Crowds Last 2 Weeks Of August

Almost every school in the south starts back in early August, and most folks would not want their kids missing in the very beginning. If you have to go in the summer, this should be the least crowded time. We have been during this time and plan to do it again in a couple of years.

We always found the last week of August to be less crowded than other times during the summer. Still hot and humid as hell but less crowded.

I usually go off season; Sept, Oct/Nov and Dec.

I just went the last full week in August (NO Labor Day at all) this year for a girls-only trip.

I prepared myself for crowds and HOT HOT HOT. Well, it wasn't that bad crowd-wise especially if you go early and leave when it starts to get crowded and even more HOT!

I was pleasantly surprised. I think you should go early and leave for a heat/crowd break and then go somewhere else in the later afternoon/evening.

Don't forget ponchos for the daily storms.

If youcan deal with the heat, that time isn't too bad. We went the last week of August last year; it was crowded, but bearable.

Be prepared for a big thunder boomer every afternoon, other than that I didn't find the crowds to be bad at all. We enjoyed our August trip in the summer of 2003 and it wasn't even that hot and humid. Maybe one day out of ten felt unbearable. We just took afternoon swim breaks and we made out fine.

We love the last 2 weeks of August-yes its hot and it will slow you down a bit but crowd wise, its pretty good! We usually take a break in the afternoon when the heat is the worst and the thunderstorms usually happen!

We went this year last week in August to first week in Sept. It was great, not busy at all.
