Crowds first week of Aug.

I was wandering what the crowds will be like at the beginning of Aug 1-5. I choose this time to avoid free dinning and that I start school the following week.

I'm going the same time (arriving 7/29) and expecting big crowds.

Try to optimize your FastPass usage.

One thing I'm wondering is if there's a time of day the parks (or sections or certain rides) are better than others. For example, 4-6pm, does it thin out as people head for dinner?

We visited from August 5-13 last summer and it was busy most days and nights. Like many people, we tried to be at parks for opening...rest mid-day, when it usually rained for a while...then returned to the parks until closing at night. We had park hoppers and sometimes when one park would get crowded we'd head to another. We made good use of Fast Passes and got to ride all or our favorites several times.

We're already planning to be back next August!

That's the timeframe we'll be there as well. Feeling a little nervous about the heat and the crowds -- we're used to Nov/Dec and January. I keep telling myself we'll deal with the heat and keep our fingers crossed the massive hoardes will be nothing more than fellow DISers getting their fix as well!

Thanks, I hope the crowds are not as bad as spring break 2005, but I will be using fast pass and arriving at the parks early.

It is busy but I don’t think its terrible. We have gone the first week in Aug. the last 4 years and its not been that bad. I think if you plan a bit you wont have any problems. I will say it gets pretty hot though. This year we are going that time as well.
