Cruise 10/11/2003 Part 2

Hi Everyone!

Eric I can't believe how hot it's been in Germany this summer. Here it's been a cooler summer than last year and it seems more rain. Today looks overcast and there's a chance of rain although it will be quite muggy out. The difference is that we all have a/c, at home, at work and in the car.

Hope everyone has a good day -- have to be at work early today for a client (8:30am) which is even before the office opens. Wouldn't be so bad if I could leave early but that won't happen either so it's going to be a long day.

Andy and I will be going to MNSSHP on Friday night also. Havent yet ordered our tickets. After the cruise we'll probably be heading down to see my in-laws. Does anyone else want to go there? Didnt think so..

Eric, how did the "going online" at work go?

Has anyone else been following the thread about Nathan Page and his family? What a story!

Eric, It's ALWAYS HOT in South Carolina! Charleston has a breeze so it isn't as bad as some areas, but it is still pretty bad. I'm ready for Fall and cool breezes!

Don, Iv'e seen the Mickey you are talking about! Are you going to show everyone your tatoo?

My kids are so excited about starting school Monday. DD will start Middle School, and DS will start at a newly built Elementry school. We went to an open house this week and it is really beautiful!

Time to go to work!

Ellen and I will be at the MNSSHP on Friday the 10th also. We would love to have a mini-meet there at the Halloween Party, but we are arriving on a later flight. So depending upon its actual arrival time we might not get there right at the start of the Party. I am probably taking a big gamble on the airlines, but we really want to go to MNSSHP. We have never gone to any of those park parties or e-tickets before.

Maybe if we set up someplace to meet at say 8 PM we'll have a good chance to being there. Or if you are okay with it and have cell phones we could exchange cell phone numbers.

We are also still hoping Eric and Anja will join us at the party.

We'll be there hopefully between 4pm and 5pm since we have a PS at LTT. I have a lot planned. I have to get a Pal Mickey, Mickey or Minnie ears for Haley and something else that I can't remember. So anyway, meeting somewhere around 8pm sounds good to me. I'll PM you our cell numbers.

Now, Kim & I have been really 'down' because we've had constat rain & can't do ANY work on the house.....SO ! Needed something to cheer us up....

A family in town have some flamingoes on their lawn.....WE have large pink plastic eggs (think Easter),so of course,we had to "lay" one in their yard....(In the middle of the night)..

This is the part where we need you all...Going to take the smallest flamingo on 'vacation'...We will leave a note for "mom".
So while on DCL we will need to take lots of pictures,maybe send post cards from ports..etc...

Anybody want to join in the fun?

Speaking of school, mine is still too young for school at 22 months, but we've been thinking about putting her into preschool. Well, I didn't realize the disadvantage I was putting Emily in by having her in the fall. The school cutoff in FL is September 1st, so since she doesn't turn 2 until October 5th, none of the preschools will take her. The problem is that I work at home, and my company has been letting me stay at home with her, and work (which does prove to be challenging sometimes). But, we're thinking about having another one soon, and we thought that it would be good to put Emily in preschool in the mornings to get her used to it. But, I haven't found any luck yet. And, she really wants to learn too. Chris was at Michael's Crafts the other day and bought her little flash cards that are First Words. Well, Emily gets mad, like temper tantrum mad, when Chris puts them away. She has so much fun learning new words, heck she even says triangle and octopus. I did find one preschool that will take her anytime after she turns 2, but of course, it's the MOST EXPENSIVE one. Oh well!!!

Alright, now we have 5 families for MNSSHP on the Friday night before the cruise. Anyone else??? We're going to try to have a mini-meet at around 8pm or so. It's definitely a blast. Now, we have to work on some cool costumes.

alikatt99.......guess what? I am a two year old pre-school teacher!!! The child is SUPPOSE to turn 2 by Sept. 1 here also, BUT our director makes exceptions!! I will have a set of twins that won't be two until October. It will be a challenging year!
If I could take her I would. Our program is three days a week from 9 - 2!! You wouldn't believe how inexpensive it is!!

Good luck finding a place. I truly believe that preschool is a true benefit for children!!

Hope, thanks for the encouragement. I'm going to keep trying. I really believe that she's ready for preschool. She is so talkative, and I have friends with kids her age who aren't even talking yet.

Bette ... You would be so much fun to have as a neighbor. I think I saw something on TV once about a lawn ornament touring the country and sending it's "parents" pictures back of where it was.

What's up with the weather lately ... either it's dripping hot and humit or it's just palin drippy with rain. Maybe that's a sign that we will have spectacular weather when we cruise.

Dropped my dd, 7, off at a new school this morning. She cried and didn't want to leave her big sister. She was so upset! Makes for an unhappy day for mom!! I will be waiting for the end of the day to see how she is!!

I used to work with a guy in Chicago that used to have this little stuff moose that was given to him by a friend. He used to call it Moose in a Can, because that's how the gift was given to him, packaged in a can. Anyway, all of us used to kidnap it when we were going on vacation, and we'd get pictures with it whereever we went. Then, when we got back, he got his Moose back with pictures where it had been. That Moose had gone from one end of the country to the other. I believe that we even took him to Tijuana, Mexico for the day when we went to San Diego.

With the weather we are having lately (monsoon like) I just may start putting some stuff in suitcases for the cruise. I haven't been able to wear a lot of my summer stuiff...........and it's AUGUST already! (OK I feel better now. ).

On the Western there is a tropical night, isn't there? Senior moment.

bettemom....are you taking the baby flamingo to Portsmouth and do you need a car seat!!! This way he could meet his cruising cousins from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

Did everyone read the thread on Nathan Page?? What an adorable child...makes you count your blessings when you have a healthy child. Verrandah man said if any one wants to contribute to an onboard account, it is posted on his thread. I had tears in my eyes. Mary Jo

Add another family to the ever-growing MNSSHP 10/10 group. What a way to start a great vacation. Any ideas on a meeting place? What about the stage area that is near Space Mountain? That had it all set up last year with a DJ, etc. Or, we can meet behind Cinderella's castle, where they have the coach set up for pictures?

Bette -- Game for anything in regards to baby flamingo.

Hope -- It's so hard to leave them at school when they are little and upset. Hopefully her teacher will be amazing and understand.

Chris had an awesome kindergarten teacher who made the transition to school so great and easy. The first week of school she had bedtime story. Everyone went back to school at about 7pm in their jammies and she (in her jammies) read them a story.

We actually moved away so that I could go to school after kindergarten and then moved back here for June of Chris' grade 3 year. I took him to school to enroll him and we were talking to the grade 3 teacher. Chris was a bit upset at having to change schools in June but while we were there his kindergarten teacher walked by, asked how he was and then took him to the library to show him pictures of the kids that would be in his grade 3 class who had been in his kindergarten class. He felt so much better after she did that it was amazing.

Congrats to everyone who had their first day of school today. Chris doesn't go back til Sept 2nd but then doesn't finish til about June 25th or so.

I think the pink flamingo has a cousin on my block. One of my neighbors has a neon pink flamingo on his front lawn. The thing about that is that he is a single guy living by himself and has a pink flamingo. Dont anyone get me wrong or read anything into it but is seems a little out of place...

Maryjo..what is the story on Nathan Page. Is there a link to read about his story?

ARL01---the thread was started by Verrandah Man and it can be seen at something like "Disney Angel comes through" or something to that effect..Touching story. I think we might call Disney and give something even enough to buy him a stuffed animal. I am just thankful Sarah is healthy and doesn't give me too much lip (LOL!!) but after reading this story we are truly blessed. Mary Jo
