In the beginning stage of planning a trip with my kids for their first time. I home school so dates aren't an issue but I want to go when the crowds are at the lowest. . how are the crowds the first week in October usually? Thanks! or what are the best months to go with the crowds aren't bad. . don't want to be waiting in huge long lines. Thanks!!

Crowds are pretty good in October. :) The weather is nice too. If you go in Oct. you should check out MNSSHP ( Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party) It's a hard ticket event you you will have to pay extra for it. But it is well worth it:thumbsup2

We just got back from a three day weekend at WDW. All of the Parks seemed unusually crowded for some reason. Could be that it was the last weekend for the Halloween party.

Our school system (in Kentucky) has fall break the first week of October, so we've been the last 3 years during that time. We love it, and the weather is very nice, though this year it seemed there was a heat wave! It's also hurricane season, so that might be something to consider as well.

Three things that affect crowd level at that time of year are: Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (Magic Kingdom), Food and Wine Festival (Epcot) and the Tower of Terror run. If your trip happens to fall around Columbus Day, that could also affect the number of people (and wait times). If you plan accordingly, like avoiding Epcot on the weekends for example, these shouldn't make your trip any less enjoyable. We are big fans of MNSSHP and F & W, but I doubt we'll try the ToT run anytime soon.

Regardless, WDW is amazing at any time of the year, so you should have fun whatever time you pick!

We went Oct 7 -11 this year and it was a bit crowded at Epcot. But other than that is was fine. The weather was perfect however a few years ago at the same time it was sweltering hot!
