We are planning a weekend trip to WDW. Does anyone know what the crowds are expected to be the 1st weekend in December???

I know that December can be busy but I wasn't sure about early December - after Thanksgiving but before Xmas??

Also, if the crowds are low will they still run the busses frequently from the resorts?? Have booked the Pop but may change this.

December is supposed to be great month, crowd-wise (which is why I'll be there!). It's freaky busy around Thanksgiving and Christmas, but the period in-between has much lower crowds.

According to my trusty "Unofficial Guide to WDW", the weeks after Thanksgiving but before Christmas (Dec 19th is Disney's official start to the holiday season) are the LOWEST attendance rates at the parks in the entire year!

This is why we switched our Christmas week vacation to the week of the 10th--not to mention it saved us a TON on the hotel reservations!

Have a good trip.

going 12/4 through 12/11 to take advantage of cooler weather and lighter crowds.

Our oldest son is still young enough that we can pull him out of school for a week (just in first grade this year) so we'll heading down.

I think you'll love it then.

We've gone the first or second week of December the last 6 years. Weekdays usually aren't very crowded but the Christmas events on the weekend can be crowded, such as the Candlelight Processional. MVMCP Friday nights usually sellout. The locals come out for these.

We were at WDW Dec 5-14 last year. It was more crowded than we'd expected, although I wouldn't say it was ridiculously crowded. Nevertheless, it wasn't empty like it is in January, which is when we usually go. I think we're spoiled by the wonderfully uncrowded atmosphere of January, when the resorts are pretty quiet, PSs are completely unnecessary, and waiting in line is unheard of. None of this was the case last December.

But...in December you'll get all the Xmas decorations (gorgeous!--esp. the Osborne Family Lights, which are back this year), the Xmas party (loads of fun), and the Candlelight Processional (lovely).

I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip whatever your decision.

Unfortunately the only time we can go is over the weekend but even so I think we'll still give it a go. We have never seen the World in all it's Xmas glory and this seems like the best opportunity.

We will concentrate on DTD and Boardwalk area so hopefully it will go okay.
