Crown_Princess and Angrypenguin DFTW 03/30/2009-7/24 Update, MGM studios!

:goodvibesI was on the lookout for you around WDW last week but alas I did not see you two... I am loving the TR though, the contemporary is where I want to stay next... any tips on how to convince DF?? LOL

The splash mountain shots came out great! You are a great photographer:goodvibes

So exciting to see your TR started :goodvibes I love the commentary from both of you. I bought a new Canon SX10IS before our trip to WDW last month and I spent a lot of time experimenting with it. Definitely a great place to get the hang of a new camera!

The shots at the courthouse are such a great addition to your story; those are the little things that you'll always want to remember. The room you got at CR was really nice; I love the mirror shot where you're fluffing the gown.

We did the kitchen sink a couple years ago and it was so cool to try it. Although DH was the only one that like mint ice cream and insisted that we still get it in there. Needless to say everything tasted like mint ;)

Welcome back! Glad to see you've already started your TR. I love that you guys are both adding to it! It's so nice to get a perspective from both angles! :goodvibes

DF and I are having our reception at the CG and will hopefully be staying at the Contemporary for the trip as well!

Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes Congrats!

Hey everyone! I had a Canon Rebel XS, although I just sold it to my cousin a couple days ago:lmao:. My new (and upgraded!) camera is on the way!:cool1:

Hopefully to have an update tonight.

I just want you to know that you sold me on The Canon. As soon as our income tax return comes in were getting it. Should be any day now!

Hey everyone!

On Friday night (day 2) we split up, so I guess I'll talk about what I did.

Julie's MOH arrived (hooray!) and myself, Julie, my best man, and Shelley (the MOH) went to dinner at the Wave, in the lobby of the contemporary resort. Disney tip: don't bother with the wave. Just take the 25 dollars you would have spent and stick it in your mouth, it's probably tastier.

Afterwards, a few guys (myself, best man, friend Matt, my cousin, and Julie's brother) split off from the womenfolk. The guys and I ended up driving about an hour to go to a place called "Hard Knocks," which is essentially laser tag pumped with HGH and steroids. After chucking away an exorbiant amount of money on tolls, we arrived at what appeared to be a normal business park.

But a normal business park, this wasn't. As we piled out of the car, through the window we saw some guy running by carrying a life-like assault rifle. We walked into Hard Knocks, and entered into male pubescent heaven. There were plasma tvs everywhere, hooked up to a multitude of video game systems. The staff was all female, who were all wearing very short and very tight shorts, knee high socks, and skimpy tank tops. I felt like a dirty old man at the age of 26.

I realize that most of (if not all) of our audience here on the DIS is female, so pardon me if the analogy gets lost. Hard Knocks is a place where someone went "Hey, you know what would be cool? If we took Call of Duty, and, like, turned it into laser tag with skimpily clad attractive women running around."

After selecting a nickname (mine was "Angrypenguin", obviously), we had the choice of either playing one of two levels. One level was decorated like an abandoned warehouse, while the other was an average office building. After shuffling in with a bunch of 16-19 year olds (we were pretty sure we were the oldest bunch there), we grabbed our gear (think really big guns!) and ran, dodged, and killed prepubescent teenagers for the next several hours. Sure, we felt a little self-conscious at first, but after awhile we really started to get into it through the course of the night.

We finally left around 1:30 in the morning and I slept-walked back to our room. Unfortunately, Julie's MOH Shelley was staying with us at the contemporary that night, and somehow I got relegated to the couch. Which would be fine, but the couch was the size of a toothbrush.

After tossing and turning and nearly falling off the couch to an almost certain death, I gave up and crawled into bed with my honey:cloud9:.

Sorry, no pics for the evening! But we'll have more pics up shortly :)

haha! I just read your last post out loud to my DF and he said "Can we go there!" so there is another 26 year old guys opinion for ya:rotfl2:

Day 2, Part 2b: The Bride's Perspective

Okay, so now time for Friday night from my POV. :goodvibes

After MK DH's parents stopped by our room to try on a tux. The best man had already tried his on. There were some shirts that didn't fit, and DH's dad was nice enough to exchange at the local MW Tux for us. I was a little shocked the DH asked him to do this, I thought it was asking alot, and even more shocked when his dad agreed. They are nice to each other!

Then we were running late for dinner at The Wave, and also waiting for MOH to arrive, so we talked to the parents for a little longer. We mentioned that we were dancing to a song in 3/4 time at the reception (waltz) and that we didn't know how to waltz. So they spontaneously errupted into a waltz and then taught us how. It was a true Kodak moment.

Then the BM called and let us know that MOH had already found her way to The Wave on her own, so we said goodbye to his parents and went downstairs. We had already spent a couple hundred dollars in food, and been at WDW for 1 Day, so we decided to split a meal. It wasn't that great but not as horrible as DH said. We had the chicken pot pie, which wasn't actually pie at all...just two chicken breasts on a plate with some gravy and veggies. :confused3

From there the menfolk arrived; and this was almost all the men in their 20s that were invited to the wedding. Keep in mind this is about 1/3 of the people attending our wedding. :lmao: I took the women folk back to our room and we discussed what we could do that night.

I had two things I had to get done: take my dad's tux to Polynesian so he could try it on (yes, they actually made it to Dis), and go to Walmart to buy things to put in the welcome bags. My sister-in-law pointed out that it might be good, since there were four of us, to split up and have two people do the tuxes and two people go to Walmart. So that's what we did.

Sister-in-law and I rode the monorail with the tux and had my dad try it on. The shoes were too tight and the handkerchief was the wrong color. I then realized that everyone else might have the wrong color too. So I told DH the next day and he alert his dad that this was the case, and we got replacements (had to pay for them though). That was taken care of.

The other two folks were my cousin-in-law's wife and MOH. I told them to buy oranges, something disney, trail mix, chocolate and water for 18 bags for under 80 dollars. They got great stuff for 89 dollars. We rendezvoused back at my room, created an assembly line, and stuffed the gift bags. People received them as soon as possible, and thought they were very nice. I think the practicality was appreciated. For a couple people that wasn't until the dessert party, but most people we saw at some point prior to that, so we would just give them the bag then - as long as it wasn't at a theme park. :)

Day 3: Epcot!

Ooookay, back in business. Slow afternoon, so I figured I'd post a few things.

We planned on being at Epcot all day, as this was the only real "park day" that we had prior to the wedding. Since a bunch of people were in town, we figured the best way to approach this was just to do pretty much what we wanted in Epcot, and have people meet us if they wanted to join up. Unfortunately, I didn't take into account the abuse that my phone would take during the course of the day, as it was a constant stream of text messages, voicemails, missed calls, calls back, etc. etc.

We took our time in the morning, as the only reason to hurry was to make our 11:30 reservations at Le Celier. Crown_Princess was also determined to wear her bride ears:

So myself, the MOH, crown_princess, and the best man excitedly entered Epcot. Of course, a few pictures were needed.

This sign seemed fitting:

After taking a few pics, we stopped by Soarin’ to grab fastpasses for later in the day. Then, it was off to Le Celier!

I had been looking forward to Le Celier, but I have to say I was really disappointed this time around. It’s expensive, that’s a given, but especially at lunch time, I felt that the quality of food was disappointing. I had the “Celier Experience” which grants you an appetizer, main entrée, and dessert. The cheese soup of course was great, but the prime rib sandwich I had was only okay. Don’t get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it, but it’s just like every prime rib sandwich I’ve had and cost twice as much. Sorry Le Celier, but I might be hitting up Yachtsman’s steakhouse next time .

Well, during lunch, I received an avalanche of messages and phone calls, so we told people to meet us over at GM test track. Here’s a tip: the single rider line is fantastic. Rather than waiting an hour, we were in the cars within 10 minutes, often at nearly the same time.

My dear coordinating with people:

So after meeting with everyone, we headed over to mission space. Knowing the full extent of the nauseating powers of the orange side, I held back while everyone piled on, not heeding my warning. So while waiting around, I snapped more pictures. Hey, I had nothing else going on.

It’s…Mission Space!

Mickey…he’s calling to us. Giiiiiive meeee yoooooour mooooooney.

Mission Space claimed one casualty. My brother in law’s wife, apparently got a slightly panicked look on her face when she found out that Mission Space spins. Yeah…no one heeded my warning of what this ride might do to them.

While she recovered, the rest of us headed off to Nemo. It was a beautiful day, and everyone was in a great mood.

My lovely bride’s “Holy crap will you stop taking pictures” smile.

After Nemo, our friends Alex and Neil joined our growing entourage and we hopped onto Soarin’. Our group filled up an entire row of seats on Soarin’. I don’t know why this is important, but it is. The entourage made us feel like rap stars. Except, minus the loose fitting clothes, bling, diamond encrusted teeth, and random gunshot wounds.

Since we were down there, we went on living with the land, and ended up on a boat to ourselves. I risked my life to stand up at the front of the boat and snap off another picture:

So it was dinner time, and I was pretty insistent on getting Fish’n chips. I have no idea why, but a few of us guys stopped off for fish and chips while the ladies went and got something not so unhealthy. On top of that, I decided to treat myself to a beer, since I have a wicked alcohol tolerance.

Needless to say, after one beer I became very giggle and slightly tipsy (sad, yes, I know.) Still, we wandered around Epcot for a bit, and simply enjoyed being with friends. I’m sure crown_princess will fill in with additional details .

Somewhere in…France? Remember, slightly drunk at the time. After one beer.

Ok, first of all I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything so far. I SO wish I would have found your report sooner :sad2:

It looks like you guys were having a wonderful time before the wedding day actually got there and you are super cute together!!!

I can't wait to read your wedding report!!

Second...I am in love with the quality of your pictures. Now, time for some silly questions...

Did you do any sort of editing to these pictures or are they settings on the camera? If you did edit, what software did you use?

How difficult is the camera to use? I am not completely new to the photography world but definitely (not even close) to a professional. My camera now is about one step above a point and shoot, but I am desparately wanting to upgrade and am considering your camera...or the one you had before you sold it anyway

Can't wait for more updates!!!!

That's too bad about the problems with the tuxes, but at least DH's dad was able to exchange everything for you :thumbsup2

I know how you both feel about the being bombarded with phone calls, messages. One day my phone died on me after so many calls; we have several pictures of us with our cells glued to our heads too :rotfl:

Great shots in the World Showcase. Looking forward to more!

Fantastic update! Your pics are all fantastic and I love the way you guys write. It definitely makes me smile and can't wait for more! :goodvibes

OMG this TR is soooo funny.... im literally laughing out loud with some of your expressions :lmao:

Looks like you had a great time and your closeness to each other really comes across when you both write :thumbsup2

Angrypenguin you take amazing pics... wish mine came out like that, makes me think i should invest in a good camera for my disneymoon!

Loving it so far and waiting for more :surfweb:
