would just show up at our door!

Kathy, William says hello.
We are putting the Christmas lights up today. Will resist the urge to get the tree until next weekend.

Are enjoying the new puppy immensely, as are the "goldens". They think of him as a large chew toy:bounce: :bounce: Thankfully, they don't actually eat him! He thinks of their ears and tail as pull toys. They are very tolerant of him.

We are planning on Captain Marvins. MIssed it last time.
Also, planning on staying at the Radisson the night before. Got the rental car reserved. Is that compulsive planning?

Cathy with a "C" hope the paw is much better. That way you can wrap all your Christmas presents!
Our shopping is mostly done, just the stocking stuffers to get. Wish we would get some snow soon. The kids are anxious to get snowboarding.:earseek:
Nancy, been thinking about you. Am doing pretty good.
Happy Shopping all. Elaine

Hey Elaine, tell william that his pins are on the way.

I feel so bad for the people that were supposed to sail today on the magic.

I know that Kathy is wanting to do Capt Marvins and I may be talked into it too. There is really a lot to do on grand cayman, although it is a lot more expensive to shop there than on St Thomas or St Marteen.

Hope that all of you that have snow on the ground are enjoying it as we have none here in Nashville yet. We average around 8 inches or 20.32CM for our metric friends a year.

Still looking for sitings of the cat juggler there in Key West. Wish that Shirley would check in and give us a blow by blow account:teeth:

Nancy hope that you are doing well and are not being too illuminating ;-) Mike

Hi Gang! We are back from Washington DC, and had a great time. We went to the National Zoo and saw the Giant Pandas (did you know we "rent" them for 1 million a year each:eek: I mean they are pretty neat to see, but you'd think we could have made a better deal then THAT!)
We had considered staying another day but my sister left for Brazil today. She works for the US Trade Representative (she is the Director for Brazil and the Southern Cone)and her DH was leaving today for Germany(He works for the Defense Intelligence Agency)They both travel ALOT!(sorry..had to brag a bit ;) )
VERY LONG trip home, 10 hours in the car!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I will do my "catch up " reading tomorrow.

Our gift was a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne, and a tray of pettie-fours (sp), which were very good. Never did drink to champagne. Maybe the gift gets better as the DU count gets higher.:p How many of our group has booked through DU? I'm still trying to figure out a way to get someone to sponser a Cruisetoberfest II party.

Welcome home Rellingtwin! Wonder if that zoo would think about renting DS for a month or so. :jester:
