Ok, this is a first..first time going to Disney ...first time in a forum..
Taking my 2 girls to Disney November 2 nd- November 7th 2007.
Bought the guide books started to check out some of the sites.
Then I came across "Jersey week" and how busy this is eventhough November seems to be a recommended time to go as crowds are low. Could someone tell me what this is and how busy the parks are. Thanks.

I'd like to know too.

I'm going down for the first time, in a long time and never heard of Jersey week. :confused3 Ill be down the same time as you, so I'm gonna piggy back on your post and see what others say.

(sorry I didn't have an answer for you)

Jersey Week is that week because the NJ public schools are all closed that THursday and Friday every year for Teachers Convention. A lot of Jersey people obviously go down that week so the kids don't have to miss a ton of school. I've never been then but I've heard it's a little busier but nothing crazy. Just be sure to have ADR's for all table services.

I've been during Jersey Week several times (maybe 4x ?). Years ago (back in the 90's, it wasn't so bad---in fact, it used to be pretty dead). I recall Nov 1999 was dead & 2001 was not too bad. But it has taken on more popularity due to the other functions that go on during that week as well.......Food & Wine and ABC Soap Weekend. Jersey Week this year is Nov 6-10. Super Soap Weekend is Nov 10 and 11.

It was pretty busy in 2004 (which was the most recent Jersey Week I went to). But I predict fairly heavy crowds between Jersey Week, Food and Wine and ABC Super Soap weekend. I doubt it'll be like President's Week or Easter Week or Christmas Week......but could be similar to some of the summer crowds. I know Jersey Week in 2004 we witnessed 90+ waits for the popular rides (Splash, Space, BTMR, Test Track etc). I would get into the parks early to optimize the most out of your time.

The weather can be hot or cool. I've witnessed waking up to 45 degrees in early Nov, but on the other hand, also experienced temps in the 80's. I don't consider it a "quiet" time to visit anymore. Some guidebooks need to update I think. I know early Oct used to be dead as well, and even that time period is picking up in popularity.

Have a nice time........

We were down there a few years ago during this time. I didn't even know it was "jersey week" until we got home. Crowds were light. I agree with "unregistered" that you should have ADRs.

wow....you're experience is pretty different than mine. Did you catch the end or the beginning of it ? Or were you there right in the middle ? Because "light" is not how I would describe it. The OP may have some luck since the crowds probably won't come in until Nov 6, so hope they just catch the very beginning of it. But Nov 2-5 should be pretty good for them.

We were there last Nov 8-13 at BC...let me just say very crowded! Especially MGM for Super Soap Weekend, and Epcot for F&W Fest. Temps were mid 70's

We were there last year Nov 6-10. Weather was pretty good. Cool in the mornings and evenings, nice during the day. Dress in layers and you'll be OK. We had one day of rain almost all day. Cold, gray November rain. But it was a good day of rest and shopping. Crowds.. well, I was rather surprised. A couple of days were OK.. but near the end of the week, Friday I think, was terrible. We were at MGM during the day - Luke & Laura were there from GH and it was crazy. Went over to Epcot and it was the last weekend of F&W plus Soap Weekend plus Jon Secada was performing.. crowds were terrible. But that was the really only day it bothered me. Compared to late June summer crowd, that Friday in November was much worse than anything we saw this summer. I would just avoid the parks with special events on those days and you should be ok.

Your dates are really hitting just before the Jersey Week crowds, so I wouldn't worry about it. You will start to see them coming in more on the last two days of your trip, but even those shouldn't be bad. We are always there on Jersey Week and usually aren't impacted by crowds until Thursday. Have fun. It's a great time to be there because you don't have the awful heat, but usually it's nice enough for an afternoon swimming break.

We are going Nov. 1-7 so I guess we'll be hitting a little of the busy time too. It sounds like Jersey Week is the same as MEA here in MN. We were planning to go Oct. 17-24 but the 17-20 is MEA and so my travel agent advised against it. MEA is the Minnesota Education Association or something like that. So the kids have a long weekend. And lots of MN families go to WDW among other places, so the airport would be especially crowded also. I knew about super soap weekend and definetly wanted to be gone before that got started.

hello!!I go every year that week and it is never really that bad. nothing like the holidays.I dont like crowds, and I have never been uncomfortable there. check in time gets crazy but its not that bad be patient and have a good time! enjoy the week I always do!:thumbsup2

Warning if you go during Super Soap Weekend make sure you go early so you can get in and they do close some of the rides. I went there for SSW and they closed some of the rides and families not knowing were screwed. It happens in MGM.
