Hi, I was wondering if others out there with boys can let me know...
Is CRT a waste of 2 TS credits if I have two boys who are not very interested in the Princesses? We did Askerhaus in May and they were a little shy of them. I think eating in the castle would be so cool.... just not sure if it is something that would be a waste with two boys (ages 5 and 1.5)

Please tell me your experience!?

I have 5 boys . They are older now. But when they were young we went here a lot. They loved eating in the Castle. They thought it was cool.
I don't think it's a waste at all. We still go an they r older now . They r 16 to 25 .

We took my brother's grandsons, 5 and 7 the other year, but we opted for dinner instead of the breakfast. This way we got to eat in the castle, but the boys did not have to worry about the Princesses.
We enjoyed the dinner, Perla and Suzy (the mice from Cinderella) came around to the tables and then the Fairy Godmother made an appearance, singing and wishing Happy Birthdays and Anniversarys etc. We got our picture taken with Cinderella downstairs before the meal. It worked out nicely for all of us.

My son loved eating in the castle and he was not much interested in Cinderella. He liked the shields and and all the and knight looking stuff. He was really into the Lego Knights Kingdom stuff and for him this was an extension of that.

The atmosphere is very neat if they are into knights and kings and such. At nightime they only meet Cinderella at the entrance, and then the other characters from Cinderella mingle through the dining area.

The boys will get a toy sword as well with their dinner, so if they like that, they may have fun!

If they have a great imagination, and you prep them with excitement and a little story about Cinderella, her prince, and the fact they'll be dining in her 'Royal Hall', they will surely get excited about the experience!

I just asked ds6 the other day if he wanted to eat in the Castle next year (it will be our 2nd trip to Disney). At first he wasn't sure, but after he thought about it, he decided it would be pretty cool !! So, we'll see if we can get in sometime next May :)

My son is a shy boy but when he is in Disney he loves characters. When we went to CRT he was only 2 but he loved eating in the castles and liked the princesses coming to him and taking there time to talk to him. He enjoyed our breakfast. I asked him when we go in December where does he want to eat...one of the restaurants he wants to go is the castle.

Thank you for all the great replies! I think we will give it a try. Now we just need to decide Breakfast or Dinner!!?? :rotfl:

Last Sept we did CRT brkfst with our 3 yr old son. He had a good time and liked getting his picture taken with the all the Princesses, especially Jasmine. There is a wishing ceremony where the boys are given swords (girls are given wands) to wave in the air - and he really liked getting that sword. I think CRT is worth a try - it is a magical experience eating in the castle.

We went for lunch last summer. While we went primarily for DD, DS(9) was surprised at how much he enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. They give the boys a plastic sword and the waiter kept calling DS the young prince and which highly amused him. The princesses were all very friendly to him as well.

If you're paying for the DDP, I'd say it's not worth it. If you're doing FD, absolutely.

DS4 loves his ladies, and his first meal at WDW was at CRT. Boys do get a (junky) plastic sword, but he loves that thing, and I've had to super glue it back together a bajillion times in the past year. Princesses seem to make a big deal over boys, too. ;)

I felt the same way, but my son actually asked if we could go back to CRT this year. He will be 10.

Does anyone have a picture of the sword that they give the boys? The girls get a wand, but what does the sword look like? I'd like to show my boys as an incentive to go to CRT.

:cool1:We did CRT in Aug 07 for breakfast with DS (5) and DS (9) at the time. They loved it. It was great getting to see the inside of the castle and the food was pretty good. They were a little shy, but got over that fast. The character interaction was nice. I think your boys will like it. We are doing it again for our Aug trip.

Enjoy

Thanks a bunch for all the great info!!! I am so excited now... I think I will try to get a reservation for the breakfast. My boys will love the swords and the wishing ceremony. DH and I are going to LOVE eating in the castle.:lovestruc

OMG - that video is so COOL- got me teary.... I miss Disney!!!

Thanks!! I made it right after we got back and was in a hurry to crank something out to show the fam who were filling my email box with picture requests. I've since made a longer one with more pictures and better edited videos, but it was too long for YouTube.
