Have a trip planned April 18-21 and will stay at the Contemporary. This will be a short trip just to get our fix until our big trip in October 2005. I know the crowds around Easter are large but how about the week immediately after Easter? Will attendance drop or does it carry over into the week after Easter? Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering the same since we are going 18-22...however, this week would not be the week beginning immediately after Easter...Easter is on April 11, so the 18th would be one full week AFTER Easter Sunday. I wanted to try and clarify (unless I just can't read right  ) since I think (and am hoping) that there is a significant difference in crowds the week following Easter Sunday (which many schools will still be on Spring Break) and one full week after Easter Sunday, since most state's schools will be back in session on the 19th.

I'll be their too, April 18-22. I've been wondering this.

We were there a week after Easter this past year and the crowds were fine. Nothing was unbearable. The longest wait we had was 45 minutes for Dumbo. Otherwise we stood in line maybe 15 minutes. They didn't even bother offering Fast Pass at Splash Mountain on a few of the days that we were there (although they should have!). We enjoyed going at that time of the year. The crowds did magically appear after the spectromagic parade - 2 hours to get from the MK to the parking lot was NOT worth it!

In 2002 we went 1 full week after Easter. In other words are 1st day of our trip was the 1st Sunday after Easter. It was semi-crowded. The major Holiday rush was gone, as the bus driver had told us that MK was closed by noon most days the week before. The parks were still open late though. I did notice that was not the trend this past year though. The crowds were pretty much moderate. Certain things still had a 40-50 minute wait. Average waits were in the 20-25 minute range. There were no walk-ons. And parade and Fantasmic viewing required a 60-90 minute arrival time to get a seat. It was managable though with planning and FP.

We've gone the last two Easter's begining the wednesday immediatly after Easter until the following wednesday. The crowds are large until Sunday afternoon and then by monday it is pretty light. The crowds drop dramatically.

Hope that helps!:)

Thanks for the input. I figured the crowds would subside after the holiday. Should be a good time to go (ANYTIME is a good time to go but some are better than others).

We do it every year and it is a great time to go. The crowds will drop dramatically. We usually walk on rides until noon and then we have an average wait of 15 tp 20 minutes. However, some of the big rides can be up to 45 minutes in the late afternoon.

Just curious, why are so many people going from the 18 -22? Is there a convention or something? This may change everything.

The reason that we are going the 18-25 is because that is when are land/sea package is scheduled. Other than that, no particular reason.

We are looking at going the sametime 18- 28th I hope crowds will be light but anything is better than christmas week it was packed .Still had a great time and great weather..

I hope there is no convention!! Yikes!! We are going cuz it coincides with my FLA family's vacation time, which is always a very small window for them cuz of work schedules.

From what has been posted, I think with using EMH that we should have little crowd problems (we're very early risers and light breakfast eaters anyway so getting to the parks early isn't a big deal for us!!). Thanks!!

We'll be there too! Many Connecticut schools don't have off the week before or after Easter, but have a February vacation and an April vacation that happens to be the week of the 17th. I wonder how many other states are like this --- it could make the weeks surrounding Easter a little less crowded than usual.

Does anyone know if the crowds are even thinner 4/24-5/2?

in 2001, when Easter was April 15. We traveled Tuesday the 17th and were in the parks the 18th-21st and the parks were a nightmare. It was really, really crowded. My dh had laughed at me, when I made a PS for each day that week (his attitude was "I don't want to be on a schedule") Well, it took ages just to get counter food, and many of the restaurants were basically only seating people with PS's, or it was an hour wait, minimum. Let me tell you, he was GRATEFUL and APPRECIATIVE we had those PS's to sit down and get a break from the crowds!

By Sunday the 22nd it was slower and the following week it was great.

So if you are there on either week ahead or immediately following Easter, it will be packed. Weeks after that should be fine.
