my family is thinking on a spur of the minute trip to disney in 2 wks.

but i noticed on the mousesavers website- its considered peak season- does any one know how bad the crowds are-

our second choice would be to go the week after thanksgiving- when i heard the park is its slowest-

lmk
thanks:confused:

We went in 2000 and were there the 8th through the 13th and we found it PERFECT!

There are only so many schools on break that week :) We were actually planning to go next February but now we're going in May so we don't have an infant to take with us.

Have fun!!

I've heard a lot of people say they are planning to go for Presidents' Week this year, myself included. Park attendance has been picking up in general -- they set a record on Dec. 31, 2002 -- so I don't know how accurate last year's attendance is in trying to predict this year's. I'm very nervous about the crowds and would have never picked this week if we weren't bringing DH's parents (DILs, if that is an acronym) who are both educators.

If the week after Thanksgiving is doable for everyone in your family with regard to school and work, I'd vote for that instead. I know it's more difficult to wait 9 months instead of 2 weeks, but there are some great trade offs. The holiday decorations are up and everything is even more "magical" as a result. You may even get a chance to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party while you're there. The onsite Disney hotels are MUCH less expensive that time of year. Plus the extra time will allow you to save money for extra souveniers/fine dining/whatever, and as the anticipation builds up, you will be that much more excited when the time finally comes.

The weather may also be a factor. I've been there for a VERY cold February and two mild Novembers (although I remember at least one rainy day in November). But then again, I'm not a meterologist.

Goodness, I'd better stop now before I decide to cancel my upcoming trip!

HTH, JMHO, YMMV!!!!!

Oh dear. Just realized I've been bashing President's Week, and that's not even what you were talking about! Sorry.

I still would favor the week after Thanksgiving for the decorations and the weather, but the difference in crowds shouldn't be too noticeable. I think November will bring shorter lines, but February should be manageable. I was surprised that the week after President's Week is still considered Peak, but at least it's not considered Holiday.

Sorry again. I'm terrible with numbers, and I guess that includes dates as well!

LOL , ksoehrlein :wave2:

We generally head to to WDW the week after presidents week (pre and post 9-11) and have not seen huge crowds. The weather is dry, the temps are comfy and we swim in the warmth of Floridas sun.
No shivering or sweating while in the moderatly long lines. If I were you I would GO in 2 weeks!! (and again in November ) :hyper:

This year Mardi Gras falls on Feb. 24th, so a lot of families will be escaping New Orleans and the surrounding areas and heading to fun in the sun at Disney.
