CRT didn't excite me at all :(

My family and my father and his friend went to CRT in 2001 and from what I can remember I hated it!! (I know, those are fighting words--lol) But seriously, why is this place so hard to get ADR's? I've read so many threads and posts dedicated to CRT that I'm starting to feel bad that I haven't brought my girls there. (well, not counting my DD8 that was 1 the last time we ate there) I remember the dinner rolls being hard and eating something that was horrible. (it probably wasn't; I'm a little picky) Is it just the atmosphere; eating in a castle, your kids excitement? A big part of me wants to go just so I can join in on all the talk about CRT; I'll have to admit, I'm envious of the excitement and wish I felt the same. I just remember how much we all hated it. We still joke about it....if I happened to "overcook" rolls, my DH calls them the Castle Rolls.

I would say give it a try again. Your daughter is older now and would enjoy the experience more now than she could have when she was 1 years old. It was 8 years ago that you ate there, I am sure they have a different cook now. I have not been yet, but from the comments it sounds like the food is not what makes the place worth it. It is the place and Characters. Like all Character meals, it is for the kids. If the kids LOVE it, then it was worth it. The last character meal I went to (Ariel's Groto in California Adventure, DisneyLand), I don't even remember what I ate. I do however remember the reaction on the faces of the 4 girls as they met the princesses.

And if you ask me, what would be a better treat for a little girl than eating in Cinerella's castle and meeting the princesses while there.

When I go this summer, I will definately be taking my DD7. The way I look at, how could I take a little girl to Disney without taking her to a meal in Cinderella's castle?

I think the huge pull for eating at CRT is that it's in the castle. We have eaten there once, the food is ok, but I don't feel the need to go back.

Just got back and the CRT with my DD8 was excellent. We took her to the BBB which is also located in the Castle and she was thrilled. Yeah a little pricey but remember we are creating memories! The food was pretty good, I had the prime rib which needed some fat removal and my wife had the pork chop which was a little dry.

We've had breakfast there twice and both times I thought it was very good. Not the best breakfast I've ever had, but definitely the best breakfast I've ever had in a castle!

I wouldn't write a place off because of 1 bad meal several years ago. If your DD likes princesses, I'd give it a try before she outgrows the princess phase. My DD9 is no longer interested in princesses, she's into pirates now.

I think you are correct. We last ate there in 2005 for Breakfast (last seating) and I thought the food was so so for the amount of money that we put down...however, if I was given the opportunity to return? Absolutely, only because it IS in the castle. Now, our favorite princess breakfast would have to be PSB in Norway. We loved the breakfast so much that we are going again in March (not too sure on the L and D menus thou )

We've been to CRT twice and it was "good" - certainly not bad but not fantastic.

The first time we had a late adr and a terrible server (actually rude at times). I think she was really angry that we were a late adr and she got stuck with our table. confused3 ) I felt sad that after spending all that money we all left there feeling down.

We gave it another shot and the second time we had a great server and the food was reasonably good. We did feel just a little rushed though and I wish there had been more interaction with Cinderella. Also, I was more into the idea of being in the castle than dd. I don't think she really cared either way. Talk to your dd's. If they are really into the idea of eating in the castle then do it. They'll love it. (If that's your thing, I think there is nothing like being inside the castle.) If they just want to meet Cinderella and don't care if it's in the castle or not I think it's okay to skip it.

Now that we have experienced eating in the castle, it's a "been-there-done-that" for us. Is it worth the cost and the hassle of getting an adr? I think that's really a personal thing. It depends on how much you/your kids want to do it.

For Cinderella, we prefer the 1900 Park Fare dinner. The character interaction there is just great and the Grand Floridian is so grand and lovely. It's easy to believe you are at a ball with Cinderella.

I've been once. that was enough. Once to say we've done it but I don't think I ever need to go back. The food was so so....but it was fun to do it.

I didn't book this year, but we are going again next year and I think I may book for my DD who will be 3 1/2. I'm sure she'll LOVE it. And this time I'll try breakfast; no more hoard rolls for me Thanks for the advice and stories

I thought it was good for dinner. Then again it was 9:50 at night....so I probably would have eaten my big toe if I could have gotten someone to fry it up.

For us it is the Magic of seeing our 3.5 year olds face light up when the Fairy Godmother came by.

Well, I don't really think you can base what a restaurant is like now if you haven't been there in close to 8 years.
We just went a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful--definitely the most "magical" meal we had. Although, we did get the best table in the house, it was quiet and low key and the princesses were wonderful. The food was also not nearly as bad as some people say it is (in my opinion). I thought it was great, and I'd definitely do it again. BTW--we went for lunch, and I would definitely suggest getting a 12:00 reservation.

I would have to say try it again. 7 years ago was a long time ago. I personally love it here. We are on the dxdp and plan on 3 meals there on our next trip. 1 breakfast and 2 dinners. If you didn't like the dinner, you could always try the breakfast with dd. Breakfast is pretty hard to mess up, and most of the reviews are good for that!

I missed this earlier, they have pretzel bread now..and it is AMAZING!!!
