Very small world. We live just south of the Minnesota Zoo. We
booked this cruise so our DD's would not miss so much school. (MEA convention) 1 DD is starting middle school and the other is in 3rd year of college. We are looking forward to meeting so many fun loving neighbors from near and far on this cruise.

We are book the cruise at this time for the same (MEA) reason. I think traveling is a good educational experience but it a beneficial to miss as few day of school at times. Then of course you have to work around the sport schedules as well!

Hey guys!

Here's a cute/funny thread on the Resort Board. If you have some time, check it out:

Mug Men Thread

Raining in NY. Rained yesterday. Rained today. It will rain tomorrow..... the above link brought some sunshine in!

Thanks for the link, Rosemary! Very good thread.

We had a beautiful day here today, but they're calling for rain for 4 of the next 5 days. Saturday is supposed to be only partly cloudy. We'll see......

Colleen

Hi Folks,
I'm coming to the USA before our cruise :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
I applied for a new position in my company and was able to get ity against tough competitors. The new job requires training in our main facility in Denver,CO and subsequently I'll have to go there for two weeks from 06/16-07/02 - I had hoped to be in The States during 4th of July, but that didn't work out with the schedule :(
In the beginning the new job means learning, learning and more learning plus a lot of overtime. We're a brandnew team of two. Funny thing is, the guy I'm teamed together with, is a former colleague from the German Air Traffic Control Acadamy, and we"ve been in the same class then - It's a small, small world after all :p And if we succeed, we will get a substantial raise at the end of the year.

We are thinking alike. Our DD's (20) favorite all time ride is at EPCOT, The Land. Everytime she rides she feels she has learned a little more and loves the slow down experience of it. I always tell our kids that Disney wants to stimulate all of our senses, which most amusement parks simply do not do. What could be more educational for our dd-11 than snorkeling at Trunk Bay on St. John's. (Disney Eastern Cruise) Also how many other cruise ships could you get teenagers to sit through Broadway shows (or very close to) and look forward on going back every night. We always look forward to the experience of Disney and that is one reason we keep on going back. Now for the sports, yes we are in the soccer season and Jeff is an assistance coach, so like so many others we are busy busy busy. We are going to Brainerd this weekend for a short bike trip on the Paul Bunyun Bike Trail. Hope the weather holds out.

Congratulations Viking!!!! Go for it!!!!

To all of you cruisears have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Congrats Eric. Always exciting to start something new.

Colleen -- Finding Nemo was great. It had lots of funny moments in it. The audience last night was mostly adults which I found interesting. Definately worth seeing IMHO.

Going to be a busy day today and it supposed to start raining at some point this afternoon and rain right through the weekend. I can sympathize with those suffering through rain. We did have 2 nice days but it appears back to rain, rain and more rain. We are scheduled to get the amount of rain in a weekend that we usually get in a month.

:(

Fiona

Congratulations, Eric! Good luck with your new position.

Fiona-- So glad you liked Finding Nemo. After promising to go see it, I'd hate to be disappointed. It does sound really good.

It's starting to cloud up. Rain supposed to start late this afternoon and then we're stuck with it for the weekend and beyond. I, for one, am hoping the forecast is wrong! :jester:

Colleen -- sounds like we are going to have the same weather for the next couple of days. Yuck.

Tulirose -- read the Mug Men thread -- very funny. I'm the Mug Man on the morning run and can certainly relate to the observations -- Jim does the late night run as I'm usually too tired.

   More money? Did someone say they are going to be paid more money?

You know what that means... MORE Disney trips, more Ninetendo games...

Tina :)

I hope so Tina ;)
But first I will have to work like a mule :(
My colleague and I have to start from scraps as our department is 100% new. We have to take over a job which has been done by about 40 people up to now. OK, what we will have to do, was only part of their job, but we have to bundle all of their work using a brandnew software  and will have to develop some completely new procedures and perhaps even some new programs. BTW, we won't substitute the 40 people, but just rid them of parts of their duties to enable them to do what they are supposed to do. It really is a challenge!! And it is my own fault: I applied for it and additionally complained to my teamleader that my old job got boring and so he supported my move ;)

The good thing: I have only been to Florida so far -not counting switching planes in Detroit, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. So now I have the opportunity to spend two full weekends in the Rockies and see a totally different part of your wonderful country. Perhaps this will make me want to spend next year's vacations in The West - Who knows?

Nearly forgot to mention, that we don't have time for chat tomorrow. We will be at the gym, because we don't have time to work out on Sunday due to the heli-flight with Opa.
But next week we will be available again.

A great weekend to everybody

Eric,

Congrats on the new job. Hope you enjoy the Rockies. Never been there but would like to go sometime.

Hopefully the Euro will will for you for this years vacation. At this point I'm not in the market for one of YOUR cars til at least next year. Bought my last ones in 1999 and 2001.

Nancy

By the way, I'll thry to make it to chat this week. Planning in getting up early (before 10am ).
Next weekend we will be at WDW. Maybe do BB on Saturday. Doing Vickie and Al's chef's table on Sat for dindin.

Congrats Eric,

New jobs are always a mixture of emotions and challenges but fun as well.
Enjoy Colorado I was out there in April and it was the first time I ever got to come back to warmer weather in Minnesota

Congratulations on the new job Eric. Hope that you enjoy the rockies.

We will not be in the market for a new German car for at least 5 years due to the fact that we HAVE A NEW 2003 SATURN VUE that we picked up today. Color is fire engine red (of course) V6 AWD. Grey leather seats (heated) cd and cassette radio with 180 watt amplifier. The Saturn plant is located about 30 miles southwest of Nashville. Picked it up from a local dealer and still had to pay 525 shipping charge like the rest of the country.

What swung the deal was 0% interest for 60 months and no down payment.

Mike

Thanks for all the good wishes, Folks.

Congratulations on the new car, Mike & Kathy.
It's an SUV isn't it? Saturn isn't sold over here. Funny thing about the shipping charge: They do exactly the same scam over here  But Mercedes, Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen also offer personal pick-up at the plant. It's cheaper, you get a decent meal, a tour of the plant and the company-museum and finally a thorough briefing of all your car's features. Volkswagen even built the "Auto-City", a kind of themepark, to make it a special experience. We're a country of car-nuts, aren't we?
And what about Scarlett? Did you trade her in?

Fiona,
sorry to hear about the new outbreak of SARS in your hometown :( We hope that your health officials get a grip on it ASAP.

Eric we still have Scarlet. We needed something with four doors so that it would be easier to get the baby in and out of her car safety seat. Just could not pass up the 0% interest on the car loan.

Hope that Opa's helicopter flight goes well and that he has a great time. Hope that your time in Colorado is enjoyable and that they do not work you too hard.

Today is the day that Nancy and Tina are cruising and we wish them smooth sailing.

Good morning to everyone and hope that this weekend is a safe and happy one for you all. Mike

Congrats, Eric! Enjoy Colorado!

I leave tomorrow on another 4-day Wonder. Last night I came down with a dreadful sore throat that seems to have evolved into a bit of bronchitis - just what I need (NOT!). But I will enjoy being on the Wonder again anyway.

Whomever is in charge of cell phone listings: I sent my new cell number to Eric because I couldn't recall the "cell list keeper" and don't have the cruise list here on my laptop. Sorry.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Just 20 weeks to go!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Eric, congrats on your new job! I hope you enjoy Colorado. DH was there while in the Air Force and speaks very highly of it.

Nancy, Tina and Sherri....enjoy your cruises:D

Mike...GREAT deal on the Saturn. I have thought about getting the same model. But since I have a prefectly good car (and no car payments) I decided to leave well enough alone:p
