I just purchased an entertainment book and got it in the mail today. It says the card expires nov 1, 2008! We aren't going until the 23rd!
I would have thought that a 2008 book would include ALL of 2008...does this mean I'm going to have to buy another book later? When do those usually come out?

grrrr...not happy.

Yes, you will need a current card when you check in, so you will need to buy the 2009 book.

We bought the 2008 book in Sept. of 2007, but I believe they come out before then. Check with schools to find out if they are selling them as a fundraiser. I bought the $35 book for $20 at my daughter's high school.

Hopefully you can use the coupons that are in the '08 book this spring, summer and some of the fall. We save well over the cost of the book with the food and entertainment coupons.

There are safeway coupons in the front of the book that are worth $20 which is as much as I paid for the phoenix book so it's ok. I'm going to give it to my brother that LIVES in phoenix after I tear out any coupons I can actually use LOL!

Darn. That stinks. Here I was being all organized. Duuuur.

You know, you should check with hojo first. I'm looking at the travel coupons in my '08 book, and the pages are showing "expires December 30, 2008". Might not apply for THE hojo discount since they require the card instead of the book itself, but I'd check to make sure!

Heck, looking at the Budget coupons, those expire June of '09!

Not everything in the books expire before the end of '08.

I have stayed there twice in the past 3 years and neither time was I even asked to show my Entertainment card (one time of which, was expired by a couple of weeks.)

Well, y'all know how often I stay there, and it's always with the ent. rate, and I have never been asked for my card either.

I would check with the HoJo and see if the 2008 card would work. I bet they'll say yes, and then never even ask for it. ;) :lmao:

well lets see....last year i stayed there 3 times and this year will be 3 times and on my recent trip 2 weekends ago I wasnt asked for the card but on my trip in Oct. I was asked for the card....its a hit or miss in my book...my luck I would go without the card and that would be the one time they would ask for it:confused3

I'd probably buy the 2009 book, just to be on the safe side. Knowing my luck not only would they ask for it, they'd say it couldn't be expired. Even after being told otherwise on the phone!

PM me with your e-mail address. I work for Entertainment and can get you a card when they come out in August

ballerina mom:

I live in Massachusetts. How would I be able to obtain an Entertainment Book for coupons to use in the DL/San Diego area.

We arent planning to travel til August 2009.

Thanks.

From what I've read here and elsewhere, the Orange County book doesn't really have any good coupons for the Disneyland area, and when I looked at their online coupons for that area I found nothing in the area either. I'd hate to have you spend all that money if nothing good is in there!

Don't know about San Diego, though. However, my South Puget Sound (south of Seattle in Washington state) book has coupons for all the Seaworlds, all the Cedar Fair parks (Knott's Berry Farm), and even Legoland. So unless you're interested in the coupons from local, smaller businesses in those areas, you might not even NEED to get the local book for where you're going.

Thanks Ballerina mom!

Thank you also bumbershoot. I have been lurking on this website for a few months. I am a WDW veteran and venturing out West for the first time next year.

Honestly, all this info is overwhelming. You seem to be quite an expert! I have read many of your posts.

I agree that not all books are very good. I live in San Antonio and we have a great book. If I were you, you can preview the discounts for Orange County before you buy one. Also, look at your local book. If you want the card for hotel discounts, check out your local book

jonsmom57...Aw thanks. (if that was at me.lol)

Meanwhile, my energy is so focused on planning this thought-of trip over to WDW, and my mind is spinning! DH didn't understand why I was so confused, so I had him just look at the allears list of JUST the Magic Kingdom restaurants, and then he scrolled up and down to the other parks...he came back to me and apologized, and bowed out of planning at all, leaving it in my semi-capable hands. Just the list of restaurants at WDW scares people!

Thanks Ballerinamom, my interest in getting the discount for HoJo's. They have great savings on this particular hotel. But in August, where it is peak travel time the discounts may not exist.

When are you planning your visit? I would be very happy to help you with recommendations for dining at WDW. We have tried many restaurants thanks to the dining plan at WDW. I would be happy to also recommend at the other parks as well.

Do you have just one child? How old? How long are you planning to visit.

Where will you stay?

Just to get a few ideas.....

You are so sweet! I think I'm making headway especially now that DH saw the enormity of choices and lets me vent with abandon...we're vegetarian, so that helps us out (though I've found interesting choices even at the most meat-centric places!). It also keeps things cheaper when ordering from menus...filet mignon is so much more expensive than a pumpkin ravioli. :) In addition, I think part of our trip (early December) will be spent just following my cousin and her family around...she is local and worked for the disney store when it was Disney, so I'll let her be the alpha dog for a few days, and then once they go home my knowledge will spring into action! :rotfl:

Maybe instead of hijacking other peoples' threads I should start a pre-trippie in the WDW area on these boards. scary idea!

WDW at holiday time is my absolute favorite time to visit. There is nothing like the magic of the parks to put you in the holiday mood. Don't forget Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade. I am sure you know about how wonderful that celebration is. In fact, Samantha Brown from Travel Channel made a new show this past year featuring the parade. The fireworks that night are to die for. I think they start selling tickets May 1st or something.

Epcot is THE most beautiful park at holiday time. Be sure to catch Candlelight Procession.

We last visited WDW in April 2007 and spent most of our day at Future World. Test Track is a "not to miss" attraction.

Well....can't help you with vegetarian meals..sorry. But AllEars site is so very helpful in that regard.

Let me know if there is anything that you need suggestions for. Remember PS seatings are 180 days out.

Joanne

Thanks!

I'll copy your email address into my planning stuff, in case you want to take it out of the post. :)
