Does anyone know what the crowds are like during MLK weekend? The rooms are entirely sold out. I was wondering what to expect and if there might be restrictions on FOTL access for onsite guests. I am a little afraid because I was told there was a convention in town of the National Association of Homebuilders (90,000 people) and also because, not only Universal Studios onsite, but most offsite are pretty well booked up, too.

I had to really search for any offsite openings the night before arrival. Everything was taken.

We were there last year over MLK weekend for my birthday - with FOTL I don't remember waiting very long for anything. We stayed at HRH and it was busy, but we had no problems enjoying the pool or getting a table at The Kitchen - didn't really seem very crowded to us, but I do remember that the standby line for Shrek (which we completely bypassed) was over an hour long the afternoon we did it. On Monday, the day we left, it was a bit rainy and cool - the parks and pools seemed empty !!

bumping up...I appreciate the response this. Anyone heard about the convention in town this year? (Homebuilders Association)

:earseek: No i was wondering why i was haveing such a hard time booking a room for thurs nite jan 13...It all makes sense now....Priceline was no help either...But i did finally get a cheap room before we checked in to the RPR on friday. No sense in spending good money on a room when we are going to arrive late. The RPR will seem like a 20 star hotel :smooth: When we get there!!!!Hotelkingdom comes thru again for us!!!!!!!!! :jumping4: :jumping4: :jumping4:

We were at RPR last year on MLK weekend and found the crowds very managable. That was the least crowded time we have been there. We had FOTL of course so that helped. We never had to wait on tables at restaurants. It sounds like this year could be different with everything already sold out. I booked our MLK trip last year on New Year's Day so the demand wasn't as big it seems.

Try some of the hotesls on www.roomsaver.com there are 4-5 right across from Universal. BUT DO NOT STAY AT THE DAYS INN across from there. But we have stayed at Amerisuites, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Days Inn(NEVER AGAIN), and SLEEP INN
