My DD dance school is planning to go to WDW for a competition in June 2006 :cool1: Now, the question I have how crowded is it then?

Also, we have the choice between All Stars & Port Orleans - I'm leaning towards Port Orleans but I've heard that All Stars is lots of fun!

TIA for any opinions :earsboy:

Hi,

Well, June gets more crowded the later you go into the month. At the beginning there may be some leftover crowds from Memorial Day weekend, then as each week goes by more and more schools are out, so crowds go up. This lasts through the month and peaks at July 4 weekend.

But it sounds like fun and I'm sure you'll have a great time!

if you have a choice of resorts go with Port Orleans, French Quarter or Riverside either would be a great choice. you will have acess to both resorts, the boat for going to Downtown Disney. A larger room than All Stars plus a free fridge.
our family loves POFQ, we will be staying for our 4th time next month. Guess then we will find out how crowded june is!

We were always at one of the All Stars back when I went to competitions with DD. If this is a big comp. the All Stars will be busy, busy, busy. Port Orleans will be much more relaxing and laid back. On the other hand if your daughter is competing with a team you might want to be sure all of you are at the same resort. It can be rough trying to commute b/w resorts in addition to a crazy workshop, practice and competition schedule.

June is going to be crowded because of summer vacation, but don't let that stop you from going and having a good time!
Also, although I have stayed at the All Star hotels and have no complaints what-so-ever about them, the Port Orleans is nicer, and it is considered one of the "moderate" hotels as opposed to the All Star. We stayed at the Port Orleans twice (1990 & 1992) and although I was a kid, I remember loving it.
Go and have a good time and don't worry about the crowds!

How are crowd levels after the July 4th holiday?

We have been in the World before, during and after July 4th. While the crowds peak on the actual 4th of July (we were in the Magic Kingdom one year on July 4th with about 10,000 other people all waiting for fireworks that never happened due to the fires in Florida that year), they tend to thin out only a little afterwards. While there was a small difference after the holiday, it was still pretty crowded.
We left a few days after July 4th, and I heard from friends who were heading up after us that the crowds were just as big. Because July is summer vacation, everyone is trying to head over while school is out.
If you want to go in July, I have heard from DisneyMom (and self-admitted Mouse Addict) that although the crowds are going to be large through out July, they tend to be slightly larger the week leading UP to July 4th, and slightly smaller the week AFTER.
If you can pick between those two weeks for a trip, I think I may go the week after July 4th.
