What a great Memorial Day weekend!!! I bet Brainard was specacular!

Yes it was a great weekend to start the summer! We did some yard work, planted some items, and did some general fun things. The DDs have 2 weeks of school left and are busy planning things for the summer.

Seeing many people are getting together before the cruise, okwmiester and Boardwalk4me we should try to get the Minnesota contingent together sometime.

Ave, can you have your DD resend the kids email list again. I think summer will allow for more time to do emailing.

Ooo I wish it were in the 80's here -- went to the Jays game last night (we won) and they had the Dome open. It got pretty cold because a breeze picked up and it's always cooler by the lake. I told Jim that if we went again tonight and the Dome was open again that we had to take a blanket.

:Pinkbounc 20 More weeks ...:smooth: OMG!

Yesterday we watched the Making of the Voyager of the Seas (I think that was it's name) and realllllllllllllllllllllllllllly got antsy about going again. Seems they too had a restaurant like Palo. But they only had one pool and :( NO MICKEY! They went over all the things that they need to stock the ship and it was so amazing. Makes me wish even more that I could get my paws on the book "The Making of the Disney Magic". I saw it on E-Bay but tried for about a half hour to get registered and kept being told that my names chosen were already taken, so I gave up. Guess I need to try again.

:bounce: for joy for you Eric, on your new position. Hope it works out and you can get the big $.

:bounce: for your Mike & Kathy over your new "baby" Saturn VUE. I guess that really was a deal you couldn't pass up. So glad Kathy kept Scarlet!

Rosemary ... I was the one with the blow up float from WalMart. It's mesh in the middle and only the rim is blown up. Sort of needs the amount of air you'd put in a kiddie tube. I was at the local $ store and got a blow-up thingy that looks the size of a turkey baster and will fit into the bag with the float. They really are nice floats and comfy too. I used it in my own above ground pool and twice last year at Castaway Cay. Give it a try at home and you may be surprised.

Art kind of camandeered the puter this weekend and was burning copies of some Doo Woop music for his work puter.

Since we had rain so much this weekend, I was only able to get in some of my front flowers. Right now the rest of my garden is resting on my front porch in carriers .... the good news is at least the deer can't eat them there!

Fiona ... Please be careful with the SARS outbreak in Toronto again. Art just told me that he saw something about it probably starting with the Chinese eating some kind of critter and that was how it crossed from animal to humans.

Gotta run .... back to work.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today:( My in laws are on an Alaskan cruise, my DH and kids are on their way back from Florida, after a 3 day canoe/camping trip, my sister in law just called and spent the weekend boating, and I spent the day at Jury Duty!!It took most of the day to select the jury (I was not picked) so now I have to go back agin tomorrow.
Poor,poor me!!!!!:p

OKW...I laughed out loud about the crab legs! So true!

Eric, the cruise was diverted to St Thomas and Puerto Rico. I really hope we get to Mexico this time. Now that Regina is in middle school this will probaby be our last cruise for awhile.
I just "banked" my left over points for this year. I'm thinking of going to WDW either next Febuary (President's Day weekend), or next October (2004).We haven't been in a few years now and the kids are ready to go again (me too!)
Laura, when are you sailing, and where will your ship port? We'd love to meet up at WDW!

DH just called, they are about 30 min from home. I'll be SO GLAD to have my family back home!!!Gotta go!

Just adding my name and hubby's name to the list of people sailing 11 October. We're repeat cruisers, looking forward to the 7 day version. Se ya'll there!

Thanks for the welcome..
i was wondering about any meets on board. hubby and I are Disneyphiles, he works at WDW part time, we were part of RADP before it went to heck and back, and absolutely love meeting other Disney people.

Let me know!

Tulirose, glad to have you with the Brunch Bunch!
Matty204, will try to get you that list ASAP.
Monday was great fun, went fishing for several hours. Didn't catch anything except a buzz.;) Then we went swimming with the wild dolphin. They were everywhere. Swimming right up to the boat, sticking thier heads up to say hello. DS said, "Mom can I go in?" I said yes, he jumped in. His head came up and he said "do they bite?" LOL... Little late for that question. Of course the dolphin swam away without taking a piece of my son with him.

Terrible day at work today! Just got off the phone with Rellingtwin, telling her all my work problems. Thinking maybe it is time for a change.
Later, Ave

Welcome JenKatt. The more the merrier.

Cathy -- The latest outbreak of Sars in Toronto appears to be contained to a couple of hospitals that actually aren't that far from our house. I was in one of them 2 years ago (my how times flies) when I had a car accident -- wasn't injured except bruises from the airbag going off. Was also there about a year ago when Chris cut his finger at work and had to get stitches. Touch wood that he's older now and visits to the emerg are few and far between. Anyway it appears that all of the cases are related and stem from someone in hospital passing it on to other people and then a patient getting transferred to another hospital before they realized they had SARS. Honestly we see no masks and no one has changed their routine except I believe that Chinese restaurants and businesses have been hit hard. We don't eat out very often so it's had no impact on us that way. Hopefully the people sick will get well soon and no one else will get sick.

The downtown hotels and restaurants are really suffering. One of the hotels has an 26% occupancy rate that would usually be around 70-75%.

They just announced a new offer -- for $69 CDN you get a ticket to the WWE Smackdown(I think that's what it's called), a ticket to a Jays game and a pass for Mosport. Will not be getting it as not interested in WWE or Mosport and we have our passes for the Jays but it's a great deal. It's all in early July.

Jays won again tonight 5-1. That's six games in a row. The Dome was closed tonight so it was warm. Really looking forward to going to a game in shorts and t-shirts and sandals.

Must go to bed as it's getting late and it's going to be a full day tomorrow. Somebody else made errors today which I have to fix tomorrow. Not difficult but a pain.

Fiona

For all you Bob Hope-fans out there:

I found an interesting article about him on MNBC:

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Two days and counting before Bob Hope turns 100 on Thursday.

Hope's daughter, Linda Hope, said in an AP interview the centerpiece of her dad's day will be a huge birthday cake. It has to be huge to hold all the candles.

"We're going to have kind of a quiet family birthday celebration because Dad's pretty much confined to his room to the house. So the family will be coming in," Linda said. "In fact, that's enough. It's a pretty big group when you get spouses and the families. We're going to have a celebration at home with a huge cake."

Because he's pretty frail, friends and family will be coming to him.

"He has days when he is good and is on top of things very much like the dad that I remember," she said. "And other days when he is kind of quiet and keeps to himself. You never really quite know what kind of day it's going to be. We are certainly all grateful for the times he is able to respond and be a part of what is going on."

Linda Hope said her dad still has a sense of humor.

"He doesn't really tell jokes anymore. But he loves to hear a good joke," she said. "Friends come and tell him latest jokes. His face lights up. He still has that. Somebody will say something and then he'll say something that makes it into a joke. It's very much a part of him."

Tomorrow we have a holiday over here and surprisingly Anja doesn't have to work. She was just informed about it. So we can sleep in late :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Welcome - Welcome, JenKatt. If you are traveling to Cape Canaveral and will be there the (Friday) night before the cruise, send me a PM and I'll give you the info to get a discount at the Radisson. A large bunch of us will be staying there and having a DIS meet that night --- can't start the party too soon, you know!

I've been telling the girls at my Curves about the Disney Cruise and they can't believe how organized we all are. (Notice I didn't call us a cult - hehehe). I've been trying to recruit her to come along but she's worried that she might not find enough to do on the ship .... IS THAT POSSIBLE? I'm still wondering how we can get on the back-state - behind the scenes Kitchen Tour. Anybody ever do that?

Back to work ................

Cathy with @ C.

Hi, all! Will try to catch up a little bit.

Mike & Kathy---Congrats on the new Saturn! What a great deal!
Glad you were able to keep Scarlet. We totally understand the convenience of having 4 doors with a car seat and a little one.

Shari--- Hope you are feeling better and enjoying your cruise. Eric forwarded your cell phone info to me and I'll get a revised list out soon.

If anyone else hasn't sent in their cell phone number for the list yet, and would like to, now would be a good time to do it. I'll update as needed.

Ave---So glad your video finally arrived. I think we have been added to the brunch group, but if not, please add us as well.... three of us....myself, Don, and Mandy.

Fiona--- I can relate with Jim on the heights thing. We once had seats so high at a Cavs game, I was afraid to look down and held onto the arms of my seat for dear life! Finally got adjusted to it enough to enjoy most of the game.... then had to stand up and walk down to go home! :p

Rosemary---Good to see you posting again and that you will join the brunch group! We don't have commercials at our movies here, but we do have lots of previews of other movies. We're planning to go to the drive-in again this summer. Did that a few times last summer and it was fun. It's lots cheaper to pay only $13 per carload, plus we can pack our own snacks and get to see two movies instead of one.

Looks like I won't get caught up. Becca is here and it's taken me over two hours to get this far! Will try again later.... when she goes home. ;)

Colleen

OK...am I the only one in this group who refuses to get a cell phone...I am on the phone all day long and the last thing that I want is someone bothering me in my car or at the store etc. I know that I will have to give in soon enough...my husband does have on-star in his car which has a phone built into the system but we have never used it!!

Rosemary...just checked my pm's...so sorry...I emailed you with the information and sent you an envelope from PA!!!

Scootersmom...are you getting ready for your trip...can't wait to meet you guys...our actual vacation to Branson and Nashville starts on June 28th but this will be a nice long weekend since we love Williamsburg.

Welcome JenKatt...BTW...what does RADP mean???

Bettemom...don't forget to get in touch with me so we can get together on our Vermont vacation.

Need to get back to work so I can pay for all of these vacations!! I work just so I can vacation!!! Have a great day! Mary Jo

RADP stands for rec.arts.disney.parks.. it's one of the orginal Disney newsgroups/ message boards.. If you know Deb Wills, she's heavily a part of RADP...

We won't be staying in Post Canaveral the night before the cruise, really no point, we live 2 1/2 hours from there. plus with frineds in Orlando, if all else fails, we'll stay there... (or more likely get a room at Disney with hubby's cast discount) But thanks for the offer!!!

what all activties are planned for the cruise itself as far as meets?

Hi Everyone!! I need some help with cozumel excursion....I am pretty sure that I want to do the Beach Break excursion at Playa Sol because it looks like there are a lot of fun things for my dd's (9 & 7). Has anyone done that? I am not a touring ruin type of person. My parents forced me to do all those while I was growing up!

My parents (age 66) are thinking about doing the Kayaking Adventure Excursion in Cozumel. Does anyone know anything about that?

Thank you in advance..............Hope:Pinkbounc

JenKatt...we have LOTS of syuff planned! Glad you asked.

Fri 10/10 meet at the Radisson
Sat 10/11 Sail away party deck 10 5pm
Sunday 10/12 Brunch at Palo and Scavanger Hunt in Key West
Tues. 10/14 Captain Marvin Sting Ray Tour (1/2 day @10am)

Many Dis'ers are hooking their dinning reservations together. If you forward your info to Eric (Viking) he will send you "the list" which has loads of info about all of us.

TwinAve is taking care of the Brunch, Hopkins is arranging the Savanger Hunt, @GoofyNut is working on a logo for t-shirts. We also have a cell phone list AND a "kids list".
Several of us have cruised together before and I can promise you we are a fun group of folks!Feel free to join any or all of the planned activities!

Sorry Hope, I have no info on Cozumel. I did look at doing the Playa DeSol on our own (rather then with the DCL tour) but we have desided to do a dive/snorkel trip instead.

MayJo...I thought I was the last person on the plaet to get a cell phone. I also am on the phone a lot at work and felt NO NEED to have one ringing in my purse while driving! BUT, when DH upgraded his service he got me a "free phone". Oh well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em :p

Jury duty is OVER! Back to work tomorrow.

Hey Mary,

We will be in Ft. Lauderdale meeting up with Kyle's folks (they are in Punta Gorda) for a couple days before we sail out of Pt. Everglades.
We will be on the Zuiderdam Sat. 6/21-28. Sorry, no WDW this year (or maybe ever--did I say that out loud?) I'd rather spend my "Disney" dollars on the Magic or Wonder.

Sorry we couldn't hook up.
Do you ever get to Liz and Jane's outlet anymore?

Take care,
Laura

Hi Folks,

I got Jen's info and will do an update tonight after our return from the gym. As we have a holiday today they got an aerobic-special going like on every other holiday with two special classes in a row. We will get there at 3 pm, run 5 miles and then do the two classes. We'll be back around 7pm for dinner and after dinner I'l do the update.
