Love all the chatter guys! Keep it going. Not much to add, unfortunately, from myself. Just a big HELLO to all!

Dan&Scott - Were you guys able to open CruzList #2? Inquiring minds need to know.

So, is there a limit to how many pages this post can become? Right now we are on page 19 and we still have over a year to go! Does the thread start getting cut off from the oldest posting at some point? Or will it grow like a beanstalk?
Hi dvcChris - No. There is no limit or cutoffs as long as there are no problems with The DIS website.

Our 9/22/01 thread from last year did get *lost*, losing 200 posts, when The DIS went to a new format and did some other technical stuff (none of which I understand except it made things run better).

Our old thread began again on 4/28/01 - five months prior to cruise. Do not know the start date of the original *lost* postings.

Final Counts for that thread:!
  • 223 pages
  • 3,335 postings
We will surely beat those counts easily! BUT REMEMBER - CONTENT is of UTMOST importance!!

Well, any of you who aren't cruising on the Magic during Halloween could book the Halloween Wonder if there is still space! :p After all, FOUR of us from Cruisetoberfest II are on it - - jmalk & her two kids, plus me, bringing my 35 year old nephew who, at this point, has not signed on for Cruisetoberfest II but might after he gets a taste of DCL! :bounce: And WE have a <B><a href="http://www.primateprojections.com/travel/DISlist.html">Cruise List</A></B>, too!

Ah, well, it was just a thought . . . and yet another post for this thread. :Pinkbounc

Would love to do a Halloween cruise but not this year unfortunately. But we are going to be in WDW Sept 22-28/02 so I guess I can't complain too much. Haven't told the person who'll cover for me that we are going for 2 weeks in October 2003 b/c he keeps telling me that the fall is so busy, busy, busy and not to take the time off. He's covering this September and I figure I'll wait til next spring to let him know about the 2 weeks. Not worried though b/c he teaches part time and I know he'll be around!

Wishing the days would go faster esp. since it's raining here today.

cdnmickeylover,

you're not alone: It's also raining here :( , but in 2 weeks we'll be in the Canary Islands, where the have a sunshinie-guarantee :bounce:

Shari,

I checked my work log and guess what: About 6 months ago I revised the Nairobi charts!! I thought it was used as an alternate only, but today I discovered, that it is a regular destination for Lufthansa and they fly non-stop from Frankfurt. So let us know when you fly to the heart of Africa again - I recommend December: It's warm in Africa and we have a wonderful Christmas-Market in Frankfurt.
BTW, did you know that Frankfurt is also called Bankfurt, because we have more than 160 different banks here, plus the Federal Reserve Bank and the European Union's Central Bank. It's also often called Mainhattan, because we are the only German city with a skyline and the river flowing though Frankfurt is the River Main.

I didn't know that you worked Eric;) ;) ;) Mike

You know I've been trying for the past couple of days to remember if I've been to Frankfurt or not and I really can't remember. I did my last year of high school in Switzerland (1984)and after school was over my brother came over and we travelled Europe for 8 weeks -- France, Germany, Litchenstein, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Switzerland and Denmark at least. We were in Germany but I'm drawing a blank as to where. I haven't been back to Europe since then unfortunately but hope to in the next couple of years. We had rail passes and it was great although obviously I don't remember all the details. The one thing I do remember though is that Germany was the cheapest place to send a parcel home from!

Still raining here although it's quite warm (humid)

THANK YOU, Viking! My next Nairobi trip isn't until next August, but I will plan on taking Lufthansa :) . Prior to that I have South Africa and Egypt. Are those on their route at all? My Kenya trips are usually July to Sept., or early February, never December. But I might travel to Germany for other reasons. DH (the Porsche nut!) has expressed an interest in going back there.

South Africa is a definite YES!! I'll check Egypt, I assume that they fly at least to Cairo, but probably the touristic spots like Luxor, Hurghada, etc. are covered by Condor, which is Lufthansa's Charter airline. Additionally Lufthansa does a lot of code-sharing with the other Star-Alliance members.
If your Porsche-loving DH wants to go to Stuttgart you have to travel via Frankfurt anyway. While he is adoring his six-cylinder-beauties you should use the time to see "Wilhelma", IMHO the most beautiful Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Germany located in Stuttgart as well.
As Anja and me are zoo-lovers we visit two or three German and European zoos a year, but the Wilhelma is our favourite.

Sounds great, Eric! Cairo <I>is</I> where I fly into in Egypt.

I always visit zoos wherever I go. Since DH is into wildlife conservation, he'll usually tag along. Now if I could <I>only</I> talk him into a Disney cruise. He is just NOT into Disney.

Guess what?

I just got the news tonight. DH and I got upgraded on 9/14 and 9/21 cruises this year from Cat 7 to Cat4. Can't wait. We've never been upgraded before. Maybe they finally realized that we're heading into double-digits cruising.

Congrats, Windermere! That's awesome news!

It's baffling to me how DCL selects people for upgrades though. You'd think double-digit cruisers would always have the advantage, but what about that Sept. 1 first-timer who posted that they were upgraded from a Cat. 6 to a Cat. 3 and have no idea why? For some reason, it seems several DISers on Sept. cruises are being upgraded. Glad to hear you are one of them!

You're really lucky, Nancy,
I hope you enjoy it!!!

Shari,
just tell your hubby that the ship has a flat-six gas-turbine and was build in Zuffenhausen :p
And if he really is into wildlife conservation, just tell him that there are enough bars and clubs aboard to conserve a wild life :jester:

taswira - DH noticed that in another post you had a link to your Halloween cruise and at the bottom was information that you are going to MNSSHP on Oct 27th. We've been contemplating going, and if you're still going on the 27th, then maybe we'll see you there. We would love to meet someone ahead of time from Cruisetoberfest II. We are also APs, so we can also go to the special events ahead of time.

Are you going to be dressing up? We are trying to think of some good costumes. We have a DD who will have just turned 1 on 10/5, so my first thought was Fred, Wilma and Pebbles Flintstone. Then, my next thought was Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and Wendy. I'm just not sure yet.

<B>alikat99</B> - Yes, I'll be at MNSSHP on the 27th and will be at the AP pre-party. My nephew (35) will be there with me provided he can get the time off (airline pilot - and he's going on the Halloween Wonder with me). We'll both be in costume. I'm not sure what I'll be yet. I'll let you know as soon as I decide - unless it's an hour before I head to the park! :earsgirl:

<B>alikat99</B> - I looked again at the family photo on your home page. I think you'd be PERFECT as the Flintstones! :bounce:

Hi Shari,
which carrier does your nephew fly for?

<B>Viking</B> - He is with Delta Connection/Comair. Just made captain. I don't know if he will eventually transfer to "regular" Delta or not. He likes what he's doing. His mom (my sis of course) is an FA with ATA. She used to be a flight engineer with Continental until she had high blood pressure problems. Since she is divorced and no "significant other," she made me her "significant other" for pass purposes. I travel free on ATA and at yield fare on Delta. :teeth:

So he flies with the charts my colleagues make. I do the charts for Lufthansa, Alitalia and their branches.
