Yes, the price is quite high. I had been to CRT many years ago - before I had children and before princesses were at dinner. I thought the food was just OK, but I loved being in the castle. Now, we have three boys and our pre-schooler recently became very interested in princesses. So for his birthday weekend (a week ago today), we had dinner at Akershus and breakfast the next morning at CRT.
The food at CRT was fine - I really enjoyed the fruit and the bread basket and I'm probably the only person in the world who likes the bacon at Disney. (The eggs were not so good.)
The castle is great. But as others have said, the princess interaction at Akershus is much, much better. Our son loves princesses and wanted to ask each of them one question about their stories. He thought of this entirely on his own and was very excited to ask them. Belle and Ariel at Akershus had time for that, but the princesses at CRT did not. He didn't want to pose for pictures - he wanted to talk (and I got some good candids at Akershus!) But at CRT is was very "pose and go."
I think the part that was most disappointing was the long wait in the lower level of the castle (nearly 45 minutes) before we were seated. The photographer was not enjoying the magic of anything and there were so many families crowded in the waiting room that it was a very unpleasant start.
As many others have said, it's great to do this once but it's not a repeat for us. I actually wish they would offer the opportunity to dine in the castle without the princesses again!
